Thank you for the interesting ideas carrielsal! You've sent me down quite a rabbit hold with that thread and the videos, but those coils are beautiful! At the end of the day I still think I'll opt for more of a traditional next step to making coils as this seems more like running before I can walk. But I wonder if I can think of a simple way to apply some more tension than I do now, but still using my regular screwdriver and hands method? Maybe I can hold one end of the wire with some pliers and hold the spool taught the way the guy does in the video? Plus the wire I have is thin 32g and I think a small amount of tension may snap it. Well, nothing to lose by trying except a bit of wire!!

I was thinking about it also, but I have been following a thread about tension in the coils. If you haven't seen it take a look at this thread, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/633436-tensioned-micro-coils-next-step.html

Check out drifter's latest video.

I wind mine my hand also. I use a screwdriver from an eyeglasses repair kit to build my coils. I had been looking at the little coil wrappers that are hitting the market and was thinking about buying one. When I first saw the Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo I was put off my its size. I'm really not into a lot of tinkering. BUT, if there really is a difference in quality of vapor production when tension is applied this may be worth the additional effort.

Not sure if you looked at the video's drifter has posted in the last few months, but he's got some good ones (and he's a down to earth kind of guy). Did you see this one?

Actually think KJ may have been the first to make custard without the diacetyl. Custards really do take a long time to develop... a month is generally when I go back to test them. I seem to prefer the ice creams and such over the custards but son panics when he starts on his last 30 or 50 ml bottle

b.m. Care to share the recipe?

What are you soaking the vanilla beans in??? Base or whisky?

the cap v2 i have been using recently is good the next day, it does get better w/time but is good and vapeable right away

I liked his style right away. I'm also not too into tinkering but these coils look so nice, and like you said, maybe the quality is worth making some effort. I am watching this one right now :) Thanks!

1. Todays pick is the Subtank Nano. I have 3 regular subtanks that I love, but just got the Nano the other day and haven't stopped using it since. I want a few more of the Nano's for juice that I don't want to vape 6 ml of before changing flavors. The Nano also fits nicely on my Istick 20 and I can use the1.2 ohm coils on it and take it with me when I leave the house. The Istick 50 with the regular subtank on it is kind of big to use on the go.

if I may ask, how much are you paying for the coils?

 HEY "YOU" - I resemble that remark . . . :img:

YEP - That too . . . Just won't tell Ya' how long I have held on to some Bottles of "E-liquid" for future testing/use . . .

Now on that note: Okay - I need to know how long a bottle of "E-liquid" can actually last before it should really be thrown out . . . Also - How to properly dispose of the liquid . . . THANKS :D

I think most companies say 6 months but in a dark place or frozen it could probably be doubled. I was told by some juice mfg'rs that nicotine will stay good almost forever if frozen

I've only bought coils once so far and I think I paid $16.95 with free shipping. I'm looking into rebuilding the stock coils though, I've been watching Youtube videos and they seem easier to rebuild that the mini protank 2 coils I've rebuilt. I'm just too lazy to try it right now.

I usually wait for a good sale and stock up on whatever coils I need. I have a lot of different tanks so buying coils gets expensive.

b.m. ...... Thanks for posting the recipe. This seems very close to the Vanilla Custard Tobac that so many seemed to go all wibbeley over around Christmas last year.

May have to try this too since I like playing with food. Will try speeding up the vanilla process a bit though with warm PG and then using my ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. If I like the results of the quickie batch, then will do a patient batch too :D It sounds really nice. Patience is just not something I have much of.

A 10% TA mix would be 1ml to 9 ml of the PG but probably close enough to get the desired results.
That's what i meant to type, that's what happens when i try to type and watch tv at the same time, while my wife is talking to me haha.I meant to say 1ml of ta,9ml of pg in a 10ml bottle haha.
It has been suggested to me to try the rayon being as I can't do the cotton, where can I find it in much smaller amounts?
Some vendors are selling it now,in like 5 foot lengths or so,but when i first tried it,i got 20 feet for like $5 on ebay. It's easier to work with than cotton, with cotton i always either got it too tight or too loose, and always got that funky cotton taste. With the rayon,i just pull it through the coil until it gets snug, clip it,wet it and go,much easier and no funky taste.

