Hi Steph, how's it going....still trudging along the path....good to hear. Yes the 24mg would make a difference. I was a PAD myself for over 35 years and I haven't smoked since I vaped. Still have the same half pack. Security blanket  I am loving this vape thing....I was the same as you...got into this by chance...no real intention. Now my wife is dabbling and one of my 5 kids bought an Ego kit...with his own money I might add. Though I did tell him if he is still vaping after two months, cut down ciggies if not all of them, then I would reimburse the initial cost. His user name is Beel Weelson.....keep an eye out for him. You have been doing wonderful and don't put any pressure on yourself. I have been reading on here to give yourself 2 months at least. Everybody is different and has their own path....don't look at the ones you smoke...but celebrate the ones you don't. :2cool:

I started at 24mg, thinking that's what I needed. The TH was a little much for me at first. I had previously smoked 1.5 PAD of Marlboro Lights and before that 1 PAD Marlboro Reds. I got an 18mg sample bottle with my first order and realized that one hit so much more smooth for me. Plus, I think I vape WAY more than I smoked because it tastes to good, so I went down to 18 for good, sometimes 12. But when I get stressed I go back to the 24mg juice. And tonight was pretty stressful, I couldn't get the craving to go away. I was even doing the "leave it in your mouth for two seconds, inhale, exhale slowly through nose" technique. I ended up smoking 4 analogs tonight and I've been down to 2 a day. Tomorrow is a new day and another stepping stone on the road to completely quitting the stinkies!

One day you will decide that you want to give up tobacco and vape only. It's one of those decisions that is based on your acceptance that cigarettes are bad for you and vaping will satisfy the urges for nicotine. I reached that point after two years of vaping and still smoking after meals and with coffee. It was odd to me that I could go from breakfast until lunch and not think about a cigarette as long as I vaped.

One day I decided to vape alternately while smoking my after dinner cigarette. Right away I noticed that the ecig tasted good and my Doral ultra light tasted nasty. I kept doing that for a while until I convinced myself that I could keep the vape and drop the tobacco. I did that and what do you know? I never missed the cigarettes. It's been a year since I quit cigarettes and my wife still smokes. She doesn't care for the taste of ecigs. When she lights up I barely notice it and surely don't want one. It's magic when you have the ecig to take care of the cravings for tobacco. If I had known three years ago what I know now, I'd be three years off tobacco. I just associated quitting smoking with cravings. The ecig prevented that completely.

Vape and smoke until you get to the point where you decide to choose one or the other. Don't let it be a source of frustration. Think about it for a while and do both. The ecig will slow you down to a safer smoking level, anyway. If you compare side by side, I suspect you will choose your ecig and drop the stinkies.

All I can say is that we have no clue what chemicals they put in those tobacco cigarettes to keep you hooked. Everyone is different, but this is both a psychological and physical roadblock. I can say for sure, once you take that leap of faith, within days your mind and body starts forgetting that whole tobacco burning smoking thing. You mainly need the nicotine, find a flavor you love, get a level of nicotine in that flavor that satisfies you, and when you've convinced yourself that you are tired of the physical and monetary damage that cigarettes are causing not to mention the hundreds of other negatives about them, just take the leap, the nicotine is your parachute, vaping assists with the habit, together they can keep you away from smoking tobacco. I have no evidence but I guarantee you that cigarettes have something else in them that make us addicted to them, you gotta break away and not look back, it's easy after a few days of only vaping.

Edit: oh and I agree wholeheartedly, the whole smoking thing has us hooked to the point of believing we will be crippled without them. It's not true, vaping is the answer if you want to get away. Just make the decision to do it, and don't look back.

2nd edit: sorry for the long reply, I'm on a mission to help anyone who wants to be free again, free from smoking, until science can prove that vaping is worse for you.

