A little (and maybe stupid, but I want to be sure) question: on the thermovape website you can select "flat-bottom" or "bottom-feed". Before ordering such an expensive device I want to make sure of something : what do they call "flat-bottom" style? Atomizer for everything except bottom feeder mod (reo...). I don't have a bottom feeder mod so I should order the "flat-bottom" one, right?
Thank you!

Bottom feeder have a open center post, "flat" bottom stands for sealed center post i guess.

Yes, it seems that because Thermovape is not really an ecig site they don't have the terminology.
Flat bottom is closed, for dripping, and Bottom Feed is open so the juice can get up from the bottle into the coil.

Btw, my USA-made AVA (without the top lip) doesn't leak like the lipped one. At least not anywhere near as much.

I'm sorry to ask this, the answer must be somewhere but I can't find it right now. I just received my first AVA LR, is there any guidline on how to use it, break it, how many drops it can hold, and how to clean it? I'm impatient to test it!

To break it in just need time, they claim it takes day but no is not like after 2-3mls it should perfom how it should, start with 4 drops and let it soak well at first (btw these really shine with high or 100% vg liquid) and fire up; you will notice these atomizer is different in that regard because it doesnt heat up instantly.

If you got the OG ava (sealed post) you need to know even that is sealed it will still leak from the air holes if you push it to mush, with time you will notice when and how many drops you need to refill cause it all comes down to your vape style.

To clean theres no specific way, i rarely clean attys but with the avas i have boiled and didnt have problems :) but you can email the manufactor and ask for hes opinion.

Hope it helps !

Thank you roxxette. I can't try to try it with some boba bounty!

Thank you roxxette. I can't try to try it with some boba bounty!

how is it going?
i just saw this (hawaii time in the morning) and curious. I was totally confused with my first AVA (an LR) when it seemed like it just wouldn't start up; sort of like an electric stove vs. gas; delayed reaction.

In my case it seems to take about 5 drops for the first, but it's always better to put a little less since overfeeding will get you nowhere.

I don't know if this holds for others, but I use my LR on a VV as it seems to do best at slightly higher voltage (3.8 or 3.9v vs. 3.3 to 3.6).

ok it's set then; the recommendation for LR AVA = 3.8v to 4.2v
Yeah they avas perform better if you have a device that can adjust the voltage, at 4.2 steady the ava is awesome vape :)

Personally i think ceramic wicks is the way to go, that remained me of a email i need to send these guys at Apex ;)

Well unfortunatly I don't have a VV device, so I'll only be able to try it at 3.7v. Otherwise I don't want to "parasite" my AVA right now with other juices since I'm waiting for my boba bottles (yeah I'm dumb I waited to have nothing left to reorder...). So I will tell you how it will be going for me in several days.

Nothing to fear, i rock my ava on my alphas mandatory and a freash 14500 and its awesome also ! But as you know battery die slowly lol

OK, time for me to jump in and ask what might be a stupid question:

I've mostly been a carto tank guy but I do have 2 sealed-bottom non-lipped AVA's (1 SR and 1 LR) that I've only rarely used to drip with just to try out new juices. Partially due to my issues with using 100% VG juices (especially Boba's & Gorilla Juice) in my carto tanks I just got a NotCigs VVPV and it arrived over the weekend. My sweet spot with cartos & normal attys is right around 7 watts, but with my SR AVA I have to turn the pot on the VVPV all the way to max (which I think is 5.6v) to get a decent vape (which on a normal 3.0ohm carto/atty would be around 10.4 watts). Should I use my LR AVA on the VVPV instead since it seems to like higher voltages than cartos & normal attys? Thanks!

absolutely... just be careful because it is an LR at about 1.6 or 1.7 Ohm and too much voltage ( i don't know watts) can kill the coil.
I'd go for about 3.5 to 4.2 volts to be safe.
As I've been saying imo, it seems the AVA needs more power than a typical 3.7 pv can give.

I have tried the last generation on when I reviewed the alpha max. Luckly I tried the new version of the the atty. Still getting a strange taste that does not go well at all fruit or backed goods. It goes okay with tobacco extract I like. Still waiting for the break in taste to go away. I have been vaping on it for over 10 hours. It is there. So far I am getting better vapor then with any other atomizer including there first gen ones and hh 357. Any suggestion on how to clean them. Is it safe to use my ultra sonic or should I just soak them?

hmm ... imo the strong point about this atomizer is "taste"... i would think that no matter what juice you use, like the HH357, you get better flavor than any typical atomizer or carto. The Genesis mods are close but imo AVA and 357 are the tops.. in fact they spoil you for anything else. Not just me; that's what they are known for.
I only vape Snickerdoodle and occassionaly some caramel.
Not an expert on cleaning this unusual wick material; but i get good results soaking in vodka on both, and blowing out.
I've heard a lot and concur that the AVA wick/coil very durable and doesn't get gunked up like typical coils.

Thanks! Just to clarify as I read my post and I don't think I made it clear- I know that I can use the LR AVA on my VVPV as long as I keep the voltage lower, but since I have to keep the voltage at max on the SR AVA to get a great vape, should I use my LR AVA instead of the SR AVA?

... i have an SR that i haven't tried; i also have VVPV which i haven't used yet with the AVA.
I also have a VMax which seems to have more voltage than the VVPV by quite a bit if needed, so i'm probably sticking with that.
I would not hesitate to use the LR w/VVPV; in fact i would recommend it.

I rinse in isopropyl alcohol then flush liberally with hot water. I leave them to air dry for 24 hours and that seems to work well. I believe you can boil these as well but I've never tried it. I imagine an ultrasonic cleaner would work great but I haven't used my ultrasonic ever since I abandoned the mesh-wick attys.
