I tend to agree that people pick on someone thinking it makes them stronger somehow. It's a very twisted way to think, but it seems fairly widespread.

Another related question is why people gang up on someone. I think when someone who their cohorts respect or who they consider powerful is offended by something, then those cohorts just follow along without question. People tend to not think for themselves but just follow the herd. So once someone objected to her video, others just jumped on the bandwagon without giving it a lot of thought. They may not have even noticed any offense if that one person didn't bring it up to them.

You hit the nail right on the head with this explanation - It is actually called the "Herd Mentality & Behavior". . .

And I really hate to say this, but from "My" Own Personal Experience and from what I read in some other threads it happens all to often right here on ECF . . . And as many of the "My ECF Friends" can attest, I have been ready to leave ECF a few times because of certain people's "holier than tho attitudes" and need to "berate/belittle" others into "behaving" as they see fit - Either think and do as I do as I say or YOU HAVE TO LEAVE . . .

The one thing I have learned in my limited time here at ECF, no matter how wonderful and helpful so many people are - there are always going to be a few people (especially given their anonymity) that will be total _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (fill in the blank with any appropriate word you feel comfortable saying ;) ). However, if you really think about it, this attitude and belief it is no diffferent than what many people in the greater RL Society believe . . . If You're Different or You Do Not Agree with "The Majority" . . . We Will Beat YOU Into Submission . . .

And seeing/reading about this happening to the one person whose video convinced and actually brought me over to Smokeless Image & The "Volt" is so disheartening . . . I truely hope and wish that "SteelJan" will come back - at least to "Us", because as far as I am concerned - and IMHO- She is and will always be "Our" SteelJan . . . :D

LAX - Where THE H - Have YOU BEEN ? ? ? ?

Hi ! ! ! Glad to see you post . . .:D

Afternoon Voltians :) Haven't been around in a while but hope everyone is doing well.

I just wanted to stop by in hopes that SteelJan might check-in...
I want to express my gratitude to SteelJan for her informative videos sharing her wealth of knowledge with so many folks. I believe the vaping community has lost an incredible asset and spokeswoman due to the behavior of some childish few. I sincerely hope she knows how thankful we are for her and that she will rejoin this community in time.

I went to YouTube and watched a bunch of them. A couple of things stood out. First, it's interesting that people were so outraged that she was attacked because she's a 60-year-old woman. What if the person attacked is a 20-year-old man?Doesn't that count? Being a 60-plus-year-old woman, it sort of disturbs me that people think we should be treated with softer kid gloves than the general populace. I know the people were on SteelJan's side, but I'm thinking more that we should be on the side of humane treatment for everyone, no matter what their age or gender. Also, most of the people on the videos attacked the cyber bullies with the same kind of insults and language that the cyber bullies are accused of using. Did they do this thinking that the bullies wouldn't understand anything else? Or are they stooping to the level that they are criticizing in the same breath?

Anyway, this whole thing is very disturbing to me, and it's making me think a lot about human nature and what it all means.

DITTO ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ What She Said + 1000 . . . :D

The human nature part I might be able to help with. Society tends to sympathize with those who are seen as weaker because of age or disability or what-have-you. (I'm not going into the "gender" issue. They don't pay me well enough here to take that kind of abuse.)

So, an attack on someone like that is seen as more egregious than if it happened to someone like me, for example. Not that society wouldn't see it as wrong, but the level of outrage would be less.

I'll let others debate the right or wrong of that. I'll just do the psychology stuff. :)

HEY You - BACK OFF Trying to take MY Position - I'm the Professional Counselor . . .

I like a little levity in with a serious discussion. If not, things get too heavy and depressing. Life is absurd, and it's good to notice it.

In some ways I disagree with you. Many of us past a certain age are being held together by toothpicks and glue and sheer will power. I believe you should handle children with a gentler touch, and seniors as well. Seniors have lived through A LOT and have the scars, brittle bones, infirmities, medications, artificial joints, and wisdom gathered over a long lifetime to prove it. Haven't we earned a bit more respect because of it? Would you drive your classic '56 Chevy as hard as you would a new car?

Of course you should treat everyone with respect and humanity, but I do understand and agree that those who would attack a child or a senior are particularly loathsome. Just my :2c:

Not to change the subject or anything, but...

I'm trying to decide between getting a bottle of RY4 and 555. Which one is more harsh?

I've started making my own juices now and I've made some smooth stuff. I need something harsher to balance things out.

Desert Joe is okay, but I'd like something else. Can't stand Cowboy, so that's out too.

On my original order, I got the Sample Pack, but I was just vaping them like mad and I don't remember what the heck they tasted like.

Any thoughts about 555 vs RY4?
