Oh. Why? I was wondering how to stuff it back in the cone... trying to tighten it going straight down gets the wick stuck in the threads... and pushing them straight up seems counter intuitive.

Then I was wondering if I should butane torch it first to get rid of the spare threads... or um... will I melt them? I just got back from CVS with a fresh bag of organic cotton balls... so I could probably just practice shoving organic cotton balls through the coil if I burn it up... off to find the butane torch:).

Also the tails of the wick have to go down the sides on to the deck, the juice flows up the 2 channels, where the wick, soaks up the juice. I never got silica to work for me though, I use sterile cotton, and it just works better. Good luck. Do not torch the wick mounted on the devise!

Ok, I won't torch it on the device... I discovered that my brand new butane torch has no butane?!@#$#@ Why would anyone sell a butane torch with no butane? Now I have to go get some butane anyway. I was ALMOST tempted to torch it on my glass torch before I came to my senses.

I'll go watch the video before I get in trouble...

My butane torch came unfilled. I think that's the way the come. You can use your glass torch but very carefully, I've used it to anneal wire before or don't you have a soldering micro torch?

I just use a bic lighter, it just needs to be red hot.

This was the trickiest part for me last night when I built my first coil. My old eyes were crossing and uncrossing trying to thread that cotton through the coil. A little spit and twist and it was all good (<------that's what she said).

I also had to keep reminding myself that with cotton, less is more, less is more.

that is why i got this Spin and Store Desk Lamp | Crafting Lamps and Lights - Ottlite
it was on sale i think at michaels with like 40% coupon plus they gave me more for military discount for veterans day.

it works really great with all the TINY .... in all these RBA's for us old folks hehe.

Edit: the tray around the base is great for tips, batteries and tanks and also mine has 3 different magnifiers

I would wrap the Kayfun and try to makle a 1.1 or 1.2 ohm coil. Thats what I do for my Provari. Incredible flavor and vape. I do a micro coil on a 5/64 drill bit ....7 wraps with 28 Kanthal

This is my go to build for the KF for my Provari. I vape it at 3.4v which is about 9.63 watts. I find higher than that I get a burnt taste but as is vapes very juicey and just right for me.

not the same as sophia, the sophia uses nr - r - nr wire (non resistance-resistance-non resistance wire) to make the coils if you are doing them yourself.

Yes, but that should not deter anyone from the Sophia. I have never built a single coil, so you can't get more n00b than this redhead. The fact that the wires for the Sophia coils are NR-R-NR is no problem when there are Kanthal Ready Wires from Stormy's! (Thanks, technonut!)

OK... wow... where to start?!

I have one of those magnifying lights... mine's the floor standing model tho. I'll drag it into my new vape lab/bathroom, great idea!!!

Ok... I just watched the video from PBusardo... and um... I think what I have IS the original Kayfun Lite... with what appears to be a better fit and finish. Under 40x magnification, there are less flaws in my components than the authentic Kayfun PBusardo was working on. If this isn't the real deal, it's better than the real deal. It's identical, right down to the tapering on the top of the little inside cone thing... with one difference... this one has the airflow controller at the base the Russian does. I just checked it out, and one of the tiny screws in the bag will fit in that airflow hole and screw in too if you want to have a 'control' over that airflow. Pretty wild!

The 'airflow control' hole from the Russian:

The screw removed again and how TINY it is compared to the tip of my finger (which is 1/2" wide):

The 'regular' flawlessly finished teeny airhole from the Kayfun Lite (the little screwhole is on the left next to it):

This little machine is a marvel!!

I have some questions now.

1. I don't have 28 gauge Kanthal as he used in the video, I have 32 gauge Kanthal. Can I just wrap it a few more times as a coil if I measure the proper length based on the ohms chart?

2. I don't own a resistance meter. Can I wrap it, and use the Provari to dry fire and test the ohms, or is there a reason I MUST have a resistance meter? I saw him say on the video not to fire the cotton without saturating it, so I won't do that... but before I try wrapping, would like to know the answer to these 2 questions, and tips if any.

Thanks:).

Ok... PBusardo said in the video that he does a 1.8 ohm wrap for the Provari, and does a 1.2 or 1 for a DNA20. Why do a 1.1 or 1.2 for the Provari?

This advise is so, so, so, so, so IMPORTANT!!

The wicks (or cotton which is superb ) MUST be able to be long enough to go to the bottom and laid down, covering those two areas where you see the "juice channels" that go into the round cylinder. If the cotton is not laid across that area, your tank will probably leak. If it ever does leak, the wick or cotton is not laid down in front of those two channels. Its that simple.

I'm using 28 ga kanthal and the lower ohms heats up the coils faster. I like the lower resistance and my juice tastes better at 1.2 ish ohms. You can certainly try it at the higher ohms just up the voltage and you can achieve the same power (watts). Since you are using 32 ga I would go ahead and build at higher ohms but generally with thicker gauge wire lower ohms is preferred to heat up the coils.

You dont have to. I ran mine aroundm 1.8 or so at first. If your chasing taste and clouds, the lower the better (to me). If your at 1.0 Ohm, the Provari will not fire.

It actually vapes fine at 1.5 or 1.8 or whatever.

STORY TIME......

But I hang around a vape shop on Saturdays and Thursdays and they have workshops and we help each other out and visit and all..... ANYWAY....most of them are mechanical guys and gals and they go sub ohm vaping blowing HUGE clouds. They saw my kayfun and vaped it and loved it,,,then one dude says.. "hey, lets see how low we can go".

We found out ....we got to 1.2, then a 1.1 and the taste and vape was like BAZINGA !! WOW. We passed it around like we were Indians at a Pow wow for about 45 minutes.

At this point, some die hard Mech guys were actually interested in getting a Provari and a Kayfun clone or original....just to have them for the sheer convenience of the huge tank along with the way it vaped and tasted.

Yeah, you can take out the wick or cotton and test it on the ProVari...... or wet the wick or cotton really good and test the ohms.
