We have a Drug Emporium here and it is with the "natural" products for skin care.

I've changed my mind!

I spent 55 years as a smoker huffing as much smoke (one PAD) as I could. I knew that there were some 4000 chemicals in each puff. I knew that my mother had lung cancer never having smoked a single cigarette in her life. I knew that my sister and her husband both died from emphysema . (I bear guilt for that because I smoked with them in the room). I know all this and yet I still smoked. I was hopelessly addicted! Until a relative turned me on to ecigs. I have been stinky free for a year.
I know what I put into my body over those 55 years and I don’t intend to do it again. I’m a DIYer and the idea of buying PG from a Tractor Supply Company bothers me. The idea of buying VG intended as a skin protestant bothers me. Questioning this grade vs. that grade seems foolish. I don’t think I save THAT much money.
I now value what I put into MY body and the bodies of the people I supply with juice. I buy VG/PG from reputable online labs (read: Wizard Labs) who take steps to supply the highest quality products and whom I trust . To me, it’s just not worth the cost savings to buy locally from Tractor Supplies and Walmart.
Of course, the flavorings I add to my DIY are an unknown factor, but I choose not to use certain chemicals. It’s a crap shoot.
Basically, it’s a matter of risk/reward. I choose not to buy locally. Bottom line, the money saved is not worth the risk taken by possibly endangering myself and others and buying ingredients locally.
We all have to make and be responsible for our own decisions. I have made mine in a thoughtful and not knee-jerk way.

I checked Wizard Labs and the cost for a gallon is approximately $38 ($9.49/ 500ml), PG or VG. I don't think that's very expensive at all. I think the glycerine is cheaper than Walmarts.

Let's not be penny wise and pound foolish. Good Luck in your DIY experiences.

You are confusing marketing labeling with grade, but that's OK as whatever makes you feel better about it is fine with me. You'll notice the label of the TS PG is "Propylene Glycol USP" which matches up pretty well with the Purity thread's wording. The marketing department can put many other things on the label without violating the regulations even "for external use only" if that is the market they wish to target. (For that see any number of USP VG's labels which brings me to the next point.)

Froggy's sells some good stuff, but you note the VG they have is not up to the USP grade. They could be starting with USP and rebottle, but the rebottling site's conditions don't meet the standards, so the label on the smaller bottles cannot have the USP designation.

I will agree that the Purity thread does leave quite a bit of room for confusion. I've been doing this for a little while and I even have a good friend who runs a number of compounding pharmacies and neither of us find the wording of the purity thread clear.

I'm sorry, my mistake.....not good at this typing, spelling, and computer stuff. THE PG AND VG ON AMAZON, SOLD BY FROGGYS FOG, ARE BOTH USP FOOD GRADE.
Pricewise, its close to Wizard, but the PURITY is labeled as higher.
I understand what your saying .......i don't see anything above "FOOD GRADE".
At half the price, and labeled "FOR ANIMAL USE ONLY", i wouldn't want to take the chance on it.

I took a dive into DIY just mere weeks ago. I also purchased from Froggy's Fog via Amazon - half gallon of each, PG& VG. Both labels do state USP, PG 99.9% & VG 99.7%. I'll never know if what was actually put in the bottle is what is stated on the label, but I can say this: all of the DIY juice I've made with Froggy's brand + Capella's has been tastier than any premixed vendor juice I've gotten in the last 6+ months.

I don't regret my purchase from Froggy's Fog. And I got free shipping!

P.S. my nic was from Wizard Labs, happy with that too.

Hi vimilla, i'm glad you said that about Wizard Labs, as my second order of nic is on it's way from them.
I'm also happy with what i got from Froggy's Fog and its also labeled "Made in the USA".

There is a lot of confusion, but I'm going to trust a Lab to sell me the best product available. The best is all I want. If a lab ever lets me down, well, I tried!

Since I am the original OP of this thread (that I never imagined would get to five pages), I felt it only fair to share some information that I discovered since first posting.

Wizardlabs.us may not be an FDA-approved laboratory after all and just a retail godaddy.com website for Vapor Delights in Tamarac, FL:

You decide -

Wizardlabs.us - Wizardlabs

Thanks for sharing, I find that interesting, and not at all surprising. I chose WL for my nic based on price, not because of the word LAB on their "scientific" looking website. Heck, I can call myself Elvira, wear a black wig, and screen horror flicks in my living room, but that doesn't make me "The Mistress of the Dark." (only Americans 35+ will get that reference :p)

I checked out the website you listed above, and don't see any reason to be suspicious of Wizard Labs. I see no indication that they may not be FDA approved, and, as far as Godaddy and a different corporate name, that isn't odd at all.
Looks like they are on the up and up to me. Also, they are not allowed by ECF to comment on a thread like this.

