Thanks for the info, Fozzy. Appreciate it :) I will do that and avoid entry into the emporium of feminine things (which I usually avoid these days, although man, you can figure out how to do anything beguiling there....) Hmm. Maybe I'll ask my mom for a waxing set for Christmas... :)

If there's a better place than Sally's let me know

make sure you get the right sku# that is 100% rayon and the size/length you want. 40' box is sku# 44130 and 500' is 44060.

This is what's left after giving about 50 ft away and what I used in 3 yrs all that for $13.00
Originally I bought the big box from Sally's when I first started using rayon. The darn thing was always getting in my way, wound up giving it away to my B&M guy. Bought the 40' box, Graham CelluCotton 44130 from eBay almost 2 years ago. Still looks full.

The small box winds up costing almost the same as the big box, but unless you have the storage space it is easier to live with. At least for me it was.

I'm not headed back to cotton either, but I do need to buy rayon. So Sally's beauty supply is a good place? (I had a generous member send me some rayon, but it seems I will be using it for a while.)

If there's a better place than Sally's let me know, as I would have a hard time walking in there without buying a leg waxing kit, I've been wanting one FOREVER ever since my hairdresser told me to go. HATE shaving, with a dire passion.... So it might be cheaper to buy it more expensively somewhere else, or at least spend less of my willpower.... Back when I was dying my hair I was in there all the time, but I'm officially an old lady letting my platinum grey hair grow in pridefully.... A lot of folk believe I'm still dying it but no, I am just enjoying the heck out of my "grey" and I can't wait until it all switches.

So, I guess I'm open to direction here as far as rayon? If Sally's is fine, I will just Go. There. :)

Hi Anna - I didn't want to get the huge pkg, so I got this 40' one for $8.39, free shipping.

Decided to give rayon another chance. Ordered 40' box. I'm not happy with any of you right now.
    :D

When you get ready to play with it check out this thread:
Rayon Wick - Better Flow, Flavor, Longevity, and Nic Hit!! - Pt.2

Don't let the 7,000 posts scare you, all the information you need to get started is in the first half dozen or so posts. Just post any questions you have and they will be answered by some very knowledgeable and friendly people in there. Not me, neither of those adjectives describes me. ;)

Hey, I did a quick glance at the rayon thread (ha! see what I did there?).
Didn't see the answer yet to: If rayon shrinks, and you try to get it so tight in the coil because of it, why trim the tails? Using a KM3 with 100% VG, should I try without trimming tails first, to see if flooding becomes an issue? I've never really had any issue at all with KM3 and cotton. A tiny bit of juice between atty & mod every few days, and that's it.

I ordered it for Nanos and maybe Zeus. Will not even try it in rda. I have used it a few times, but that was awhile back. Didn't dislike it, just preferred KGD. I really dislike changing wick.
I don't so much dislike changing wick...I just wish it always needed changing at convenient times. If a wicking material comes out that only needs to be changed Saturday mornings after coffee & the sports section, I'm buying!

Rayon doesn't shrink. It settles upon itself once juiced in the coil. You have to make it super tight in the coil when dry but once its juiced it loosens up...settles. When making larger diameter coils you end up with large thick tails that with rayon those thick tails hinder the juice flow and in most cases way too much wick for the well or channel. You have to thin them by brushing something pointy through the fibers removing some of the bulk fluff. You can forget everything about cotton cause rayon is almost exactly opposite to all the properties of cotton in a coil.
The best property of rayon is the juice flows outside the fiber so it doesn't expand like cotton so your coil cocoons long before the rayon craps out unlike cotton that juice flows inside the fiber thus expanding then plugging up fiber by fiber until no more fibers left to move juice...dryhitting begins.

Let me know how it works for you in your tanks, especially is you try it in the Zeus. I'm considering checking it out to use in RTAs but I still have a couple of hundred cotton squares and so it's not a need thing. If it works better than cotton in RTAs though then it most certainly becomes a need :)

I think it does, by a major amount. I couldn't get my wicking going right at all, until I tried rayon. I JUST killed a rayon wick in my Siren V2, (onwards of a week, I think, just now starting to taste a bit grungy) but I did not have a leak the ENTIRE time, not refilling, not carrying it around, not carrying it around in my purse, etc. My Berserker tank appears to be behaving similarly, but the wick hasn't gotten gross yet.

Rayon gets my vote every time! :)

Thanks, Alter - I know the fibers themselves don't shrink, but taking up less space is, in simple terms, shrinking. So my thought was, for a Kayfun Mini 3, with a restricted size juice well/cavity, why would you really need to thin it? I mean, if I've been putting an amount of cotton in them, and it expands (fibers become further apart, taking up more space), it seems when juiced, the rayon would take up less space in those wells, and potentially have a negative affect on juice flow/flooding.

Anyway, I always see the recommendation to thin the tails, but no one mentions atty type or coil size. And it kind of seems counterintuitive when you hear "it takes up less space, so use even less in this area." Anyway, I should get it today, and find out for myself. I'm sure I'll thin it out, according to yours/everyone's recommendations. It'll probably make more sense to me when I use it and see it juiced.:)