Not being a great coil builder and having little experience beyond protank coils and an igo L, I am somewhat intimidated by all of the dual and multi coil decks that I see. Almost every new dripper I come across has more than 2 posts. At this point I also would say my preference is for an rda to be designed for single coils, so I'm happy you posted this one. It looks very nice and I could also see my way clear to trying one ;)

If you can recoil protank coils or an Igo L any dual coil RDA will, believe it or not be easier, most if not all have holes rather than screws to pin the wire(s) down with and the deck space room to work is twice that of a Igo L and much easier to mount on than a protank coil.
give it a shot you will wonder why you didnt do it long ago :)

Kanthal, even 32 ga. has a pretty high tensil strength I would not worry too much about breaking it

I would love to see more custom parts for popular mods. It is so much better having a device and atty that work great, and then being able to make it your own. Custom topcaps, custom mod boxes and box mod doors, 20x1 buttons and topcaps, 20x1 tubes. cases for box mods that are as functional as phone cases are. Maybe a design a mod section with Custom etching available. These are the things I do to my mods to make them my own. Everyone wants something that is there own, with the way clones are and everything, individuality is key.

My prefered device is my ipv3 with my authentic kayfunv4 with s-kit and steamtuners spring update and koh gen do cotton. Because it has amazing flavor and is very simple to throw any build on and turn my watts to where I want it.

80vg/20pg flavor and clouds

I do diy sometimes. Love my vanilla and oak home extract

The first time I vaped I bought a dripper and mech then I was showed how to wrap a coil at the shop. "10 wraps for a 1ohm coil," I was told. So I wrapped up a coil, while telling her how I did something similar when I was little to make a light saber. Taped together 8d batteries and some wire. I finished my first build and she tested it. It came in at a perfect 1.00ohms.

I haven't been posting a lot as entries. That's because I have won quite a lot in the last 60 days. It's also because I've been at a show peddling my wares and have had precious little time...

f0bcc3aee884ea9c656667a51ada7733.jpg

And then I see something shiny... and I look at my collection and realize it's not quite where I want it yet...

So, on with another entry.

I bought (gasp) a Kamry K100 and a Rocket RTA (a Kayfun pseudo-clone) two days ago. I won't go so far as to call it my favorite topper, or my favorite mod... it's a bit ugly in that the tank overhangs the mod (anyone know where I can find an OEM gold anodized drip/beauty sleeve and a 510 xl carto? My mod did not come as the complete kit.) The airflow on the tank is a bit lacking. The coil I built (in my hotel room after purchasing the tank with no tools aside from the magic blue screwdriver and my pocket knife) heats a little slow. But, even though I have other choices, I keep reaching for that setup. It's growing me...

Finally back from grocery shopping. Had to be towed out of the snowbank, and it took two hours to get a tow truck to come.

Your brooms are really beautiful. I also love how you used those nice colors on them!

I am a big chocolate and coffee vape fan. My profile has changed a few times since I started, maybe more so due to me discovering what I like rather than buying things based on what I thought I would like and other peoples reviews. At the beginning I read so many posts about how hard it was to make a good chocolate and commonly saw reviews for chocolate juices that were horrible. So even though I love eat chocolate I never really bought any juice to try.

Then I was lucky to win a bottle of a juice that had chocolate and coffee and I was off to the races, seldom buying anything but chocolate and coffee variation for the next several months. Still to this day I put them at the top of my list, although I have broadened my stock to include other flavors for variety. Sure, some chocolates are better than others (and I have come across a few that truly are terrible) but I think there is something to be said for new vapers to try/sample everything they think they might like rather than getting too influenced by other opinions.

I love coffee vapes too, and they really are some of my favorites, but so far, I haven't found a chocolate that really tastes like chocolate to me. Maybe it's because I like cocoa better than chocolate. I'm not crazy about milk chocolate, and the only hot cocoa I really like is the kind I make myself with milk, sugar, vanilla, and that powdered baking chocolate.

Hey but i do have ;lots of egos, round mods and a Box troll, plus some 808D1s as well.

I find that the size holes are never small enough for the egos or 808s are too loose. Plus why all the places for drip tips??? or juice, sheesh....

But your right most look like I could make one out of scrap wood and the rtight size drill bits.

The holes for drip tips would be for people like me!!! :D
