Another observation. The 510 connection seems short. I had to adjust the copper pin out quite a ways for it to even make contact on my Vaporshark. Additionally, it tends to screw back as you turn the 510 once it does make contact. I might see about putting an oring or something under the screw. Any suggestions? Would a regular oring work?

I got mine today and did a 1ohm 28 ga dual coil with cotton wick. it is about the same as my orchid v2 and v3 with more capacity. i have it filled with gambit 6mg and it has loads of throat hit and really good flavor and vapor. as it is set up it is better at lung hitting than mouth to lung. maybe its how its set up but mouth to lung hits like 18mg. the coils are about 1 mm above the air holes

Try a 2 x 1 metric one.

ran home and put in a dual coil (1ohm total - 28 gauge ) wicked with rayon - loaded with blue label elixir - "daddy's" - happy i got this - beginners luck again - blowing clouds on the first set up - my 510 connection works fine on my rDNA 30 -no complaints... yet... its a lot taller than my ehpro kayfun v2... lots of flavor and clouds compared to the ehpro kayfun... not regretting this purchase...

best regards!

Would love to see pics of the wicking since I don't yet have an orchid or fogger.

Roxy, I posted a pic of my wicking a few pages back.

That's my project for tomorrow if I can find the time. Ridiculous. I was using 26g, being tremendously careful, and I couldn't get a solid connection between my coil legs and the poles because of the handy-dandy wire-cutters they helpfully installed within the posts.

I already tried swapping screws, though I have more options. And I have a couple other slightly more complicated alternate solutions for tomorrow or the next couple days.

Honestly, I love these Orchid/Frankentanks, but I'm beginning to expect a surprise mod job with each new version. It's like belonging to a project club: "Here's your new device! Take a look, try it out and determine the problem, then share your most creative solution with the group! Loads of fun!" If it's not the fill hole screw on the Infinite clone spinning endlessly because of crummy threading and a tapering, unthreaded end on the screw (replaced with well-cut, non-tapering 6mm M2 screw), it's the machining on the Tobeco v4 that set the positive holes so close together on the block that the pan heads of the screws were too big to share the space (replaced with grub screws). That's not even counting version one with only one air hole and without a fill hole. Or the lack of walls around the dual air holes to minimize/eliminate leaking.

I LOVE the Orchid and its many variants, but cotdang! this simple tank that should be the answer to many prayers has been plagued with monumentally stupid design flaws from the beginning, and loads of machining or sourcing problems/bad quality assurance/small design flaws in its iterations. And that is exactly why I didn't pick up the $150 authentic to begin with, though I was very tempted, not to mention dropping another $150 for what's essentially the Infinite v2!

It's like the restaurant in your neighborhood that changes owners every year or two. It's got a great location; the new owners always have a good idea, but the damn thing ALWAYS goes out of business due to one or more large and small mistakes. The neighbors eventually say, "That location is cursed." Which is probably true, but the cause of death is always one or more of the following: bad service, poor execution, bad health scores, menu items that sound great but include utterly bizarre combinations like the "Classic organic Blueberry Pancakes" that the newly-graduated Culinary Institute chef decides to "re-invent" as a single, fluffy mass of thick buckwheat batter with dried blue- and açai berries, a hempseed-bacon coulis and a compound turmeric-coconut oil "mousse."

I'm probably still just irritated by the only atty I've ever lost 6 or 7 (or 8) 26g coils on. I'd delicately tighten the screws, sacrificing ideal contact, only to have them snap as soon as, holding my breath, I tried ever-so-gently to slightly adjust the position of the coil, then: Snap! Ah, but what beautifully clean cuts!

I did just finish vaping the first tank (dual 26g 8/9 wraps, reading between .7 and .92 b/c of the screws) and the flavor was really excellent. As was the vapor. So I still have high hopes. And I have an empty tank ready for a break-down and a good challenge. I shall prevail. I can't wait to really enjoy this thing.

You are so right on with your description of the never ending release of new attys!!! I had the same exact problem yesterday with a Tobh v2 cutting my beautiful hand crafter 26ga 10 wrap coils!! I took the screw out and the bottom looked like it was and unclean cut with a hacksaw. It was super sharp! So i've had to do this "fix" before and I'm about ready to do it by default just like washing the grime out when I first get a new atty. Remove the screw, pinch the head in needle nose vice grips and file the sharp bottom till its smooth and slightly rounded. PITA!!! oh, lets not forget about the screw that rust after you wash them too! haha

Sorry, inswva, either I missed it or forgot ;)

This would be a very different tank for me compared to my others. No orchid or fogger practice here.

I don't have any Orchid or Fogger experience either. I just looked at some pics of Orchid wicking and mimicked it. I chopped the tails right at the deck above the juice channels. It's working like a champ. It's running ~60W-65W on my mech and keeps up just fine.

Okay... first build in the books. And, because I'm a whack job, I opted for a .25ohm build to run on my Workhorse, lol. Yes, it wicks just fine at ~65W, heh. This was my first "Orchid style" wick job so I just kind of winged it (wicked with KGD). So far, so good. Airflow is very good and it's not too hot at these power levels. Running it on my regulated boxes requires high power as well due to the voltage limitations. I'll put a more sensible build in it next time around but I wanted to really push it to see what it can do.

Flavor and vapor production are very good. It's hard to compare to my Lemos since I'm using a juice I've never used before. Build was super easy and I love the way this tank goes together. Copper pin is very easy to adjust and it holds ton of liquid. This thing will definitely give my Lemos a run for their money.

Ugh, the notorious hack saw'd screws that you can use when you can't find your X-acto. I feel ya. I am going to adopt your new atty method. I forgot about the creeping rust screws and the screws that are so soft that you treat them like eggs the first time you tighten down on a coil. At least I've built up my replacement screw, o-ring and nut collection over the last few months. I'd forgotten about the cheap knurled nuts with a total of TWO whole threads to tighten down.

Today, I have to say, I returned to the Billow with a fresh brain, gently tightened the screws a bit more, re-wicked a little differently for that tiny chamber... and I've got a solid 26g 8/9 wrap at .5ohms that's vaping like a dream. So far I really like this tank. No leaking, fills well without a syringe or needle-nose bottle, very good flavor, and wicking's easy so far. As long as I don't adjust my coils (for now). haha

But before I build again, I am going to approach it when I'm fresh and my patience meter is at 100%, and put it to rights. There's nothing more frustrating than treating 26g (!!) gently than having your perfect 5th try snap off at the posts. Unless I'm sitting down to experiment with a coil build, or if I'm working with a device with a new, revolutionary design, I expect to spend 5-10 minutes building and adjusting my simple dual coil set-ups.

I have set it up exactly the same way as I have my Orchid, same juice too...

Is it just me or this Billow produces less vapor/flavor/throat hit then Orchid?

vSUUNcV.jpg

Set mine up today with ni200 30 ga dual coil 16 wraps each side with 0.15 ohm 430f 28watts

Same flavor as orchid... Maybe a smidge better... Vapor... A little less and crazy throat hit.. But it whistles like a lot more... Gotta chamfer those air holes
