Ah. I don't have my Chalice with me at the moment, but it looks as though the 3 top air channels actually route to a single internal air hole on the side of the cap, which would indicate that the air comes to the coil from a single source on the side of the chamber.

This is how I'm understanding it...

Air flows into from the side airholes

Which goes to the underside of the ring

This is the underside of the AFC ring

The airflow from these 3 holes then enters the main barrel section through 3 aligned holes and converge within the main barrel

and gets routed to a single airhole INSIDE the barrel, and hits the coil

I didn't want to mention the details behind it before actually receiving them but I winded up getting 2 chalices on sale day. about 1/2 hour before release I decided to try calling the vendors to see if I could buy one over the phone, electrinicstix and vapeart just told me no but I also called vapexcape and someone there took my number and said someone would call me back... 10 minutes later I got a call back and I said I want to buy a chalice and I was told that they only have one left so I asked if I could buy it. they sent me an invoice and I paypal'd for it. by the actual release time I had already paid for this one and then started hitting vapeart and got my second one. I really wanted 3 of them to match the 3 chalice II's I have but in all the hustle and with electricstix late release time I was only able to get these 2 but I was a little Leary of the vapexcape transaction and had cc address issue with vapeart so in the end I wasn't really sure weather I would wind up with one, two or maybe even none, thankfully yesterday I received both.

I really want one more and will jump on the next chance I have to get another. this is without a doubt the best single coil atty ever made and it's very close to being absolutely perfect. chamber size and coil posts and position are pretty much ideal, I love screw on fixed caps that can't pop off or move at all with in and out of pocket action, and the size is about as compact as can be given the features it has. if I had to really try hard to think of anything I'd change here it would only be the wish for slightly more airflow at wide open, not so much because it needs more airflow, but more because to me ideal would be having the ability to go above where I'd need it to be and then be able to turn it down to exactly where I'd want it to be, then from that perfect airflow point I'd still be able to go either up or down from there. as the airflow is now I will wind up always leaving it at wide open because there it is just enough for me.

again the airflow at max is about equal to between a 1.4-1.5mm inlet on a conventional cap so it really isn't a cloud chaser but flavor wise this is truly about as good as it gets and I've had plenty of different atties and played with many different configurations including a custom made adjustable chamber size atty that can really show how it is very possible to have a chamber that is too small. many think that the smaller the better but this is really only true up to a certain point, an adjustable chamber size atty may be the only way to really see how these small changes can make a big difference in flavor and man the chalice is right there with spot on perfection. the only atties I've ever had that really vape about as well as the chalice is the rm2 and the divo and the nupin, these are spectacular vapes as well but the rm2 is made from garbage and is based on a $10 chrome plated brass junk atty, the divo and the nuppin' are honestly the only attys that come close to being as perfect as the chalice vape wise, the divo in not adjustable airflow though and comes with a pretty tiny hole, of course the chalice blows it away with it's screw on cap and now adjustable airflow too and the fit and finish is second to none... if anyone wants to know how a chalice vapes the divo, rm2 and the nuppin' is probably as close as your going to get flavor wise.

there are many other small chamber atties that are also good but here I'm not just talking about good, I'm talking about the best of the best when it comes to flavor, at least in my opinion and from my experiences. the chalice is king, followed by the nupin which is the only other with adjustable airflow, the divo is discontinued I think and the rm2, although honestly a spectacular vape with a 1.5mm airhole, the whole chrome plated brass just makes it not even fit into this class of atty in the first place even though it honestly vapes awesome and is the only other screw on fixed position cap out of the bunch. so in the end it's chalice, then nupin, then everything else :D

Ah. I don't have my Chalice with me at the moment, but it looks as though the 3 top air channels actually route to a single internal air hole on the side of the cap, which would indicate that the air comes to the coil from a single source on the side of the chamber.

The airflows to the base, then gets drawn through the center coil up the center hole

This is awesome. Immediate tear down and detail scrutiny by experts with thumbs up. Speaks louder than anything that MB can say.

