Bad Blank Cartomizers Alert

I just wanted to post this in case it may help someone else who is about to place a 'bulk' blank carto order from China.

I just received 50 blanks from Heavens-gifts, and they are barely usable. These cartos are odd, to say the least. The filler material seems very loose, and they 'drink' over 30 drops of liquid very quickly. They also 'do not respond' to the Taryn spin at all. They fill up on the first round completely, and the spinning force doesn't offer up any additional space for those last few drops. None at all.

Regardless, they suck. They all taste weird, and they burn up very quickly. It may also be worth noting that these did not come in blister packs, they came 'loose' in boxes of 5.

So, if you're thinking of doing a massive blank carto order from HG anytime soon, I'd hold off until you're sure that they're shipping something different.

I should mention that Heavens Gifts is refunding me, so my issue has been 'resolved'. The only issue I have now is finding a place to order bulk blank cartos that have the proper filler material density, taste alright, and work well. ;-)

Does anybody know about Healthcabin’s cartomizers (this is where I generally purchase mine)?

I assume they would have the same problem.

I would certainly exercise caution ordering blanks from Healthcabin right now, as I believe that they ship directly from Kanger like Heavens Gifts does. As such, there's at least a reasonable chance that they will ship the same crappy cartos that I just received.

I'm having a hard time even finding blanks stateside these days due to the Chinese holiday that just passed. If anyone knows where I can find good quality blank right now (preferable in blister packs), feel free to chime in. =]

My brother just received his first ecig (SB from Altsmoke) so he ordered blank cartomizers from here. He told me they came in the blister packs; however, they were significantly more expensive then ordering form China. Maybe V4L have the blister packs; but I am not sure.

I think I'm going to hold off for a while as I myself have about 50 blanks here to work with. I'm thinking that as the Chinese factories open up this month we'll probably see some more 'enhanced' or 'premium' blanks being introduced by different vendors. So, I think I'm going to wait to see what's out there before committing to another order. ;-)

and when i got them in i was nothing but disapointed the vapor sucked taste was like a matalic burnning plastic taste and the e liquid burns up quick in it luckly i only bought a 5 pack of black empty cartos.

I was never going to buy any cartos again but now since iam not the only one that feels this ways iam going to order some more from another vendor.....

Anyone got a good vendor were i can get some blank cartos from because i dont want to have another bad experience???

I would order empty ones and fill them with your own juice. Many vendors sell empty cartomizers.

I was thinking the same about the premium blank cartomizers (that they soon should be available from China.

I ordered the colored ones from Health Cabin and they are great!! They are the best I have tried so far and I have tried a lot of them. There is no funny taste and they seem to give off more vapor than a lot of the other ones when filling with my own juice. Hope this helps!!

That's good to hear, but I do want to emphasize that the batch of 50 I just received from Heaven Gifts are most certainly NOT good. I know my blank cartomizers really darn well, having ordered them from over 10 vendors over the past 3-4 months, and the ones that they're currently shipping are total garbage.

Eastmall's DPV9 is KR808D-1 compatible... Hope their blanks won't be the same ones you're talking about Synthnadz. (FYI they're all black.) Just had my bulk order hit customs stateside. Did the 200 for $200, free shipping deal. I searched the forums and saw that lots of other KR808D-1 folks use and recommend them, and saw no issues mentioned along the way. But I know you're referring to a specific recent batch...

Myself, so far I kinda don't think I'd prefer premiums. As of now anyway they apparently burn hotter (have diff resistance and wiring), so go through juice faster and suck battery down quicker; and the denser filler is apparently more likely to go burny and render the carto unusable. (Not all caps are removable for washing & refilling as of now, usually must be broken out & condom-hole-vaped, but that one will by all indications change.) Guess the objective is intensified flavor and vapor, but for me the other aspects are more important (and I like stealth over more vapor).

I have cartomizers from seven different vendors at this point and am trying to keep track of their performance over time. So far I have not found significant differences in death rate, DOA rate or burn liability, despite that some are closer-packed and some are looser-packed wicks. I notice slight trends, but I don't want to name names unless/until I'm a lot more confident (more data ).

The only thing I can conclusively say at this point is that blister-packed blank cartos recently shipped from the manufacturer WILL have a chemical smell/taste. My bulk HC cartos (and from multiple other vendors with fresh stock of blisterpacks) have this issue.
The chemical smell may be some kind of volatile "something" that off-gasses when the cartomizers are box-packed and allowed to ventilate during shipping and storage. When they are blister-packed, this is sealed in.
(Another vendor has sold me a boxed pack that also had a chemical taste -- though this seller has very high turnover, so lack of time in storage may explain it.)

This "off gassing" hypothesis would explain why I have found that these cartos can improve significantly (to an absence or near-absence of any 'off' taste) with 2-3 weeks of airing out in a cool place with some ventilation.
A 24-36 hour soak in vodka appears to have the same effect but it may shorten the life of the cartomizers by softening and possibly distorting the inner atomizer tube (just my experience). Bottom line, I suspect there is nothing actually wrong or defective with some of these "odd" tasting cartos -- it may be simply a function of packaging.

miss MiA when i order from HG i order a 5 pack of white in blister packs and they came black i dint really care about the color but the over all performancy on them suck. little to no vapor and they burn alot of e liquid

Madame Psychosis i dont think that the blister pack and the airing out will make that big of a diffrence since most cartos come with condoms on them witch pretty much makes them some what sealed.....

i got 2 left i wil try to air one out and put the other one in vodka and report back

Interesting about that smell -- so far I've only rec'd cartos in boxes (that presumably turn over quickly) but yeah, as soon as the shipping package itself is opened there is always a unique chemical smell. (Fortunately haven't noticed it effecting flavor of my prefills; haven't tried the blanks I also got yet.)

Do blister packs serve much purpose on blanks? Can't recall if my EM ones will come in them (think so). If so, guess I'll be sure to open up a round of them right away, then always do so in advance as I go along.
