(((debb))) I had no clue that you were having issues too :( I read somewhere here on the forum that VG is not the thing that you should be vaping if you have respiratory/lung issues.

I was using a 50/50 blend but recently went to a 70/30. I think that I see a slight improvement but really too soon to tell.

yeah, for awhile...I am out of pg at the moment...so
i need to order up and start experimenting..:)

I was having some breathing problems for a few months - and wondered if it was something in the flavorings - so I switched to vaping unflavored - and found, surprisingly - that I got just as much enjoyment vaping unflavored as flavored.
Also I upped the strength of my e-liquid to 30 mg/ml - thus I was able to satisfy my nic craving while vaping less. I don’t know which of those changes made a difference, but I have had no breathing problems for over a year.

If you were stuck on one vendor's juices, that might be the problem right there. Do they have a proprietary mix or are you able to change the PG/VG ratio?

Most importantly, GET BETTER! Then you can try to pinpoint the problem systematically.

The easiest way to tell if it is VG, you can get Glycerin at CVS to try it straight, no nic, no flavoring. If after everything clears up you try that, and find that it comes back you have just zeroed in that it is VG.

Alternatively, you can order straight up PG and do the same.

If neither causes a problem, add nic which you can buy with PG/VG mix, straight PG or straight VG, whichever has not caused a problem. Try that for a bit,

If still no problem, it is the flavoring.

If you try all of this and find out what the problem is, you can start titrating the nic down over time so you won't be quitting cold turkey. I would really go look at the DIY forum for more pointers on how to buy PG, VG, and nic and how to add flavorings to it so you will KNOW what you are vaping. It isn't as hard as it looks, you just have to be safe and clean. You can order the nic at whatever ratio you want, so you wouldn't necessarily have to do a lot of work with it, but remember that when/if you add flavoring it will bring the nic level down.

But most importantly, I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for all the information. I need to take it all in and figure out what to do. I know the best thing would be to just quit smoking all together. But we all know how hard that is, and I have plenty of stress in my life right now. I think that definitely lowering from 18 mg is the first thing I need to try, and also try a different brand as I always did use the same one. I never did the flavored ones, always just tobacco or Marlboro. Does 0 mg satisfy the craving for a cigarette? I never tried that. I need to study all these

That is interesting. I have long thought that the flavors could be the issue for many. I stay as low as possible on mine. I did vape unflavored for a few days while testing to see if the VG, PG or flavoring might be the culprit and I agree, unflavored is not bad especailly if using a good high quality nicotine.

I have done much reading on nicotine and it can be beneficial in some cases. I would personally try using juice from a different vendor, 100% VG, then 100% PG, and then unflavored to narrow it down before going zero nic right away. That is just my own personal opinion though.

Hi Kittycatt Sorry to hear about your problems. I would suggest you get the following equipment here:
eGo Twist Vivi Nova
I'd also suggest you try a sampler pack from Heather's Heavenly Vapes or Ahlusion. consider the amount of nicotine you've been using - for 5 cigarettes a day maybe 12 mg would be better? And think too about the percentage of VG/PG you were using. If you had a high PG content, then order a 100% VG and give that a try. Good luck and keep us updated!

Thanks for the quick reply, best place to get them?

Okay, so I ordered an eGo "type A" tank starter kit from extreme-vapor.com. I also ordered some USA mix e-liquid 12 mg. Does this sound like a good choice for me? I still dont understand the VG vs. PG thing, and how do you know which one it is? I have no idea which one the liquid I ordered is. I will try it and see. I will not use the one I was using previously. I'm hoping to go lower and lower all the way down to 0 mg eventually but I will have a hard time giving up the cigs if I start too low I think. I have to start somewhere and I figure this might be a good place. If I have problems, I will try different kinds of e-liquid. Thinking back on it, the filler might have had something to do with it, all those little fibers. So I'm going to try a whole new system. Thanks again for all the advice here.

Hi all,

recently I made a post where I asked for advice after learning I am allergic to PG. I was advised to go 100% VG. So I did.
Been using mix (75/25 PG/VG) 6 months before that and at that time other than "squeezing on my chest" type of pain I felt heavy breathing problem.
When I switched to 100% VG, there was no tightness in chest or pain any more but heavy breathing was getting worse, until finally 3 days a go it became unbearable. I cannot walk up the stairs without gasping for air. So I tossed it and back to analogs.

As for flavours and hardware ( this is one of the reasons I am posting this ) as far as I am concerned you shouldnt be looking for culprit there. I used non flavoured liquids and ended up with same effect. Also for final 7 days of vaping I was using stricktly 0 nic!

As for the hardware: ego-t/c/w, 510-T, ce2, ce4, dualcoil clearos and cartos and various others, normal batteries, lavatubes. Tried them all ( I really did made an effort to go through a lot of them and from the readings on forums, I tried to avoid cartos as much as possible)

So bottom line, from what I concluded, I cannot stress this enough THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE IT MIGHT NOT BE ANYONE ELSES, it seems some people just cannot handle prolonged exposure to PG or VG. I dont have allergies what so ever. I am as far as I know healthy, never had larger issue with anything and I doubt it very much that I developed allergy to PG. I believe it is not allergy to PG or VG it is just that prolonged exposure to pg and vg vapours is doing something nasty to me. SO once again, its not allergy, its not flavours, its not nicotine, its not supplier, its not hardware, its the very basic of the whole idea. PG/VG bases just bother certain people too much while others not that much.

I smoked 2-3 packs a day for over 40 years ...
Switched to vaping 4 years ago and never touched a cigarette since.

Didn't stop smoking for health reasons or due to the countless years
of listening to others nag me ... I switched to vaping because
one day I got fed up ... Fed up with my ENTIRE LIFE being TIED to cigarettes.

Its surprising what one can (easily) do when one makes up ones own mind
to never ever ever ever ever ever touch another cigarette.

PS: I would still be smoking today (or dead) IF it wasn't for e-cigarettes.
I enjoy the smoking (now vaping) habit.

Just throwing this out as one possibility. I've seen threads, mostly on phlegm, where one person says PG is the problem and another says VG is the problem. Personally, I think its flavoring and vaping style so to speak. In my own experience, I can't inhale PG very well due to its TH but when I vape 70%VG/30%DW there is barely any TH and I wake in the AM with phlegm because I've been inhaling deeper while vaping. Additionally, even with my usual skimpy PG vape (just the few drops of flavoring might contain it), the flavors themselves can be a problem. I test new flavorings by watering them down and tasting. It takes lots of watering to finally be left with the only taste remaining of cinnamon or black and other peppers. Either of those, especially if inhaled deeply, will give me phlegm as well as any flavor with an obvious "bite" like strongly acidic fruits. I've determined that if the tongue tingles a bit, I shouldn't put it in my bronchials.

I can confirm that the hardware could cause issues... a worn atomizer will give a metal burnt taste that your lungs will not tolerate and this won't go in 1 or 2 hours... After some hard lessons I learnt that all hardware are disposable, if something is not working as it was when new it will never revive, dump it out and get a new atty.

Ego-T, C, 510-T are trashy systems that can make you sick, please get a Kanger T3 or a vivi nova or a cartomize and you will notice a big difference.

Also I agree that the flavors can make you sick, is not worth to stick on something that you don't like just because you bought it..... there is a learning curve on vaping and the biggest issue is to find the best liquid.
