I've tried ecigs in the past everything from Blu ecigs to mods and nothing seems to work for me. I bought a eleaf ipower 80w mod with a nautilus mini 24mg e juice cause I smoke full flavor cigarettes. I could vape on that thing for 20 minutes straight and not feel the same satisfaction as I would smoking, but as soon as I light up a stinky it satisfies my within seconds. Could it be that maybe I'm actually addicted to the other chemicals in cigarettes and not just the nicotine?

If you really really want to make the switch and just can't do it, maybe you need to try WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids).

It is more expensive than normal e-liquid but from all I have read about it a small amount of the unflavored can be mixed with your normal e-liquid so a little goes a long way.

YES. Once your body detoxes from all that crap you should be good to go. Maybe you'll need to duel use for a while before quitting. I smoked (not nearly as many) and vaped for months before giving up the cigarettes.

That could be.

But remember that the nic "buzz" you get from a cigarette is actually from Carbon monoxide pushing Oxygen from your lungs and entering the bloodstream.

For some odd reason, our limbic system likes that.

I'll agree, it's not just the nicotine. It takes some people longer to make the switch, while some are able to put the smokes down and pick the vape up seamlessly. It took my husband 10ish months of duel using before finally making a complete switch. WTA might be something to try out, I was about ready to try it for my husband before he finally gave up the smokes. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, just keep vaping and any smoking that is replaced is a win.

Sounds like one of a few things is going on.

1. You may need a WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloid) juice.

2. You havent dialed in the power level you need.

3. Nautilus uses a 1.8 ohm coil. You may need a lower resistance coil to properly vaporize the nicotine.

4. It could be the throat hit is different.

5. It may be in your mind

I Firmly Believe that I was just as Addicted to the Added Chemicals they put in Cigarette Tobacco as I was to Nicotine. Isn't that why they Add all those Chemicals?

Some people take 2 Hits of an e-Cigarette and Never Smoke Again. And some people need to Ramp Down on Cigarettes while Ramping Up on e-Cigarettes over a period of time.

I was in the 2nd Category. Using an e-Cigarette really Helped, but it Wasn't Smoking. The Only things that is Smoking is Smoking.

Hang In there. You can Make It. And Remember, that you have to Want to Quit more than you Want to Smoke.

I have had 2 experiences with stopping smoking and starting vaping. The first time I immediately quit smoking and went through horrible withdrawal. I was angry, irritable, and had insomnia. I woke up terrible one morning and smoked a cigarette, calmed me right down but then didn't smoke for years until I did :( After a couple of years of smoking I have finally gotten back on track, but this time I stepped the smokes down gradual. It actually went fairly quick in less than 2 weeks, was a much better experience. Be determined and don't stop looking for the experience that finally tells your brain that this can work. Buy a different set up, try WTAs. Unfortunately, it's not a one size fits all but there is something for everyone.

No truer words than that. I've known many in real life & online that can take 2 vapes & never smoke again. Many need the WTA or duel use for a while. Keep plugging away at it.

Zoidman hit it on the head - you have to want to quit MORE than you want to smoke. I conditioned myself for months (it wasn't hard!) to start hating cigarettes before I ever picked up my first eGo. The smell, THAT COUGH, the burn holes in the upholstery of damn near everything I owned, and, the final straw, handing over a five dollar bill for a pack of Newports and getting a penny in change!

I smoked for 31 years, RBrook. I've been vaping for six. I saved so much money, I was able to replace all the burned furniture and get the stench out of the house. I smell better - people don't wrinkle their noses when I get on a crowded elevator anymore.

Being adverse to DIY e-juice, my e-juice costs me around $50-60 a month. Compare THAT to the seven dollars a day I'd be spending on cigarettes. I spend a quarter of what I would have spent on smokes! Building my own single coil tanks keeps it even cheaper.

The stairs to the subway trains (monster stairs...) don't wind me anymore. My doctor says my lungs have done a complete 180 - vastly improved over what they were back in 2011. And the best part? Because of the flavors in e-juice, I lost 38 pounds WHILE I quit smoking!

