Best Temperature control mod for under $150 (Thats not a DNA 40)

So I contacted Evolv and they will replace my dna 40 which i think is amazing.... Anyway still in the market for a new mod because it seem like you cant have enough Thanks everyone for the recommendations!
Anyway since ill be getting my dna 40 back up and running within the next few months (I live in Australia and shipping takes a age) it would be nice to try out a YiHi chip especially if i want to try out so Ti wire....
So i've really concentrated my search to YiHi chip mods

ipv d2 - looks great cant seem to be able to buy it yet and not really interested in waiting
IPV3 Li - Looks great bit lost as to why it cost $20 more than the IPV4s - probably the best option so far
IPV4s - well they fixed alot of the issues however that plastic cover just gets hate from everone that owns it so it a hard buy - also having a hard time figuring out warranty periods
sx mini - I understand that it uses the sx350m instead of the sx330 but the price difference seems unfounded I really see little difference between this and the IPV3 li and IPV4s especially after the current software upgrades are installed...
Snow Wolf - I know it does not have a YiHi chip but for what you pay now it seems alright what do you guys think about this one is the chip just to inaccurate?

are there any otherYiHi TC Mod boxes worth looking at! not the biggest fan of pioneer4you aesthetics!!

The new Smok XCube II has a strong case on paper for being by far the best TC mod under $150 - and it's only $60/£60. In fact overall the second best TC mod of all, second only to DNA 200 mods and possibly Dicodes-based mods, both of which cost two to three times as much as the Smok.

I emphasise on paper, because it all depends how reliable and accurate the mod is. The features are excellent, and the TC support also seems great. But it remains to be seen how well it works in practice, and there's definitely some oddities to it.

I just got mine today, and will be testing it thoroughly as soon as possible. Results will be in this thread: Smok X Cube II 160watt TC Bluetooth $55.9 coupon | E-Cigarette Forum and hopefully a video or two as well.

Note that it's dual-battery and big and quite heavy, so the form factor might not be for everyone.

I have a SXminiM and I'm looking for a dual 18650 mod. Current short list is the IPV4S and IPV3LI.

Well from what I've see nearly all IPV mods have are duel battery apart from the D2 which is not yet out and the SX Mini which is a bit pricey for me and really doesn't do anything aesthetically for me.... so while the idea of getting 4 more battery so I have a spare 'married' pair is not exactly something that im looking forward to it seems like i have little choice....

For the record does anyone else use YiHi Chips apart from IPV and sell there mods at a reasonable price (ie within my price range)

- And also for anyone that's wondering I really do like DNA 40 still, the fact that there chips come with a 1 year warranty is awesome in a world of ecig hardware which never seems to have more than 3-4 months warranty that all said cant help but want to try what the competition is offering for my next mod box.... So thanks and sorry for changing my mind to everyone that recommended some really nice DNA 40 devices...

If your looking to buy only one (or even two) new box mods, I would wait another month or two. No matter what anyone thinks of evolv, the DNA 200 is setting the standard for performance, price and community support. By the fall there will be DNA 200 mods readily available in the roughly $150 range and likely several at even less than that. If a DNA 200 isn't your flavor of choice, no matter because evolv's level of customer / vaping community support will force other companies to follow suit or be left behind.

Sigelei makes single and dual 18650 mods with customized YiHi chips. The Sig75TC is well reviewed.

The Sigelei mods are not using YiHi chips. They're using the same chip that's in the Laisimo SnowWolf 200W but with newer firmware. Just look at Laisimo's new mod coming out compared to the Sig 75W TC.

The KangXin Mini VF has been very impressive - at any price - and I'm a techie that's
very hard to please.

It started when I figured I'd get a cheap one to experiment with until these mods got
serious, and I can truthfully say this unit meets all my needs right now, it just works,
1 to 50 Watts, the control algorithms are very good, the quality and feel of the
hardware is great.

I've had an eLeaf and a Heatvape Defender and only the KangXin is in that
"you know it when you hold it" > $150 class.

I got my first one for $37.xx shipped, it took 3 weeks. For $6 more they do a
4 business days type shipping. The customer service is surprisingly good.

It appears to be exactly the same chip/firmware as the more costly Heatvape Invader
Mini, but it's got a flashlight built-in instead of the rubbery finish, a bit strange but
there you go, you don't have to use it.

I've ordered a third one and I'm using them with Kanthal in WC mode, and Nickel
and Titanium in TC mode. A big advantage of the KX50D chip is that you can set
wattage in TC mode, it controls how fast the temp is reached. In fact you can set
the wattage low enough that it NEVER reaches the set temp. I disagree with the
ones that run fixed wattage in TC mode, you have no way to back off on the gas.

These KangXins have worked with any coil I throw on it, 2 ohms or less, and
they recognize TC capable coils automatically. In practice, you can just set a
temp, say 330F for Ti, and then then just use the wattage as a "gas pedal",
to add a little more power for a specific juice or air flow.

Since it will enter and leave TC mode depending on the coil wire, you can use
Kanthal and one TC metal at will and only have to change Target Temp if you switch
the TC metal, say put up a Nickel coil after using Titanium. I do prefer 24-28 AWG
Titanium.

