One thing occurred to me. When all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, what was working fine stops working, try rinsing out the cart well and drying it. Then cut a new piece of foam and put it in. In other words Start over from scratch! It seems that the foam will work well for a few carts then stops. I suppose you could clean it well and dry it also. I cut long strips of blue foam using a paper cutter like this BRAND NEW: 15 X 12 PAPER CUTTER METAL BASE office/tools - eBay (item 250547073448 end time Dec-18-09 14:53:02 PST) to about 1/4" thickness and just keep clipping about a 3/4" piece to use as a "slug" whenver I need a new one. You can get hundreds of slugs from one package of blue foam. I think maybe the "cart demons" only attack used slugs.

Whoa, a super slug cutter! lol.. Sweet! Ya know i thought of something like that long ago as i've used something like that at a Kincos before. Didnt know they had a small version of a paper cutter though. :)

Nice! I could see spending a day cutting up a thousand slugs for resale! hehe.

Oh, i usually pat my slug dry durring every refill. Gota clear all those passage ways to make sure it will wick. Clugged up slug is no good. So i hear ya on that. Though this slug is an old slug that i'm using right now and its all good.

When 8PM hits and i start to have probs i'll surely grab a new slug to see if that cures the cart Demons.

Only 68 mins of pure bliss to trouble will show up! hehe.

Still going strong since the 2nd refill.

I have read alot of this thread and things keep being changed. I do not know which way to go to make this. Maybe make a new thread explaining this again. Would be most helpful.

Not really.. the Plug and the Slug are the same.. Once the HV slug is final i'll have the forum mods change the first link to point to the newest version for the HV Slug.

So really theres currently 3 final versions of the plug.. the last one was a bust - Shotgun slug. I'll have the mod remove that link.

As usuall.. people change the size of the plug to fit there needs as e-juice comes in different thicknesses. Dont let the HUGE post scary you away.. The links to the final product is on the front page in the first post and my current version will always be in my Signature so people can find it quickly.

Thanks eclypse. Not as confusing since you explained this. I will be keeping my eye out for the HV one.

No reason to wait around for me.. Just make the slug as normal at 1/4" wide and 3/4" long and insert it upside down and vape away!

Still going good over here with the HV Slug.

I guess the cart mod demons are late and busy messing with someone else.. or they thought they did such a number on me yesterday that it was all that was needed! hehe.

Thanks again Pete!

OK so I went out and bought the cool blue foam filter from PAGE 1...exactly the same product as in your pictures. Now, forgive me for not reading all the pages of this thread (its a flipping novel!) but I am hearing a lot about a "plug". What is this plug you are referencing and why won't the blue foam alone work? Can I just cut out a piece of foam, stick it in and call it good? Or is this plug necessary? Sorry, I'm just a bit overwhelmed. And clarification would be extremely helpful as I don't have a fishtank to use my new filter in :p.

The first page has the links to all versions.. Forget the 3rd one for now.

No you cant just cut a random piece and call it good.. You may get lucky eye balling it though. Not that big of a deal to cut though with the way i shown. You'll end up making a crap load in no time after cuttin a few long strips.

You can just shove a piece down in the cart and fill it up.. though its too dense and will hold alot of juice down in the cart after you think its dry.

Plug works best as its all that needed to hold the juice in the cart. The juice will be right where you want it to be and thats right there at the atty ready to wick when needed. No straws or filler taking up space in the cart.. so you'll get maximum space for your juice.

When its time to refill, remove the plug with a pair of tweezers and pat the plug dry between a paper towel and fill up the tank and reinsert it.. add a drop or 2 on top if needed. You wont beable to just top off like you may be used to.

Personally i would have nightmares trying to cut the original again! lol.. Thats why i like the slug more. Its easy to cut.

The slug should last a long time.. but if it starts to give you problems change it out. I guess it could lose its springiness overtime.. though i have not experianced it myself yet.

For using a high voltage device 5-6+ volts use my new HV slug.. Just flip the slug over and insert it backwards and your good to go!

MAKE SURE TO WASH IT GOOD FIRST! Theres some lind of wax coating on the foam and you'll need to wash it off.

Good luck!

Well i think i've discovered what the prob i was having the other night.

