I like my IGO L...simple to build, simple to use. Pull the drip tip, eight drops of juice, re-install drip tip and vape away! 1/16th inch drill bit for a mandrel, 32 gauge Kanthal, cotton wick. About five wraps give me 1.8 ohms.
Temco is about the cheapest Kanthal source. This is the url for 30 gauge...$5.48 for a hundred feet shipped! Other sizes available of course!

IMO, the IGO-L does the job, does it well, and does it cheap. No need to spend a bunch of money until you've tried the whole thing and decided whether or not you like it. Personally, I do microcoil/cotton builds. I find them easier than traditional coil/silica builds and get way better results. I do 8ish wraps of 28g, but I aim a little lower than the 2ohms you mentioned, so yeah, you'll likely be good with 30g. Discount Vaper is usually a good deal, if they are in stock. If not, just search around a bit, the IGO-L isn't hard to find, nor is a deal on kanthal. You can get your organic cotton from your local drugstore, one bag should pretty much last forever.

Excellent, thank you... im interested in micro coils as well. there is prolly a million threads about this but if you dont mind me asking, do you aim lower for a particular reason? warmer vape? quicker draw?

Im big on visuals, do you happen to have a pic of how your micro looks like with cotton and all? im now reading about wrapping around the wick vs wrapping and sliding the cotton trough.

thank you!

super advice.

i would like offer for increased ease of use and durability; if one were so inclined it would be beneficial to go with an igo-w either with a single holed top cap (which is currently out of stock at kidney puncher) or pick up an igo-l to use the top cap from it on the igo-w.

this will give you the option of just inserting the coil legs into posts once the coils are built. makes it easier than trying to keep a coil positioned and intact while wrapping the legs around post screws.

also, a good set of m2 x 4mm stainless screws are a good investment. the igo(s) are decent products, but the screws that come with them are poor quality and have a lot of play on the threads and a bad cut in the phillips slot on the heads.

i'm likely in the minority, but i prefer cap head hex screws in this area. i'm systematically switching everything i can to these... McMaster-Carr

now, i wouldn't probably even consider this if i were using an allen wrench, but with a quality 1.5mm hex driver or t-wrench, these screws are heaven to work with. i just happen to have a full set of EDS drivers for my RC hobby that work great and hold the screw very well... EDS RACING PRODUCTS ONLINE STORE - RC TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES - ALLEN WRENCH 1.5 X 45MM - (Powered by CubeCart)

there are plenty of other quality drivers, but that's the one i use.

as far as making micro coils for cotton wicks, check out the gizmo. super_x_drifter has a vid using it here... Micro Coil 101 - Making A Perfect Micro Coil Using The Coil Gizmo By Artistic Wire - YouTube

it's available here... Amazon.com: Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo(R) Deluxe Winder for Jewelry Making: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

also available at some craft stores. micheals and i believe ac-moore have been mentioned. look out for their circulars for discounts.

though, as far as a rebuildable for all day use goes, it's hard to beat a REO. the flavor and intensity of a dripper, the capacity of a tank and no fiddling. just squonk and go. build your coil to suit your taste.

...blah, blah, blah...links, links, and more links...

Great advice here, and I second your advice to go with the Igo-W over the Igo-L. I converted all my Igo tanks over to allen head SS machine screws last February, so you're not in the minority. I think a lot of people do it. It's a simple, yet classy, upgrade.

Awesome. I placed an order. Igo-L, some cotton, 30g kanthal, some silica wick and im on my way to michaels to buy the coil cheater gizmo.

Thank you all for the advice!
If you are buying a coil cheater, you'll want to use that with cotton wicks. When you use silica, you typically wrap the coil directly on the wick.

My phone has a crap camera in it, so sorry for the quality.

This is a 1ohm coil.

This isn't nearly as much cotton as it looks like, I just fluff it up once I've threaded it through the coil.

I just tuck it down so it sits in the well.

I'm starting to experiment with vertical coils on my kayfun, but I like this for my IGO at the moment. It takes less than a minute to swap wicks if I want to swap flavors, and I mostly use it when I get a juice delivery in the vapemail to try 'em all out and decide what's going into a kayfun and what's steeping.

I have not done the research yet that I need to in order to make a choice.

From what people have suggested I am still thinking Kayfun or Sophia but I really don't know enough about this yet.

I still don't know the differences between a Kayfun 3.1, Kayfun Lite, and a Kayfun Lite Plus. Then would need to try and do a comparison to see if the Kayfun would suit me better than a Sophia. Maybe there is something else I should consider. I also don't know what a Russian or Russian 91% is but they look like Kayfun clones but don't seem to be dirt cheap. I would want quality.

I am a person that generally does not like clutter so I want to try and get something that will be useful for at least several years even though things are changing fast.

We are too much alike when it comes to some things. :)

Well, you are a whole lot prettier so that's a difference :2cool:. All the women I know in real life are tom boys and I am starting to suspect you are one those those too. I have really liked our short messages. We will have to do longer ones sometime.

Do like horses, climbing rocks, getting dusty on the trail?

Hey Amanda, are you completely sold on cotton or do you still do silica?

I've only used cotton until today when I did put silica in the RM2 I use for Boba's Bounty (because I have to change out the cotton every day). I thought it was ok, because BB is so strong, but just now I realized I was missing something....will have to decide! I also use Peaches and Cream sometimes (from Walmart), but I find the taste a little 'thinner' I think than the cotton balls. Not entirely sure on that either!
