I guess I should do it I just hate the idea of being a tweeter! Something about it just dose not set well with me;-) It feels like Im selling out or giving in!

Try it! You might learn to like it. I signed on to do the EU twitterbombs. Now I'm enjoying the challenge (being longwinded as I am) of telling some EU bureaucrats to eff off in 140 words or less... :)

12/20 ETA: Of course I meant 140 characters

Don't know that I'd call it a win so much as momentary luck.

I've seen managers sluff something off where I work and next day 3-4 people, manager included were gone.

However, we have over 500 cameras watching ever last inch of our facility. Sadly they will not spend on the needed day to day equipment to keep it safe.

Buzz, you are extremely lucky to have a tolerent boss.

Being in my late 50's, losing my job has been a nightmare. No one wants to hire you. Years of experience means little. With the economy sucking and unemployment rates as high as they have ever been, you were pretty bold to do what you did. Kudos to your bravery and sticking to your convictions.

I'm with you. I just can't get into the social networking thing. I think it is literally ruining the human ability to interact with people on a personal level. Aside from that, people put waaaaayyyy too much info out there about themselves in a time in which personal privacy should be one of the most important things to us. But hey, if other people want to partake in it, that's their business. But the lurkers and social harvesters, whether they be personal, corporate, or government, sure do love you making their jobs easier.

As for being fired for vaping... This is the world we live in, folks. It's still an employer's market out there, and they can always find a way to shave payroll. Is it bullѕhit? No. Is it stupid? Absolutely. But, what can ya really do about it...?

How did we get to this point where its ok to take a mans lively hood for such a silly reason?

I agree completely but like others have said, their house, their rules. I'm not saying my company condones this policy of our main customer but it's no longer allowed inside the buildings at my company. As for firing the drivers, we were warned several times and as part of our employment contract we signed it states we will abide by customer policies while on their property.

Well done Buzz! I was in a pre demolition meeting in South Ga today when they announced no smoking or e-cigs on this project. Before I wreck a building, I have to take out the Asbestos...... My regulated area just got much bigger. Nobody wants to come into an Asbestos work area!
I am a tech on some demo equipment and go on many sites. I understand the no smoking but with all the dust and dip juice (disgusting) flying around I don't get the issue with vaping

Nice.

My ... would have been grass. My company recently fired an engineer of 20 years for trying to stealth vape under his desk. Zero-tolerance.

Fired him after 20 years just for vaping?! Inexcusable. What a heartless company. Bet the thought of getting out of having to pay him retirement never crossed their minds. Care to share the company? Just like to make sure I never do business with them. :)

Really don't like being lumped in with smokers now that I vape. I don't just vape anywhere, but if you think about all the loss of hours from people grabbing a smoke. Corporate should see this as a win rather than a challenge. A rule is a rule, but to fire somebody on a first offense seems draconian to me.

It's been proven that taking a "smoke break" actually improves productivity. So it's gained hours by taking the time out from time to time.

If you can't go with the flow you get washed out lol sorry was unable to stop my self

Yup thats the attitude these days not enough people with back bone to stand up to the few who make up these sinceless rules and regulations. Your comment IMO is exactly the problem we have even the people pushing the rules say I know its dumb but we have to follow it!

Hopefully you are all involved in the daily tweeting. "fight for your right to vape" threads here and the page on Facebook.

If you don't tweet. create a hotmail or gmail account and use that for ONLY tweeting. If you don't make noise, no one will hear you.

Join CASAA.
re-tweet other people's tweets about it.
be heard.

Just another supporter of this. I actually have a dozen email addresses and twitter accounts specifically for political tweets. They have more appropriate twitter handles/feeds other than my profanity laden main one, and tweeting your representative is easy, especially the daily action plans. Takes me 5 minutes out of every day to see what's going on in my disctrict/ward and tweet away.

The daily action plans take less than 15 seconds to accomplish. Everybody on this forum should be doing the daily action plan, it would make a huge difference.

-B

Edit--- For those that don't want to participate in social networking you don't have to do anything else with that twitter account. Just tweet at people when needed. There's no need to use your twitter to tell the world you have eaten the best cheeseburger ever for lunch today...

This is why we all need to get involved. People are being punished harshly for doing something that improves their health, and doesn't impact the environment. After the NYC ban yesterday, I'm more motivated now to get involved, speak up, contact these idiotic politicians who are trying to ban us.

These companies should be encouraging these men to vape instead of smoke, even from a dollars and cents point of view, it will decrease their impact on the companies healthcare coverage.

That's a great idea. I heard of the NYC ban from a post Greg Gutfield made on Facebook, and was surprised and glad to see the majority of comments were on our side - there were one or two uptight "vaping is dangerous" posts that were quickly shut down, and a couple "it's TACKY" comments, but the overwhelming majority were furious at yet another ban in NYC, and that to most of them, gaping is harmless. A LOT of comments were along the lines of "I've heard they help people stop smoking, I'm all for them".

I felt the same, but I did it anyway..

But I'll be damned if I'm going to start Facebooking.
That is where I draw the line.
