In a high tech driven world it is harder and harder to buy American. How many own an Element brand TV? Element is American made but yet they get little exposure. Good luck finding an American built cell phone. We make less and less in this county and there was a time when buying a foreign made product was not normal. I buy my Paint sprayers from Graco because they are quality and manufactured in Minnesota. Not saying you can't find quality stuff manufactured by American hands but it is getting harder and the harder it seems, and less ppl seem to care. The world is becoming its own melting pot.

All the more reason to support those that do, and at the very least don't ....ing support those who steal from them!

Buying clones does not affect me personally, so I don't really care. I will never feel bad for not supporting people who's products have been cloned. And none of that "if it was you," cause it isn't.
While people may not like this response, at least it's honest. I suspect this is how a lot of people actually feel, they just don't have the guts to say it.

I'm sure BT will happily make use of Chinese manufacturing when they corner the e-cig market through the legislation and courts. They are one of the few that can afford the legal efforts to bring that about and then all these arguments will seem as pleasant memories of when we had a choice. We keep on funding those who won't ever oppose it happening.

You are not comparing likes to likes. Non-clones always have selling points to make them competitive. Better specs, lower price, etc. Again cloning adds artificial value, that is why it is done.

Alright, I'm going to try this one more time, The non-clones I listed are not cheaper and the they don't have better specs. They are likes to likes, as the are very similar, with slightly different switches and different art/logos. Their selling point is that they are not clones and they market to people who don't want clones. There are some people who are willing to even pay more for a non-clone, because they don't like clones. With all due respect, I'm not sure why this is so hard. It seems like you have some marketing theory that you just can't see past.

Come on G. Go down the list of heavily cloned devices. Which one's are US made and which are from another country? The most heavily cloned is from Greece.

Let me go through my house and my yard. Ok I am back now. 90% of the stuff is 100% USA made and parts. Even the services I have done are from USA companies. It could even approach 99%.

Let us have a little reality here.

Totally agreed. This is the definition of capitalism. Don't like it? Tough. Get a patent or something to protect your intellectual property. If you can't be bothered to do that, then it's your OWN fault.

For some reason people in this thread do not think that the manufactures of battery tubes used for vaping need this to apply to them.

Buying a lot of cheaply made junk doesn't save anyone money in the long run... I'd rather have fewer nice things...

LOL The clones I have purchased are pretty top notch quality. Especially the ones made by infinite. There are, however, very poorly made clones, but I find those to be few and far between.

You want all mod makers to outsource to China? are you a .....? New jobs in a new industry in the US and you want all those jobs gone so you can get a mod a little cheaper. I agree authentic mod makers should try the best they can to provide a quality affordable piece so people will buy the original over the clone... just like I did with the 454 big block rda. Why buy a clone for 30 when I get an authentic for 65. Support your country when you can. This hate your showing of American original mod makers is quite moronic to me... the mods you love wouldn't be here without them. They provide a competitive market in turn creating better and better products. Just look for the more affordable authentic. Dont forget development costs, clones dont have as much cost here which is another reason its cheaper

My mech mod, and both my RDAs are clones. Why? Because they're affordable. Would I buy the authentic if I could? Yes, I would. In fact, I was putting my pennies away for an authentic TOBH. However, the behavior displayed during the incident at ECC by Authentic Elitists convinced me to promptly go buy another clone. This industry really needs to look back at its roots. This was originally a way to help other people stop smoking. Now it's all become a money game.

Actually, the mods I have are because of China, and they're not clones.

i agree some what with your sentiments.

it would be nice to be living in a touchy feely world where every one helped each other and,
we where in the good old days.
the truth of the matter is the rent still has to payed. one needs gas for the mini-van. kids have to
be clothed, fed and educated. hopefully one can do this and have enough left over to buy what
one wants,clone or, original.

i have no problem with what happened at ECC. the ECC has to grow up.
there are very few if any trade shows that allow knock-offs to be sold along side
of legitimate vendors.

this is not going to go away. the money it takes to start up and run a company is not
chump change. i can't blame any one who is trying to protect that kind of investment.

I would NEVER buy any product from a company where the owners(if they were the owners) acted like they did.

The whole ECC situation (I'm referring to the Ijoy thing) was handled incredibly childishly. I would hope that the adultsthat make up this industry would behave a little bit more like adults and less like ...... off 2 year olds on a tantrum next time there's a situation like that.

I would NEVER buy any product from a company where the owners(if they were the owners) acted like they did.

My sentiments exactly. However, they were not the companies owners. They were volunteers chosen by the owners. the whole thing was a total CF.

well, how are they supposed to act? is there a set of rules some where i am not aware of?

if their intent was to make a statement loud and clear, they accomplished that.
i would be pretty tee'd myself if the guy a few booths down was selling a knock-off of my product.
after paying the fee;s,transportation and, employee costs there's my good buddy pocketing money.

The ECC rules dictated that no vendor would be allowed to sell clones. It should have been a rather simple matter to find one of the organizers and ask that they be removed, instead of having some random people from a crowd of their fanboys go verbally assault the guy.

And how much would that cost, how much of that cost would you be willing to pay?

If your buying a clone now, you certainly aren't the likes that could afford a patented authentic mod.

The :censored: everyone but me attitude makes me I'll.

You're being a little too harsh. No one is saying "screw the American companies." If they don't want their ideas and products being copied then they need to go through the proper procedures to do so. If they can't, then who's fault is that? I'm not going to throw money at them for the sake of "'Murica!" Maybe these people are in the wrong business then.

Or..... You could be the type that doesn't see the need to spend $300 over $50 for an almost equal product just to make other people happy. Gross generalizations make for a weak argument.

No, they're free to attempt to compete making it here, but I'll continue to spend my money where I see the best value per dollar ratio.
are you a .....?
Can't see behind the dots, but I'd bet I've been called worse by folks better at it.
New jobs in a new industry in the US and you want all those jobs gone so you can get a mod a little cheaper. Because I can save $35 with a negligible difference in quality.

I don't hate them. I'm just not going to subsidize them because they happen to have been born closer to me. My patriotism extends to a very modest markup for the same or better quality, not over twice as expensive for almost identical. That just doesn't qualify as "competitive" in my book. None of the mods would be here without copying the original concept invented in China. Again, all authentic makers have to do to make me choose them is offer more value for my dollar or legally protect their rights and deny me access to the better valued alternatives. If they can't or won't do either my money will go elsewhere.
