Hi everyone, thanks for your replies, it is much appreciated! :)

I like the Aspire nx75a and the Mirage (a local shop still has some). Will look at the diodes as well!

I'm also interested in the kayfun Prime, but am worried about the learning curve. How difficult is it to build coils? If it's a big time investment, I'd rather just get the Zenith and a durable mod, perhaps.

Side-question: is there a good all-round mod, in case I want to try DTL?

Building coils is far far far easier than it is in most people's mind, but there IS a learning curve on wicking. For most it's a few tries before getting wicking right..

To learn building see if you can't find something with a raised deck like the Siren v2, those types of tanks are the easiest to learn on..

Aspire is a good consumer level mod. The Zenith is good but I'd wait for the Zlide. The Zenith has non-removable glass so a major pain when it comes to cleaning, you can't break it all down. The Zlide supposedly makes up for that. And you will be buying drop in coils which add up in expense.

The KF Prime is an excellent but finicky tank (IMO true for all the KF tanks). Great once you can get it to work. Dicodes is superb engineering, extremely reliable and comes with a 2 (or is it 3? I never remember) warranty. It's the sort of mod you can count on for many years of use.

After that' it's pick your poison and think real hard about your budget. Food you can skip. Rent or mortgage payments not so much.

Would it be a waste to put a Zenith or Zlide on a Dicodes, if I don't want a rebuildable tank?

So,my question now is: do I really need the expensive option? Or will the cheaper one be sufficient?

The cheaper will suffice (IMO), but the expensive option is NIIIIICE!

Some will say yes, I will say no. That's a $10 tank on a Dani Mini. In my group of favorites, for sure.

Building the actual coil is pretty easy. It takes like 1 minute to wrap a coil and it can last for months really. You can wrap 6 coils in 5 or so minutes and your good for a year or so. It's the wicking that takes practice, getting the correct amount thru coil is key, along with the correct lenght. Also once you get the correct amount thru coil, sometimes you must trim not only the lenght, but bulk from the ends. If your only talking about just the prime, then it could take you perhaps 10 tries, but you will figure it out. You should have a basic drop in tank as you figure this out, this way you have a working device as you are working out the wicking.....the prime is a great tank, but it isn't the easiest for sure. Besides a small deck, the juice control and airflow ring take a bit of practice, as they work on the same ring kind of and can add to frustration. Personally I would start on something a bit easier and then perhaps move to the prime. I would also recommend buying a clone at first, just to see if rebuilding is for you. The darvw was mentioned and for good reason, but it has a deck ring that also makes it slightly tricky, so imo that leaves the ehpro true mtl rta or the doggystyle rta, both vape every bit as good as the prime, the only real difference is perhaps build quality, but way easier to build. As for a mod that also can do sub ohm, it doesnt really work like that. A mod is a mod, just a battery, so they do not care if your vaping mtl or dtl, so if you buy a mod that is in the 40 to 75 watt range, you can try a sub ohm tank on it. The only reason a mod might be considered a sub ohm mod is how long it can fire before being recharged. Most subbers use much higher wattages and that can deplete batteries, so some opt for a 2 battery mod. With a mtl rta, you will be using high nic (12 to 24mg) but low wattage (10 to 20) and low juice consumption (maybe 5mls per day) a single 18650 will last for maybe 2 days. A sub tank uses high wattage, a different draw, and low nic (6mg) but high juice consumption (perhaps 15mls or more per day) so you definitely use more power. If you did change into a full time subber and didnt want to carry an extra battery, then a bigger , 2 battery mod is the answer....

Okay, so for now, I have two options in mind:

Cheaper and more practical: Zenith + Aspire NX75.
More expensive and finicky: Kayfun Prime + Dicodes Dani Box 80W.

So,my question now is: do I really need the expensive option? Or will the cheaper one be sufficient?

Thanks to everyone for helping me out! :)
the dicodes looks horrible for the money one minute

The cost of a setup has very little reflection on vape quality.
Meaning a zenith or kayfun won't taste better or produce more cloudz when used on a Dicodes compared to an istick 30, kroma / any power device capable of accurately outputting 8 - 30ish watts.

A kroma/zenith 'kit' is inexpensive, might just start with simple so you don't end up with $500 worth of stuff you have no need for to suit your preferences.

You don't 'have to' use an RBA to get an excellent vape reliably, some folks enjoy fiddling with their vape gear, others enjoy a more simple approach.

There is no right or wrong way, or good/better/best, everything is a matter of personal preferences & different methods used to get to the same place.

Do you 'need' to buy high dollar gear? No.
If you 'want' $$$$ gear plenty of folks around here have a passion for spending other people's money on their ideas, what they want, or what they use.

I'm leaning more towards the quick and easy Aspire NX75 + Innokin Zlide. A step up from the Zelos, but without turning it all into a hobby (with the expensive gear). Maybe I'm ignorant, but I don't think the difference would be all that significant.

Also, I don't vape TV, I set my Zelos on 14W with a 1.8 ohm coil and kept it like that for a year haha.

That being said, I'll look at videos on how to build coils and decide whether I want to spend time on that. If it truly is a huge difference, I might change my mind. Ideally, if someone tried both Kayfun and Zenith/Zlide for MTL, I'd like to hear their opinion.

What Topwater Elvis said. Decide what you want and look for it on sale. Google is good for that. Read the reviews and the topics of discussion where members talk about their recent purchases. There's always difference of opinion, but a high number of likes on a given product is safer than buying the latest and greatest before the masses chip in with their opinion.

Ah, no worries @regnum05. I'm from a little further up north.

As I mentioned earlier about the YiHi SXmini SL class, vapetime.co.uk have a limited selection on sale at £98.99 with free delivery.
SXmini SL Class - Steel/Grey Tang

That would be a major upgrade to what you've been used to using, and one of those Ulton KF Lite clones from 2fdeal as original or clone they'll work just the same. Then you're not that much out of pocket.
