So, I'm having some issues with my GGTS. It seems like there's some significant arcing going on between the button and battery post. I'll post some pic links, want them to be full sized so you might be able to see what I'm talking about:

There's black marks on the battery post that won't polish off, and sometimes my button gets hot and the GG starts performing badly. Help!

I've been running high wattage through my GGTS, and I've had the occasional accidental firing (fell asleep, set it down wrong) my spring just gave out, it went flat. The switch and the post were spotted like yours, nothing cleaned it. I sanded it with 2000 grit paper, the nickel plating came right off and the brass is pitted to. As long as the surfaces are smooth I'm not going to fuss about it.

Im just curious if the spring gauge would be related to the wattage going through it?

Of course Poppa. Thats why I put a very thin spring inside GG fuse

You know, I should have thought of this -- the spring may have gone bad. Disassemble it and see if its carboned up, it has happened to me, I cleaned and soaked it and it was as good as new -- but I cleaned the entire button also. I have not figured exactly why that happens but it has......sorry, buddy, wasn't thinking.......:facepalm::facepalm::blush::blush::blush:

Hey Chaos,

This is the same issue I've been dealing with for a while. You can read up on some of the advice that's been given to me here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/230298-rhodium-contacts-2.html

I haven't found Autosol in any stores but was able to locate Flitz locally which has been described as the same or similar type of product. Gun shops seems to carry Flitz.

flitz is as good as autosol is Vapor, so you did the right buy:)

Well, thanks to dspin and Major :)

And they had a nice little 4 piece kit... SS and Chrome Cleaner, Metal polish, Gun and Knife Wax, and a thick microfiber cloth for about $20.

Works unbelievable!!! :thumb:

some posts are steel and some are brass nickel -plated Vapor

Thank you. The reason why I ask is, just like Chaos, I cannot remove the newly developed black spots on my bottom cap post by cleaning it anymore. I was able to the first time but they came back and seem to be there permanently now right where it makes contact with the button post. Weird... You can see that my button post which I sanded and polished is starting to develop a small circle in the middle:

It's not black like it used to be when plating was there. I am hoping that if I sand and polish the bottom post that it would work better if it will be brass on brass. Is there a way to tell if it's brass or SS before sanding it down?

Btw, I ordered a new button from Bruce. He is also sending me a replacement fuse post since the one I got previously had threads which were not within specs. That should fix the problem permanently but I'm just curious how to make the best use of this current setup.

Thanks.