To use Titanium wire we set the temp 90 degrees F below what we'd set it for
Nickel and it regulates just fine, so for a Ti coil, setting the temp limit to 330F
is about the same as setting it to 420F with Nickel, that's just below the cotton
singe temp. Very simple.

So I ended up getting the IPV3 Li half of the reason was it was in stock near by so i could get it in 2 days the other reason was the only other competition had such bad warranty periods or just look terrible imo
While i still can figure out what its current specs really are because every one just advertise its old before the updates specs imo it will keep me staified and give me no reason to get the DNA 200.... while technically imo the DNA 200 is a fair more advanced chip the YiHi chip gets the job done
YiHi 330XXXXXX what ever it is now.... IMO these specs are as good as it get ATM
10-200w Kanthal (my biggest issue here is the Min is only just low enough i often vape at 10 - 12 watts
10- 100J - Ti - no experience so i cant say but i doubt it will be needed
10-50J? Ni 200 - well with my DNA set to 15w all my single coil builds were hitting the Temp ceiling almost instantly so the need for more than 50J seems unlikely..... honestly i'm yet so see a build take much time to hit that temp ceiling.... that said RipTripper says the DNA 200 make 0.5- 0,7ohm builds really shine so maybe i will need a DNA 200
0.05Ohm Ni 200 & Ti 1 Min so no issue with dual coils
0.1 Kanthal - I think i would have a hard time getting any of my kanthal to even read that low lol
3 month warranty so IPV has no faith in the mod box?
So it will turn into my desk mod i think!

The things that stopped me getting the snow wolf was the 30day warranty and the inconstancy with Temp control from full to empty battery according to riptripper (wow i quoting him a lot only seen 4 off his video and so much learnt )

FYI that Kangxin Mini VF 50W looks interesting and the light bulb had me confused for a while lol But when it come down to it its hard to say no to a Eleaf TC knowing there decent rep and pick up a clones mod for $10 more...... ever if it has a light bulb.... Think a beer bottle opener would have done it however!
I may have also grabbed a Eleaf TC mod box while i was at it so i never have to suffer vaping my ego one all day !

u cant go wrong with sigelei or p4you, they offer the best bang for the buck mods... and seriously... u dont need all that power anyway, most vapers are comfortable at 30-50 as an all day vape, 50-200 you will go through juice and battery life rather fast, i can only think of special occasions or drinking nights will you want to go that high

if you dont mind the plastic cover, ipv4s is an excellent choice, it has everything the ipv3 li has except a metal battery door and extra 80 watts from 120 to 200, when i got it, i was afraid i was going to get some plastic cheap junk, but be warned though.. u need a silicone cover or a vapor skinz wrap, the paint comes off very very easy

sx mini... that battery door..... had it been designed with an latch i would've bought that instead...
ipv d2 - is like a mini version of the ipv4s, it has a nice small form factor but for a little more money you can get the ipv4s with more power
ipv 3 li - i almost bought this but the older design turned me off, it is still a nice mod, u might like it, i dont, the battery door design is a plus though

yer the biggest turn of for most of the IPV model for me was how they looked honestly the IPV4s really just does not do it for me and in its silver color its positively hideous imo the same goes for the sx mini it looks like something out of the 90's with that silver finish it would complement by hideous grey CRT monitor in the garage perfectly.... the D2 is alright no one will go wow thats a thing of beauty but they also wont think you stole the Grandpa's pager lol..... IMO the ipv 3 li looks the best well that might be a over statement like it is just a black box, guess that's like calling any plain colored box 'timeless', the touch senser is looks ridiculous but at least you can just turn it off and they fixed the battery door at least i think that what they did is a fix lol i will see!!

going to have to run it for the first week on un married batteries (bought at a similar time all samasung 25r's) but i'm sure the world will not end or my hand for that matter.

FYI here in Auss there used to be a TV add in which they claimed that after 40 years of smoking you would have spent enough on cigs to get a yacht you would not by chance have seen a count down to owning yacht in savings Banner?

I think you made a good choice. I have the li and love it. Have not updated it yet. Was told some places are shipping with the new fw already installed. So I guess it depends how old their stock is. I have a smok tct on mine and it will do 50j in ni mode before the update. Had mine a couple weeks and no issues. I had the ipv3 and it was a tank. So if the li is as reliable we will be in good shape.

First let me say that today makes 2 years of being off cigarettes. 29,200 cigarettes avoided and boy can I feel it. In celebration, I just purchased a Sigelei 150W TC that came with a free Sigelei Elite tank V2. I also got a 4 pack of Samsung INR 25R added on. Total cost with shipping...$113.50. I love it when I can reward myself!

I did a week of intense reviewing and talked with everyone I could call all over the country getting info on TC devices. I determined that in my situation I needed to go with dual batteries. That leaves little room for smaller devices. The Sigelei 150 TC is 103mm x 57mm x 25mm. About the size of my wallet, so I could live with that. Now I can get into the TC arena and keep my Provari 2.5 as a backup.

I have the ipv3 LIVR which is updated ipv3 with 200w. Between that and my snow wolf tc is world's better than my old dna40 IMO. I alternate days with these 2 right now.