Hi SeaBrz, I hope we didn't steal your thread. I think we are doing the same as you, trying to find the best place, to get the best product.
My Wizard nic came today and i do like how they packaged it, better than my first order of nic. I'll read your link when i can ,but, i did alot of reading on ECF before i bought nic again and thats the reason i decided to try Wizard.
I'm still trying to figure out this "USP/EP(PHARACEUTICAL GRADE) thing". It seems, 99.5% PURITY and above makes it Pharmaceutical Grade.

Publix Supermarkets in Florida sells VG. Well, at least my store does by me. My friend's store by her doesn't. And everytime I get a bottle, they only have like 2 bottles on the shelf. It's like they are afraid someone will buy them all up or something? Or maybe alot of people are buying them? I don't know. My friend did get some at a CVS so maybe some sell them and some don't, but CVS charges more than Publix. Publix is something like $2.49 for 6 oz. The Walgreens by my house has never had it. I'm not sure if others do.

Beat me to it MiamiMom. Publix by my Hacienda sells Humco Glycerine USP 6 oz. for $2.99 vs. Wal_Mart for $3.89. I load up on 3-5 bottles each time I see it in stock. Once the cashier did ask me what I was using it for. I looked her dead in the eye and said "Home Videos". There was the longest pause...lol

Tractor Supply for the PG USP. If it has the USP Cert. then it matter's not what they label it to be used for. It was handled/manufactured to the same supposedly strict USP grade requirements wether it's the "Ideal" brand from TS or Wizard Labs brand etc. One is intended to be sold to treat metritis and mastitis in horses and one is intended to be sold for vaping. Nevertheless, both are the same. exact. stuff.

Maybe, they are " the same exact stuff" or more likely close to the same stuff. No doubt, they come from the same places....Dow, P&G....and you probably hit on one of the differences......how they are handled after they are recieved by the buyer.
'' FOR ANIMAL USE ONLY" means, to me, FOR animal use only. Is it because of the way it is handled?

They still stick it in a plastic jug, a label gets put on it, and it gets shipped to the store. Name brand vs store brand, generics vs valium.

I havent come across the "for animal use only" chemical.

PG USP is PG USP. VG USP is VG USP. Oranges = Oranges?

We have free will to buy our stuff from any places we wish (that carries them). Its called freedom.

I am happy I can buy PG and VG locally. In a pinch and if Nic becomes scarse I can stock up on the basic matierals locally. If you wish to order out go ahead. Its all up to you.

Last Edit :)

I Love the companies like Wiz Labs that carries Nic/flavors/VG and PG for amazing prices. I will continue to support my "friends in business". I also support my local peeps. We vote with our dollars.

For Me personally its Nic and flavors from The Wizard, and vg/pg locally, glass bottles on ebay and tequila from the bottle shop

I wish our Publix did. The one 1/2 mile from my house doesn't have it. I usually get VG at either Wal Mart or the health food store.

No, it just means that's what they are selling it for. It's the same if it's USP. PG & VG that's USP is sold under many diff. labels with the intent for it to be used for many different things. I can sell banana's and label one batch to be eaten, and one batch to be stuck in your ear etc. It's still the same. It's banana's.

If it's USP, no matter what it's intended use is when labeled and sold - It's still USP grade. Still the same thing. I know because, I talked to a Representative at Ideal (That's the brand that's sold at TS). I also called HUMCO and asked them if their USP Glycerine is USP Vegetable Glycerine to which they replied yes, that it was. USP grade is... USP.

I have the ph #'s around here somewhere and I can dig them up for you if you would like.

ETA: No matter who sells it, how it's "handled" or better yet "packaged" is all part of the USP grade.

I don't think anyone is going to sway someone who is emotionally invested in the marketing aspects of the label over by the logic of the USP standard. The two decision processes are too far apart. It will not matter to that person that the USP standard covers the product, testing, the product handling, and the packaging of the product.

Even if we were to pick apart the marketing phrase and point out the label does not say, "Not for human consumption" or even point out that a human being is an animal, it will not sway someone who is emotionally invested in a marketing phrase because it is a logical arguement.

As long as we can point out the logic to lurkers and the poster is not harming themselves, I believe we have done all that can be done.

I couldn't agree with you more, Hoosier. As a person who has made poor decisions in the past, like smoking, I've made my decision with my wallet. I bought PG, VG and nicotine from Wizard labs this morning. No locally bought products for me. The price difference just isn't worth it.

There are many reasons why each of us buys what we buy. WL has a good rep and I'm sure you will be very happy with your order once it arrives.

The question is, do you feel you are somehow connected to criminals by having a jug of VG? Nah, me neither....