I was a pad smoker off an on for 15 years. I'd wanted to quit for a long time, and one day accidentally found ecigs via a forum that came up on Google. It was the best accidental find of my life. I started vaping and didn't look back. After about a year, I tried a friends cig just to see what I felt, and I didn't like it. It was really the best choice I've ever made. I not only improved my health, but the health of several family members and friends, as they switched too.

I was smoking 3 PAD of 8mg nic cigs. What I did was I bought 3 bottles of juice. One was an 18mg coffee flavour (I soooo love my coffee during the day), and a bottle of 24 mg Blended Tobacco, plus a bottle of 0 mg Blended Tobacco. I used a graduated syringe to mix the two tobaccos, until I had one that didn't give me the dizzies. Right now, I'm alternating between 18mg coffee and 12mg Blended tobacco, and doing fine.

Finding the right level is a bit of experimentation. You can take suggestions, but remember ... they are only suggestions. YOU have to experiment to find the level of nic that is right for you. My suggestion is to buy a bottle of high nic level, plus a bottle of 0 nic level, and experiment until you find your equilibrium.

My 2 cents, there is a thread with a calculation made by one of the members it does a simple comparison as in how much a person smoked and what they smoked and recommends the amount of nic in a PV one should start with.

It's not a rocket science calc, but a guide.

Feel free to use 24mg if u think it well help, I do and I smoked 1 1/2 Pad. GL you well get there op.

Absolutely it's fine to go to a strength higher. My craving points were first waking up, first time in the car on the way to work, and after dinner. I was a PAD smoker, Camel straights for years, then Marlboro reds.

For me, early on I had 3 strengths. "Normal", 24 mg/ml, was what I used throughout the day, a generic replacement for smoking. "High test", 30 mg/ml, was for those craving points, I went to a firm tobacco flavor with higher nic. "Chain vaping" was when I was sitting at a desk doing puff after puff of something I liked, and then I would drop to a 16.

Good luck, sounds like you're doing well :)

Hi stefania and congrats on 1+ week. You have to pat yourself on the back as you deserve credit for this accomplishment.
In regards to withdrawal nicotine it's the least of our worries.
They did a study on rats. First they got them "addicted" to nicotine and placed a bowl of nic in the cage- rats wouldn't self medicate. Next they added alkaloids (present in analogs) and got them addicted to that. When the mixture of nic+ alkaloids was placed in the cage the rats made a beeline to the bowl and immediately began self medicating.
In the vast majority of cases it does get better and if you feel the need for an analog go right ahead without guilt.
As for myself I began at 36 mg X 50+ ml per week. Now down to 2 mg X 15 ml per week. I still keep higher strength juice on hand for those stressful times and have no problem using it.
Wishing the Very Best for You.

Yeah, my logic seems off. BUT I'm an ex drunk who just passed one year and no booze. So to me, anything is possible! Only thing to do is test different levels out. Our bodies are all different. There's no math class or equation that'll say you smoked x so you need y.

One thing that's for sure is there's no shortage of options when it comes to vaping. Find what works for you. This site has been an incredibly helpful tool for me and hope it is for you too.

Congrats on the 1 year......

when i started lowering my dose i did it by cutting 24 mg with 0 pg. thought it would save money but i dont real spend alot on vaping anyway . it worked fine tho at first it felt like i couldnt breath when id be stressed.down to just buying 12 mg and thinking about trying to drop it again....but for now im happy with 12

couldnt breathe because you were cutting with too low nicotine, or couldnt breathe because at 24 mgs nicotine was too high?

Thanks Talyon , Vapoor eyes er and markfm :)

You're very welcome and thank you. I've converted many smokers and I've always believed and told converts vaping should be stress free, relaxing and enjoyable. When I had quit in the past using traditional smoking cessation progs I was white knuckling it all the way and was so very uptight and miserable.
Within my game plan I was targeting last New Years as my quit vaping date...needless to say it didn't happen but I'm not bothered in the least by it. I'll eventually get there as I know you will reach your goals. Just be patient and enjoy the ride knowing there's an easier way.
Wishing you the Very Best of Luck.