Its the machined button on my Xhaler. It needs cleaning! Rubing alcohol is not getting the job done. It must be tarnished pretty good.

Here late nonight i was haing probs with the Xhaler seeming weak.. So for the hell of it i tried 6 volts on my Black Silver Bullet. It was like holy cow! Theres that harsh nasty taste after 2-3 hits that i remember from the other night.. Pull the cart and look at it and its moist. Put the batts back in the Xhaler and it was fine but obviously much weaker. I started thinking maybe something is wrong with the 510 adapter on it. So i grab a 3.7v battery and slap it in it and pretty much no vapor. Just a hair to let me know that its working. Ok.. just to make sure the battery isint about dead i slap the same one in the BSB and bamb.. working strong! Put the multimeter on the batt and its reading 4.24v. Ok something is wrong with the 510 adaptor as its flaking out.. Weak all day yesterday and then at night its strong and then all day today its weak and just now its strong again for a hit or 2. Also the whole time i'm listening close to the atty.

So anyways, it dawned on me its possably the switch on it and it prob need a cleaning.. if not its the adapter.

Point.. I dont know if this slug is truely ready for HV 6V mod as it was harsh as in not wicking fast enough to keep up with the demand. Who knows what voltage is really coming out at this moment in my Xhaler.. Seemed better then the SB with a 4.24v battery.. So i'm guessing its runing upper 4s or 5volts.

No idea if a tarnished switch lowers voltage or not.. just guessing it does. I thought it would just hurt firing off but who knows.

So tomorrow if i get a chance i'll try taking apart the switch and clean it.. if not i'll have to wait till Sunday as i hear i'll have a babysitter and lots of free time.

I hope to hear from more people with high voltage mods to see if the HV Slug is wicking good enough for them. has not been offically released but its just a slug turned upside down.

Try it and let me know!

Quick update...

My Xhaler is now fixed. The mechanical button just needed a cleaning.

Tested 3.7v and its working strong so its now all good. 6 volts is killer! Would love to have 5v. I'm going to experiment with getting that later on hehe.

Anyways.. the HV mod is working. At the moment you just cant go all off on it as the atty over heats after 3 or so hits in a row chain vaped. let it cool down and then resume. I'm sure most people that use HV know this.

Gona try messing with the HV mod as i can today.

Again.. if your using a HV 5-6V device please give me your thought on a Fliped over Slug called the HV slug.

eclypse,
I find that the inverted slug works better on my BB at 6v than on my Protege at 3.7v. It seems to suck the juice better. I dunno.

Yeah thats why i mentioned its for HV! hehe. If you wont the above correctly and not the other way around then cool.

Me.. i'm having probs with it and i keep adjusting the size down. Works better at 3 16ths wide by 3 16ths thick by 3/4" long. But its still runing dry too early and i have to poke the thing to get the juice back on top.. found it a little easier to just pull the cart off and shack it till the juice runs down to the slug.

So.. with Drews Nhaler thick juice (VG), its not wicking efficently enough to say its good. Have not giving it a go with thinner juice yet.

Ahh.. Nice.. Just tried to take a hit and that atty is DEAD! Sweet. :(

Has anyone tried to use Sham Wow as a cart mod? I tried the blue foam and found that there was a lot of leaking. Sham Wow has superior wicking properties as you know from the commercials. I cut a piece smaller than the diameter of of my cart but the same length. I pulled apart the fibers to fluff it out. This tiny piece of material held about 15 drops of fluid. (my carts are pretty small). It seems to work really well but the e cigs I have right now produce very poor vapor (Intellicig EVO) no matter what I have tried. I am waiting for my DSE910. Any body game to try my idea?

Its been tried many of times.. people said it held the juice and dont wick. So a search on these forums and read.

So I tried the blue foam mod all day today. Had a hard time getting the size of my "U" shape right. Once today however, I got it just right and managed to EMPTY THE CART!!!!!! I was so happy as I've never done that before; always had to top it off and direct drip after like 4-5 hits. But that one glorious attempt netted me about 20-30 nice long draws before I got burnt taste. Took out the plug and bang, found a bone dry cart. Need to keep messing with this and perfecting the technique but you are right in stating that I will NEVER go back to stock polyfill! Massive ups to you for sharing this eclypse! :D:D:D
