yea... all signs point to no in my opinion. But i am not a doctor.
off topic kinda, but I'll mention it anyways, they have been working on a cure for cancer that, while still in extremely experimental stages, has been effective in forcing the cancer in to remission most of the time.
so maybe by the time you get cancer from some reason not related to vaping, theyll have a cure

There are a number of POTENTIAL carcinogens that MAY be present in SOME ecigs.

The vast majority of them come from flavorings, or a combination of some flavorings with some metals in the ecig. Then there is also the POSSIBILITY of toxic vapors from the metal itself as it's being heated.

A few examples....

1. Diketones are potentially carcinogenic, as well as having other toxic effects from inhalation. Diketones are used as flavor enhancers, especially in butter flavorings often used in custard flavors.
2. Flavorings containing citric acids can react with some metals causing the metals to leach into the eliquids. For example, citric acid reacts with nickel, causing the nickel to leach into the eliquids, and inhalation of nickel can be toxic.
3. The oxidation from some metals used to make coils is toxic if inhaled. Stainless Steel mesh wicks can release chromium, titanium wire can release titanium dioxide which is carcinogenic. When nickel is heated over 650F it produces toxic fumes.

And those are just a couple of examples, there are a lot more.

However, these are only POTENTIAL problems, many of which can be avoided altogether. In cases where they cannot be avoided the levels are still far lower than the levels found in smoking tobacco.

You left out the part that titanium dioxide doesn't form/leach unless the titanium is heated well in excess of vaping temperatures, say 600 to 800 degrees Celsius.

Do you have a reference for this? Thanks

Off the top of my head, no. Let me get home and have a bit to look for it and I'll find it though. If you want to look for it yourself the information came from jewelry makers and the fumes released while soldering nickel plated pieces of jewelry together.

It should be noted that tobacco also contains nickel, one of the many carcinogens in tobacco.

One of the ingredients in my asthma inhaler is PG. So I look at it as not a whole lot different. We consume and use tons of products with PG, VG, and flavoring in them. In my humble opinion, if you're purchasing your liquid from a reputable company and they say they are using USP grade PG and VG, it's quality ingredients and not really much different from my inhaling PG in my asthma inhaler I got at the pharmacy.

All I know is this, I use my e-cig daily and I do not feel nasty like I did when smoking cigarettes. I am still able to run (1 marathon, 8 half marathons, and several 12/10/5k's) all since ditching smoking many years ago. So far it hasn't hindered my active lifestyle unlike cigarettes. Oh and I don't smell like a dirty ashtray using my e cig either! :)

You'll probably get a lot of conflicting responses. The correct one is, "We don't know yet."

But in all likelihood, something much more common and mundane (like methane or tap water) will cause cancer. It's pretty safe to say that you're far more likely to get cancer smoking cigarettes than vaping -- but the causes of your cancer (even if you're a heavy smoker) can be completely unrelated to your smoking.

Spooky, huh? Just vape on. If it's keeping you off cigarettes it's doing its job. If it's between vaping and not vaping, however, not vaping is obviously the safer of the two. I can't tolerate this "vaping is as safe as breathing air" crap.
you clearly do not live in a major city. when I lived in southern california there were many days when you could see the air you breathed and heavy exertion would make your lungs hurt. vaping is clearly safer than breathing that air

in california everything causes cancer including milk and sand. just read the warning signs the state requires on almost every business

It all came about because of the Lawsuits from people Claiming to have developed Cancer from Drinking Milk or Walking on the Beach.

actually it was the result of the way the state test materials to determine if they cause cancer.funny thing is that they were unable to show that cigarette smoked causes cancer using the same test.the rats suffocated before they reached a high enough concentration to cause an increased cancer rate.but if you force feed a highly inbreed rat enough of anything it is not going to have pleasant results

Even though this is a serious subject, this is one of the funnier threads I have read so far lol :) I have been laughing my A** off at some of the posts.

Putting all of the humor aside though, and as some of you may know, I just lost my mother to lung cancer that was directly caused from smoking......... I may be wrong, but from what I gathered from her ordeal, there are various types of lung cancers that can be identified by pathologists. I believe they can tell from the type of lung cancer if it is caused from smoking or from something else, like asbestos. Anyway, I was informed that her cancer was 100% due to smoking for 50 years. Of course, many folks will say that would be just a common sense conclusion due to the fact that she smoked for so many years. But, that would not be entirely true either because there are many other causes for lung cancer. Yes, smoking is the one of the larger factors due to the numbers of people that smoke in the world, but in this industrial age we are exposed to many, many, things that humans were not exposed to in past centuries. Our bodies are constantly being bombarded by chemicals, toxins, and radiations that never existed years ago.

Yep. Atlanta is one of the greenest cities in the country, and in the summer, when it's very hot and humid (normal), we have *ozone warnings* -- not supposed to pump gas when those are in effect. What you're supposed to do if you're nearly out of gas, I have no idea; some of these warnings don't seem terribly acquainted with reality.

There are a GREAT many things in "regular air" that are far less safe to breathe than e-cig vapor.

The argument is dumb because breathing the air is an unavoidable risk, vaping on the other hand is an avoidable risk.

You can't avoid going outside and breathing city air, you can avoid picking up a vape. Comparing the two is like comparing the potential risk from dying in a bungie jumping accident (avoidable risk) versus getting a brain aneurysm (unavoidable).
