Can an e-cig be intrinsically safe?

I work at a plant where we have stocks of Butadiene (i think the flash point is like -85 degree C) and nButyllithium which inflames in air lol

We arn't allowed anything that isn't instrinsically safe outside of a certain area, is there anyway an ecig could be with the atty getting hot?

Not unless the atty is removed of it's heating element and replaced with something like a ultrasonic vaporizer....but that would make for a large e-cig and a very, poor experience since the vapor would be cool.

Better off putting the e-liquid in a spray bottle(Binaca type) and misting it when you want it.

I was thinking about this too.... there is a factory in town that I used to work at that manufactures and cans spray paint, perfumes, starting fluid, basically anything aerosol. They have a complete smoking ban on the premises sue to combustion risks.

I think the e-cig would NOT be safe for use on the site as there is heat generated from the coil. Were I in management I would still ban it on the site, Just sayin'.

I know there is only a microscopic risk of ignition due to a heated coil but also realize that the company has to comply with specific regulation for insurance requirements. If you pose even a mild threat to their safety compliance... I can see it being grounds for termination.

We have two smoking areas on site which are far enough away from the monomer storage, but if a reactor is venting an alarm will sound and you can't smoke or start an engine etc.

I use it in the smoke shelter anyway, was just checking

My company has installations in some volatile plants. We actually build explosion proof machinery for certain applications.

Whenever I visit these plants for service work, I make it a rule of thumb to follow the companies smoking rules.

Better to be safe, than blown to tiny bits.
