I have been informed by someone in the know that YiHi is indeed considering releasing software to allow anyone to modify the boot logos and maybe more.

Since this is one of the marketing talking points that They are actively using for this chip, it only makes sense that they would provide a way to change the boot screen image. Anything is better tahn looking at YiHi everytime I turn on the device. It cheapens whatever mod it's in.

I've been looking at the Bapgood stuff for a week or so already. I have 3 boxes to mess with. It's a good bet that one of his faceplates will end up in one of them. I'm going to see if he'd be willing to remove the fire button from the face on the 1590A faceplate.

I was catching up on this thread last night and read this and went oh ..... :D

The last couple of days Shapeways hasn't been showing all of the products, but seems to be back to normal and displaying all products again!!!

So this morning I added some new SX350 parts - No Fire Hole as well as Fire and Wattage Holes (in anticipation for the update to add adjustment buttons), for all Hammond replacement lids.

Due to a number of requests for my program, let me make it clear that I am not releasing it to anyone. I have promised a YiHi dealer that I will not for warranty integrity. On a case by case basis I might make an upgrade file for members, but you must be aware of a few things if you want that. 1) It is at your own risk 2) You will void any warranty if I send it to you 3) If asked by a YiHi dealer I will disclose a list of anyone I have given a modified file to. 4) It would be better to wait for YiHi to release their own software for your own protection. 5) My time is limited due to work and upcoming surgeries so turn around might be quick or slow depending on what is going on here. 6) Do not ask for it in a post, PM me. 7) There has been at least 1 upgrade with the factory 35W that has went bad so you can see why it is best to wait.

I got a hold of the new software which includes the up down switches.
Thank you Onedesign1!

It requires soldering wires to the existing board and if you are not experienced at soldering I would hesitate before doing it.
Here is what I did.

Carefully cleaned out the pad holes with wire gauge bits, going up one size at a time.
Found some '70's Kynar from the good old wirewrapping days, cut, stripped, and tinned.
Put wires through holes and applied heat with a '70's Weller iron to the pads.
Once experience told me it was time, flowed some 70's extra fine solder into the pads.
Not bad for shaky hands and bad eyes.

I added 2 tact switches to the front of my barebones test sled for testing purposes.

Installed new installer and followed instructions for loading the new .sxi file.
Bob's you Uncle!
Best part is the voltage displays correctly now!

Prologue to new installer and file with power up and down switches upgrade:

Seems YiHi has been listening to me about using a CRC routine to deter altered files!
Loaded my custom boot logos and got the following error when I tried to upgrade:

Index=0,Code=1,Comment=Sys_Init().
Index=1,Code=48,Comment=DFU CRC does not match.
Index=2,Code=2,Comment=Dfu_IterateDevices().
Index=3,Code=2,Comment=Dfu_IterateDevices().
Index=4,Code=61,Comment=Error: Only DfuSe file version 1.1a is supported.
Send this file to YiHiEcigar,please.
<End>

Took me a bit, but I am seldom a quitter :toast:
