Can we come to a conclusion on a name?

I've tried to quit before with the nicatrol inhaler and think of vaping as an electronic version, so why not the e-inhaler, or electronic inhaler?
Right after it was more or less settled that the best names to go by were names with vapor (or vapour for UK I suppose) - so to vapourize, vaping, vapourizer or personal vapourizer - I put these terms into the daily google searches (in both spelling-ways).
I also put in the same terms but with e- in front of them.
A marked difference has shown itself since then. Every day I get a number of links sent about vapour, vapourizing, vaping etc. And up till now almost all are all about substances we don't even want to see discussed on these boards (and the lone exceptions are about people vaping herbs that happen to be less dilusional or exciting).
The same terms with an e- in front of them brought in... no links. So that territory is 'not taken' it seems.
Now it has only been a number of days since then; maybe I should let it go on for weeks before reporting this here... but frankly, I think the results are a bit too alarming to do that.
I think using the 'vapor'-terms without e- in front of it are really opening us up to hazards of another kind then using 'smoking' and 'cigarettes' - but hazards nonetheless. PLUS that people that are 'vaping' in the other sense, are bound to find us quite soon; and might well want to use these boards for their own interests.
So I would really like to suggest, to put that e- in front of every vapor word we want to start using... That seems 'safe territory' and more importantly 'new territory' - territory we can really make ours.
Either that, or think up new words for what we are doing... (to me, vaping describes it well... and e-vaping even better; so I find using e-vaping, e-vaporizer, etc. quite easy - but that might be different for others of course).
We really don't want to be found under 'vaping' in search-engines quite soon though, I would think... Please share some more thoughts on this?

Way back about last January, Smokey Joe posted about our name. Vaping was immediately rejected because of its drug connotations.
Vaporizer and Vaping work best in my opinion. However, I still think it can be better but WHAT?
I think we should take a tip from Janty and call it a Fogger or a Nicotine Fogger. I know in a loud room, people could mistake "fogger" for a lot of different words, but at the same time, that's what it does, creates fog like a fog machine.
Alternatives are personal fogger, personal nicotine fogger, personal fog machine, etc. Something with fog, go fog yourself.

I think they might like the idea, they would have a leg up on the competition.
I went with "other". I, personally, like fogging as a verb - it is so similar to one of my favorite words (fog the censors). As for the noun, I like fogger, but wouldn't want to steal Janty's word, but I like Kate's "old foggies" too.
And to borrow an idea from Sheakespeare; would that which we call an e-cig not smell as sweet by any other name?
When I tell people about it, I call it an electronic cigarette because it is simple, but I take it apart and explain the function of each part before demonstrating it and letting them smell the vapor. The response is usually quite positive
. I did have one recent quitter tell me they resented my fogging in a 12 step meeting because they really wanted to smoke and can't do that at a meeting. I offered to share mine, but they wouldn't even try it. I also offer to share my vapor quite frequently. I figure I would have shared my cigarette with these people if they asked, and what the heck, maybe I will create another foggin' fool like me.

Nicotine Nebulizer. Makes it sound more like a medical device and less like a hobby. I work in healthcare and people seem to be more receptive to this name. They think of it more like an asthma inhaler, and you wouldn't tell someone their inhaler is banned......right??

After I posted it I realised that I had absolutely no idea of how offensive it might be for some, in the UK it just isn't derogatory in that way. I hope nobody took offence, it was meant in a light hearted, queer sort of way

So far I think these are good words:
dew, fogging, old foggies
, inhaler, smaze, smazing (but not smazer)
Nebulizer without the nicotine then (it's for non-nicotine group too...); does sound good to me... fogger and fogging does too, maybe even a bit better (to me); though I don't quite know how Janty would feel about it of course
I haven't voted yet but perhaps the name should be based on what the item is - an inhaler, after all that's what we are doing, inhaling atomised liquid.
Grumpy, that's in fact what I use when telling people about my device; but since I am using nicotine it's a "nicotine inhaler". Of course, my SD doesn't look anything like a cigarette, so that helps, and is one of the reasons I love it.

I really like that, fog fags are for fags to fog and old foggers, lol.
Lets get the ideas on here and when we've got a few more someone can set up another poll with them as options. We can then select the ones we find acceptable and see if there's any kind of consensus or agreement.

That might work on your side of the pond, but not ours. I can think of one bay area(CA) city where that would be a marketing nightmare
I've gone with electronic cigarette as this is what I say to my friends and people who are curious as it sounds cooler and is a simple way to explain it. Also mine always have nicotine in them and this name kind of implies this.
When I speak to staff who are (hopefully) going to let me e-smoke in their pub/restaurant etc. I call it a nicotine inhaler as I think that this sounds more legal and less scary for them and I am more likely to get a favourable response (always have so far).
