I see a few pads near the usb connection... if the buttons can be added with just a firmware update that would be cool but then again the one button may not be so bad either. just got my board, need to build a mod for it now :D I have high hopes for this thing, if there is one thing the chinese are great at making it's tiny electronic circuits, this thing should be every bit as good as a dna, maybe better? the dna's do seem to be a bit delicate and can be finicky, I don't see why this one shouldn't be at least as good...

I found a good pic that shows the pads I believe. I think mine is good and covered with goo. I also just read that an update may come as soon as the end of the month to enable the pads for switches.

OneDesign1 has been in contact with the manufacturer about having up and down buttons. It seems that the pads near the usb connection are where the buttons will be added after new firmware updates. He is advising everyone to just sit tight for a bit and info will be coming soon.
You can see his post about this in the suppliers thread on the forum.

Yes, that's the ones I was talking about. I assume they brought some I/O pins to those for future use. Mine are covered with potting compound on the screen side but not on the back side.

Turbo, gonna answer before you ask since I am Psychic.......Or is that Psycho?

Haven't had time to work on it much between honey-do's and doctor visits and CT's etc.. I have a surgical consult Tuesday and may be in the horsepistal for a while soon. I have had pain ranging from mild to "can't stand it" on and off for awhile now. Seems I have a "Hernia involving the small bowl" and have been warned when and if I need to make an unscheduled visit to the emergency room.

Seems .NET doesn't like 1bpp images very well. The actual manipulation of data is pretty straight forward but I am having to write a custom class calling on gdi32.dll and user32.dll for the conversion from HEX to image and from image to HEX. I am fairly certain that all things in .NET are inherited from two undocumented parent namespaces called "Microsoft.Incomprehendable" or "Microsoft.Dosnt.Work.On.What.You.Want.It.To".

No worries on re-flashing, I have done it several times. I made my USB quick connect since I also won't be using it to charge with. For the power wire I put a small alligator clip on the end of it. For the 3 other wires I removed a small connector from a junk board I had that had the same spacing as the through holes on the SX350, pulled the male pins out of it and soldered them individually to the board. Then I took the female connector, cut it down to size, removed the pins, soldered the USB board wires to them and Bob's your uncle. The picture is a little deceiving, but they don't stick up as far as the screen does.

Would anyone be so kind as to let me know what addresses the "Boot Logo" begins and ends on? I've found the menu items at the end of the file, but can't for the life of me find the big "YH". Thanks in advance.

You are not going to find it with a hex editor, it is not just a ASCII representation. I am not done with my program, but here is the offset, have to go.

REMEMBER, you could overwrite the boot loader and brick your board if you don't know EXACTLY what you are doing.

You have been warned.

I think I'll just wait for you to finish up with your program then. Thanks for the help. :)

I would be very interested in your program Alex, also, onedesign1 is talking with yihi about implementing the ability of uploading logos and serial numbers using the software that yihi puts out to upgrade the board. Havnt heard any updates on this yet but I'll keep y'all inform when I know something.

It is too easy to mess up the upgrade image and then someone blaming me, so I won't be releasing it.
I might (on a case by case and time allowing basis) use your 64X48 pixel black & white BMP images to modify a .sxi file and load it to my SX350 as a test.
Even then, I would not give any guarantee since I did not write the programing for the board.
I am currently overwhelmed with trying to get things done and in place for both my business and my home due to my upcoming surgeries.
I am restricted on what I can do physically now and will be more so for the majority if not all of the summer.
I have felt compelled to take up the fight for vaping and plan on spending a lot of what little extra available time I have doing what I can on that front.

They specifically advertise the ability to change boot screens. One would think that they would include a GUI to both flash the chip and change the boot screen.

I wonder, however, if flashing the chip erases all of those changes to the bootscreen.

I wouldn't help much if I sold these MODs and changed the boot screen to bGT Mods (or whatever) only to have it default back to the hideous "YiHi" when the chip is upgraded. Hopefully they can address this issue so that the boot screen will not be overwritten when the chip is flashed.

Prayers for fast recovery, get er dun, and then run a marathon.

I hope all goes well with your medical issues (I know them all too well, and at too young an age).

Best wishes.
