How can you clean the coil when this happens?

It's difficult to remove the carbonization but if you are willing to do so, you can carefully pick off the buildup using a safety pin, rinsing it now and then.

But it gets to a point where it becomes useless, and it's time to replace the carto.

You are probably better off using Atties for the darker juices.

Put a "cleaned" one (without the plastic tube...just the innards) on a manual battery, and dry burn it. ie: fire the battery in 4-5 second bursts until the coil is clean. Works like a charm.

I will try that. I got about 10 fills on one and the flavor is getting weak. Thanks

Not sure how many days 10 refills is for you? But for me that's about a week. If I can get a week out of a $2 carto I feel I got my moneys worth.

And then if you clean/dry burn it and get another week out of it, well, then there dirt cheap.

I adore my clearos and hate and curse them at the same time. Cracking isn't too much of an issue now that I've learned to rinse them out without taking the tube off, but I have constant OVER wicking, even if it's only 1/4 filled. I'm tired of losing so much juice from it wicking into the center. I do the same thing with the cup... only press it down slightly past the top of the ceramic.

I agree, its the only way to make it like new again. Dry burns are a must, after cleaning like you said.

I've used ce2's and now clearos for over a year and half. They are not for everyone. There is a small routine that I perform on every new one out of the box. I use the clearo x from gotvapes. I only use the reg size.

I pull all plugs. Sometimes it is easier to remove the middle plug after filling with juice so it is lubricated. You can cut the slits bigger, or like I do lift the wicks slightly and then just put the plug back on halfway or so. I leave a gap between the bottom of the slit of the plug and wick. It doesn't seem to leak much but this allows airflow for wicking. I leave just the fill ring in nothing else. Leaving the little fill holes open lets air get into the tank for wicking. That's all I do and I can't get good performance otherwise. also vaping with the carto pointed down slightly ensures juice is around the coil and solves any dry hit problems you may have.

I clean once or twice a week with a dry burn. Doing that I get very good value out of them. They last me longer than any atty or carto I've used. Just pull the tube, rinse under water, dab wick with paper towel, dry burn until white, I don't clean or blow the soot off, put tube back on, and now it's back to vaping. Once you get them working it isn't hard to get the same great performace every time. You have to be willing to play with em a little.

I bought one of these... They are good but they go thru the liquid too fast.
Single Dual Coil Cartos

That's why I don't like LR Boge cartos, they go through juice like crazy and need to be topped off so often you may as well be dripping. The XL ce2's seem to last forever, as do the ce2 tank mods. The regular sized ce2... not so much. Seems to die out relatively quickly, but still lasts longer than a standard carto or cart/atty combo.
