Bump up the wattage. Remember this is only going to be the initial wattage to get the coil up to the selected temp. As soon as it gets to the right temp the wattage will then be auto-adjusted to maintain that temp. Try 25-30 watts.

So I upped the wattage to 25W and dropped the temp to 400F. mod is almost instantly going into temp protection. Smooth, steady vape.
Might play with temp settings a little, just to find the proverbial "sweet spot".

Sounds like you are are just about there. Once you find that sweet spot though, you won't really ever need to mess with settings again.

:) that's it, set all your parameters and let the chip do the work for ya (TEMP PROTECTION)

coil build/watts/temp/air flow

don't forget that the AIR FLOW across the coil (as you draw on it) plays a BIG factor to when your temp regulates<>
as you play with it/make adjustments - try and maintain the same DRAW :w00t:

OK, I believe I am there. The KFL V2+ (maybe three years old ...?) doesn't have much of an air flow control, just a set screw in the base that governs the air port into the tank. I just back it all the way out.
Chugging along at 0.75W, 25W and 400F. Really liking a nice, cool steady vape....

And just like that, DING DING DING, we have a winner! Now that you found it, you will start to wonder why you didn't switch to TC sooner.

I took out my old Pico from the draw and tested it in TC (something i've never done. Stupid me).
Works like a charm. I even sucked the tank empty on purpose. Good feeling when it starts cutting back on power, its like telling you...now is the right time to refill :smokie:

I went uptown, put my Pico in the cupholder while I was running errands.
By the time I get home, the + and - buttons on the bottom had jammed.
If a few hours in am F-150 are problematic, 12+ hours in a Freightliner would be fatal.
My REOS Grands will remain my at work mods, but having something smooth to come home to (other than Mamaw and her cooking) would be nice.

Was it left in the vehicle in extreme cold temps? Having never used a Pico I have no idea as to their durability but I am sure there are plenty of TC mods out there that can handle more abuse than the Pico's.

Considering what you paid for the Pico vs the Reo it's not really a fair comparison.

Around freezing, give or take.

If the issue is cold related it should go away once it warms back up so it may not really be "fatal". It may just be that the internal parts of the button contracted at different rates due to the temp, making the fit tighter.

@PapawBrett
You thinking of getting another TC mod, cause I can't contain my curiousty as to which one you'll go for?
That will make for a very interesting new thread for sure...:p

eLeaf Invoke, and two new tanks, already ordered. And this thread is for explaining TC to an old fart, like me. Staying here, for now.

Cool i'll stay right here with you. Learnt a lot so far.
I googled Invoke and it seems its got about as much power as the Freightliner. You do sub ohm as well?

Nah. Mech Mods, with 1.4 ohm single coils for about 11 Watts is where I've been for years.
Kinda big leap into TC, so I started this discussion to get advice from those who've been there.
Nothing beats the voice of experience ;)
