I knew things would turn out well with Millie. ;)[/QUOTE

She's been a very good teacher. I've got to take her to the vet though, she must have some kind of skin problem and the prednisone isn't working. Today I palpated some nodules under her skin first time I felt those.I'm hoping its nothing serious. Her labwork was great the last time I took her in,but my vet couldn't give her a thorough exam, maybe she will let him this time if not I'm pretty sure she will let me do it with him telling me what to do. I just don't want her traumatized.

Raynes, that reminds me of a quick short story. Bill, over there in my avi, is one of the best herders I've seen. I believe somewhere on this thread, I mentioned he thinks he has to herd cats. Well, the cats are friendly in telling Bill they are not interested in being herded.

One time, when Bill first came to the ranch, he tried to herd the wild turkeys. They were not as nice about their refusal as the cats. Now whenever the turkeys show up, Bill takes off in the opposite direction. It is funny to see.

Poor Bill !!! He tries so hard to keep everyone where he thinks they should be !! I didn't know wild turkeys were aggressive though.
I love Bill, he stays so focused,he's amazing

Wild turkeys can be extremely aggressive, and at some times they will chase you and attack. It's best not to let them ... um ... take over your front deck.

Yeah, the turkeys were not happy at all and they let Bill know it. And it wasn't just one turkey, there were quite a few after him. It was funny to watch.

All this talk of wild turkeys reminds me of a story I heard on the radio some time ago. See Poultry Slam 2011 | This American Life

That's a fact! We have a rather large population of Wild Turkeys here on the mountain they compete with the Deer for the food I put out for the Deer and they don't like the sound of my Harley, I've had 4 or 5 chase me down the driveway more than once and they jump up and try to claw you while on the bike. It's kinda scary and funny all at the same time.

Well it's time to head out to meet the guy's for our annual Fall Foliage ride down the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 469.1 miles each way in 2 days with about 300 Bikes we stay at the campground in Pigeon Forge on the other end if they don't throw us out, came close last year...See ya Sunday Night with some Pictures at least the ones that don't violate the forum rules. :D

Poor guy - he must've felt like he was in a Hitchcock film! That's like a really bad nightmare, being chased by a bunch of angry turkeys, going all gobble-gobble and everything!

OK...that just went a little cartoony, but still!

Wild turkeys have an unfair advantage, too, they can fly while poor Bill is stuck with speed and agility.

This is ... um ... interesting. And illustrates my point.

As was said in another thread "you can't cure stupid". She showed the turkey she was afraid which only made it more agressive. Once she was in the car all she had to do was blow the horn and it would have taken off. It was interesting to see the camera pulsing with her heart beat once she got into the car though, she was kind of frightened to say the least. I do wonder what attracted the turkey to her in the first place, maybe the camera or maybe her perfume. Local reporters have a big disadvantage, no cameraman, they're their own crew.
