I almost did it. I was prepared to pay my dues, card in hand. The recurring stopped me, at least for the moment. Don't like that.
NCC: I'm not sure about the monthly way, but if you pay it as a one time annual fee it is not automatic! I asked in Dec when I subscribed.

I paid via credit card when it came up the first time, no auto renewal, just an expiration date. I paid through paypal this time- and just canceled the subscription for next year- thanks mary_d. (Whiskey- i didn't get a renewal notice, but if you forget, the 'supporting member' line will probably disappear from from below your avy and you'll notice

Thank you Mary. Fact is, the means outlined in the quote did not work. There was no "subscriptions" sub-topic in the drop down menu to choose. But, on my main account page, following the 'details' link from the "Subscription Created To" line, I followed my nose to the solution. I was worried that canceling immediately after paying might enact an immediate cancellation, not what I had in mind. Apparently it worked as intended and the one year will expire on 2/17/2012.

It's 24.00 a year. They remove it from your paypal acct. once a yr. But look what you get. The best forum around and your able to help keep it the best.
Mvgratz: See my post #249. I had a problem with the subscription auto renewing. Mary_d suggested the solution which worked for me. Subscribe, and then cancel the subscription (via PayPal). You'll be a supporting member for the period you've paid. It will expire after that unless you renew it yourself. Works for me. I don't like automatic payments coming out of my account ... especially 12 months down the road, LOL.

I just wish there was another way other than paypal to contribute. I tried it out and it definitely needs paypal, unless I am missing something.
