Day 1 down, all I can say is Tobeco knocked it outta the park again. My only complaint so far is damn Im going through juice! I just filled the tank for the third time since I woke up today!! Vape-wise though this thing rocks. Its doing everything my Derringer did on point and I don't have to keep dripping so I guess its not really a complaint. My Cthulhu, the tank would at least last a whole day but man that thing was so picky, it was like 4 great vapes and then dry hit city, open the top and re-do the vacuum and it worked again. It was such a pain, but the KF5 has been perfect since the very first draw (not including that new cotton taste of a fresh wick hah). Damn you KTMRider Im gonna end up with four of these like I did with the KF4 last year all because of you! :D

I didn't get around to the SXK mini yet, but I can confirm this holds 6ml easily:

How far do you guys (m/f) fill yours by the way? I normally fill it till the liquid starts touching the ring with the fill holes in it, which is where this set up was when it hit 6ml on my syringe.

That looks really nice.I fill mine just the same, until it just about is touching the ring.

Thanks :)

I wish we had a little more choice in SS nipples for these though. This one looks nice but I find the original shape a little more comfortable to be honest. A brass one for my black Tobeco would be very welcome as well!

I fill mine about the same. I stop as soon as it gets to the top of the glass. As quick as this thing guzzles juice up I like using the glass one so I can see when I need to refill it. Where did you get the 6ml tank? That looks almost like the KF4 barrel.

For me it has worked great to fill it just over the fill holes. Have tried a bit more than that too, but then it started seeping out the top cap seam and I got gurgling and afc sweat.

Interesting. I had a theory that it might not wick all that well if you fill it up too much, thinking it needs a bit of an air bubble on top. But you've never had a problem with that?

In general I do not think it wicks quite as well as my beloved Ubertoot clones, although I have not had any notable problems with dry hits on the K5's. I have noticed that it gunks up faster (than the Ubertoots) when using darker/sweeter juices, so I might try to fill a little less and see it that makes a difference.

Why do you think that the air bubble improves wicking?

Vacuum, negative pressure. How it works.

Pretty much what he says:

Vacuum, negative pressure. How it works.

Air expands and compresses more easily than a liquid so it gives a little more playroom. That doesn't mean it's actually nesecary with these tanks though, but it could help in theory.

But you probably would have noticed it the way you fill it because if it does make a difference on these then it should wick poorly for you right after filling & start to get better once you've vaped the first ml or so.

Okay, so im thinking of taking the plunge and getting one seeing as how they seem to be doing okay, i only have two questions, not having been near a Kayfun before

1) SXK or SJMY ?
2) How far do you have to break the bloody thing down to clean it, please do not say 27 parts :)

I come from a (3x) Lemo 2 home....indestructotank..so im used to having three parts to wash

1) SXK or SJMY ?

They both seem to be good, but the SJMY seems to have a slight upper hand. Note that the SXK has a thicker glass section. So the SXK's glass section will not fit other K5s, but other K5's glass sections will fit the SXK.

For cleaning you only have to:

1) Unscrew the base.
2) Unscrew the top cap.
3) Wash.

I tend to dismantle the base and tank section since I do not have the patience to wait for it to dry.

You can see all about it here:

Thanks people.

I was surprised to see in the DJLSB review that he thought the threads on his clone were better than the original, considering the price premium

Also wtf with the clones packaging being better than the original too...

If i paid SM they money they want for a Kayfun 5, id want it to come in something like my (yes im going to say it, and ill even apologise this once) TreeBox came in....

Got mine today to replace the kabuki I've had on my Provari for a month. Was getting burnt taste from the aspire coils the kabuki uses and I got tired of replacing them every few days, so I've upgraded to this beautiful Tobeco Kayfun 5 today and have been rewarded with both better flavour, And a rebuildable deck that only costs a cuppla cents to recoil/wick compared to the ridiculous $3+ AUS per coil for the kabuki.

So far I love it!