In short, I got everything I hoped to gain by giving up cigarettes and switching, completely, to the vape.
Your freedom is out there, too - you just have to really want it. Cigarettes SUCK, RBrook - ditch them, go to a higher nic level (I started out on 24 mg nic on a 2.4 ohm coil but that was a while back) and put some steel in your backbone, your heart and your mind. You can do this.

I used both for a very long time. I eventually got to two every morning and one day realized I couldn't remember the last cigarette.

I wish I could remember who on here said (wish I had thought of it) that one should count the cigarettes not smoked in a day rather than the number smoked. I liked the concept, a positive though incremental reduction.

ALSO, while I'm thinking of it, I personally was expecting too much of vaping in general right off the bat. I was expecting after one vape the colors would be brighter & the birds would sing louder. When I had the heebie jeebies for a smoke after my first time vaping, I remember thinking "this vaping stuff don't work". I promise there'll be a point in the evening when you'll catch yourself thinking "I didn't smoke today". Might be tomorrow, might be next year.

Then there's some people who just don't want to quit smoking.
When I started vaping, I had no intention to quit smoking. I didn't even want to quit. I DID want to cut back.
I dual used for about a month and ran out of cigarettes one day. I still haven't gotten around to picking up another pack. It's been around 6 years or so....but, just like I tell my wife.... I'll get around to it eventually.

Keep vaping. But if you feel you gotta have a cigarette, have one. Chances are you'll smoke less than you did. If so, that's a win. Then keep it up. Vape as much as you want, smoke as little as possible, but don't beat yourself up for it. Chances are, you'll smoke less and less as time goes on.

Since it hasn't been mentioned.......

Just my own opinion, but just as, if not more important then what gear you get is the juice. Find that flavor you wouldn't trade for the smoke and it goes a lot easier. Nothing better then that great taste followed by that wafting aroma upon exhale. But that's just me. :vapor: :vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

I used WTA to help me stop smoking. WTA juice isn't cheap but I found I needed very little of it to change my smoking habits DRASTICALLY. I'm kind of generally phasing it out, but if I feel that cravings and whatnot get worse, I will buy more until I do NOT need it. To me, this tradeoff was worth passing up the feeling from about 3 p.m. until "bedtime" like ants were crawling under my skin. I put a separate tank together that's mostly regular juice and a little WTA and use it if I need it... Which tends to be less and less. When I started, I'd put a small squirt of the DIY aroma juice (I can only use VG) into my tank when refilling. Smaller and smaller squirts as I went.

Aroma's juice is excellent quality, IMO. The unflavored has a faint taste of tobacco, which goes away once I mix it into my regular juice. I was really motivated to quit this time, and I also dual used some, but I KEPT vaping, no matter what, and eventually that day came. If you are supremely frustrated I'd suggest Nic Salts (same kind of nicotine found in tobacco) or WTA as a next step, as well as remembering quitting is a PROCESS. If you don't stop the process by giving up, or thinking you can't do it, the process will continue and you will find that you have quit. Just keep working on trying to reduce cigs for now and celebrate every victory! I bought knitting supplies when I had my first cigarette free day, and a guitar and some (free, heh) guitar lessons from my little brother via skype when my singing voice returned. Both items were under the cost of 2 weeks of cigarette usage for me... I practice every day, and knit in meetings and other places where I cannot vape.

Also, exercise improvements were a great motivator for me.

Best of luck, and seriously try some other things. It may be well worth it in the short term if you can give up smoking. If you can't, continuing to vape will increase your chances of quitting in the future, as well as hopefully letting you slooowllly reduce your cigarettes.

Don't put pressure on yourself to stop smoking. I used the 'one less cigarette per day' approach and dual used for a couple of weeks. At that point i remained a vaper only and became an ex-smoker.
A few of my work colleagues dual use. They smoke at work (outside in the smoking area) and vape at home, that way they keep their homes smelling fresh ! I don't judge them for their continued use of tobacco, they are smoking a lot less than before.
If you havn't made the (hard) choice to stop smoking then dual use may be what you have to accept for the time being.
Experiment with different hardware and liquid and maybe, one day, you may find the cigarette addiction becomes manageable and you blossom into a full time vaping god..... :)