Heat transfer to drip tip is the weakest link in small chamber design. Any feedback on this?
Also, any feedback on possible juice build up on the air channel over long period of usage? I tend to over squank and can see myself getting juice stuck in the chamber easy.
Great job guys. Thanks for the detail info.

Just set up my chalice. 6 wrap 28 ga around 2mm mandrel. 0.9 ohm.

Wow. Holy. Crap. The flavor is sweeeeeet.

Only thing is I need to get used to how much less I needa Squonk since I'm moving back from 22mm atties to a minuscule atty, and I gotta Squonk more frequently.

Also, ALWAYS check your resistance with the main barrel on!!!

This is my first build that came out to 1 ohm

Put on the main barrel on, checked resistance, BAM. It was a short. My coil was touching the sides or the top. Had to shift it inwards

Vapor production is actually decent

In terms of vertical placement, I rest my drill bit on the lip of the deck
f5bbc08be9c24972e5ae160be8660e79.jpg

Then I use a flat head screw driver to push it up, such that the bottom most part of the coil is just lined up with the top of the lip

Merry Christmas.....CIII arrived today. Still fiddling a bit with coil placement for that OMG flavor but I really like the adjustable air flow. I am not crazy about the slight gurgle and I have to get used to a softer squonk with this tiny chamber.

To echo the others this is a high quality atty. Great job Mark!!!

Haven't experienced any heat in the dt - running a .75 ohm microcoil. It's a very smooth vape.

I have, however, had juice gurgle in the airflow. Not much, and I suspect it might have been a wick tail too close to the inlet hole in the chamber. I also had some juice travel up to the dt which was caused by a wick tail contacting the cap. I shortened the tails when I rewicked and haven't seen either issue since (admittedly, that means in, like, 3 hours).

Can you guess where my L was facing...lol

thank you

Hehe yup!

As a general positioning reference,

1) the "C" is a good approximation of the position of the internal airhole

2) the left most edge of the "C" and the right edge of the "III" are where the airholes are.

These are of course for my units. I do expect the consistency of MB's manufacturing to be top notch, so it could be universally applicable

I'll doublecheck next time I open up, but I think there's variance in where things land after you put on the "middle". Because I'm pretty sure my internal airhole is "opposite the III".

I've got FAR less wick.
photo coming....

the airhole inlet on mine is directly opposite the word chalice at the rear of the atty ideally you should set it up that the inner airhole is up when you vape this is equal to any other atty where you would set up the airhole to be up...

small chamber atties need a lighter squonk because it takes less volume displacement to fill and can leak quicker. the chalice 3 can leak too but it don't leak outside, instead it leaks into the inner chamber between the walls... this will cause gurgling. keep one thing in mind though, when ever you hear gurgling in the chalice 3, that would have been a leak pouring fluid out of your airhole had it been a chalice II or most any other conventional atties. on the bottom feeder I showed my chalice on it's set up for a chalice exclusively, never had any other atty on it so I made the squonk hole in the door pretty tiny. I can't even fit my whole fingertip through the hole but with a tiny atty like a chalice I never need to, just a slight depression with a finger tip is enough to saturate the wick in a chalice. if you don't oversquonk and you set the atty up with the airhole up as you vape you can get to the point of no gurgling at all but the beauty here is, instead of leaking from an oversquonk it just gurgles until you clear the excess fluid. it gets sucked right back into the chamber as you draw. in a lot of ways this is very similar to the immortalizer atty as a bottom feed because it has a similar dual wall airpath, but the immortalizer differed in that it drew air from below the coil so it almost always gurgled. oh and on that subject bobc, bro, I think you aren't right in the way your imagining the airflow here, the way you have your coil your air inlet is going to be right where your wick is.... if you think it's vaping good now then try it with the coil facing away from the 2 posts, the air does not come up from the center like a kayfun or a magma, it comes in from the side opposite the posts from inside the cap :)
