I just read through the entire thread. I have had two that tasted like this out of he box after a fresh fill. I did however fix it right up ;)

Really short primer puff identified the carto had the issue. I then removed it from the batt and dripped drops right down the center tube leaving it sit for about 5 minutes. I then blew out the tube. This fixed it right up. These things do the same thing initially that the poor wicking ce2 cartos do. The coil is not saturated enough and it tastes horrible. Saturating the coil has fixed it each time for me.

Great info, sounds like an excellent work-around, however contrary to some others' experiences...

It's contrary to mine. I definitely think the issue is burning juice and I think Leaford has already addressed the issue with the manufacturer. The question now is when do the tweaked cartomizers get here?

The cartos are simply excellent when they work right and I really want to keep using them.

Right, and my issues as well were with saturated new blanks...
Leaford hasn't posted here in 3 days and I haven't heard of ANY action being taken. Did I miss a post somewhere?

He said a while ago he was slightly raising the resistance and the company who manufactures the cartos were tightening up the variances in the resistance for a more consistent product. I'm not sure when we'll see the results of all this right now though.

I just bought mine last week before they went out of stock again. And just tried one for the first time, using FSUSA strawberry and it tastes "off". Kind of burnt. Not sure if it's the strawberry or the carto since I'm new to this. But I put their menthol in an almost empty prefilled carto and it tastes great. Wish I knew. And I kind of hate that these empties I bought might be defective but I can't get a refund or exchange. Not used to companies that don't exchange defective products.

What makes you think they don't exchange defective products?

After refilling them?

No, no. Not just after refilling them. I have had plenty of reds that dveloped the burnt taste without refilling. Some early and some about half way through the life of the carto. Am i the only one? I hope so because I am just getting ready to order again.

I think they understand there is an issue with some of the cartos and until they can figure it out they are being a little more lenient to keep good will towards their customers. I'm sure they don't want to tarnish their name and there's a big difference between not liking the flavor and there being a defect (which has hopefully been resolved for the next batch becaus the cartos that work right are really good).

Once they do get it figured out, I do hope to see an anouncement as I almost quit cigarettes with these until I found a few bad ones.

Any of you guys using BWB Juices? I'm curious is the same problem is happening.

I'm guessing the problem is the juice is sometimes getting scorched. It's like coffee. Coffee makers that heat the watter too much make coffee that tastes terrible because it scorches the coffee grinds. A quality 15 bar pump coffee maker or a cheaper coffee maker that doesn't heat the water up so much will make coffee that tastes great.

I've only had one pack of cartos scorch the juice and I would be shocked if it didn't do it to BWB juices as well.

Edit: I've read reports of similar issues from other manufacturers. Some are saying it's caused by water soluable soldering flux mixing with the juices and poluting the fill. If these cartos have soldered parts, I could easily see something like this being the cause.

I took one of the cartos apart and didn't see any signs of solder. The only part I didn't manage to take off was the threaded part the screws onto the battery there is still some housing left around that. Ill take a dremel to that and check it out, but I would think that would be compression fitted. I cant imaging that part ever getting any kind of serious abuse warranting soldering. Or maybe it is to make a better seal?

Bloog cartos do not use solder. Earlier in this thread I disassembled a couple cartos and the atomizer is only mechanically connected.
