Sitting down, facing forward.
The most agressive bird I've ever run into is the goose, wild or domestic. I had a gander attack my car because he thought it/I was a threat to his harem. He pecked the heck out of the front bumper until I blew the horn and chased him away with the sound. That was back in the days of chrome bumpers so no damage done, other than damage to his pride. Swans can be nasty, too. At the office park where I worked one of the secretaries used to feed the swans in the "lakes". She ended up with a dislocated shoulder after trying to feed them after the had some chicks, but she kept on feeding them anyway.

Well it's time to head out to meet the guy's for our annual Fall Foliage ride down the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 469.1 miles each way in 2 days with about 300 Bikes we stay at the campground in Pigeon Forge on the other end if they don't throw us out, came close last year...See ya Sunday Night with some Pictures at least the ones that don't violate the forum rules. :D

I thought you might be in Daytona this weekend. Big fun at the Fox Head, Cabbage Patch and down on Main Street. Thinking about goin up to Main Street tonight for a while.

Good Morning Volties.

Kia, another great contest???? You wild and crazy woman:)

SandySu and CommaHolly and a couple of others - For gosh sakes, I hope all of you start feeling a little better.

Enjoy the show, 1st Officer. Nature is so incredible.

Coffee and SI Ry4 this morning. My arms are so tired from cleaning houses that I think I will do almost nothing today, I think I will take my bad little horse out for a drive. I took him out a few days ago and he was worried about dogs [seems to be one of the things he worries about. He also tried to turn into several driveways without being asked. He saw another horse and turned into the driveway lickety split. I whoa, whoa whoa'd him on that one!!!! Bad little horsey. Got him backed out and turned around but he was a pill. I haven't had him out in about three weeks because of vacation. Even as a bad little horse he isn't too bad and he does listen even if I have to work at it sometimes:)

The next day I took him for a walk in his halter and rope on the same route. He started jumping and bucking a little bit when I got him moving at one driveway entrance. I turned him around and we walked past again and he bucked again. I turned him around and we walked past again!!! He settled down that time. I love the little guy but every so often he is a little bit of a stinker. He will probably be a little angel today since we worked out some of the bugs again.

Have to agree with you here, Awsum. They stretch their necks out, put down their heads, and charge. They'll peck at your legs and gang up on you.

Morning Volties,,,,,,

over slept again,,,,probably because I haven't been sleeping at NIGHT

Husband working this AM, since they now have a contract.

I have NEVER seen a wild turkey,,,,,,I did get attacked once by a goose. Scary stuff.

The only swans I've ever seen were at a camp ground,,,,,gorgeous creatures,,,,,but they weren't aggressive (Probably used to people) and would come right up to our camp spot on the lake and swim close to us,,

Have fun on your ride, Officer!!!!! Can't wait to see some pics!

Good Saturday morning. Volties.

I have no experience with wild turkeys, but I can tell you firsthand that roosters and mama hens can be pretty aggressive, too. I've been chased by hens on the farm and saw a mad rooster in action. I was 4 or 5 at the time and it was darn scary.

My grand father used to operate a chicken and egg farm so I definitely know about roosters and mama hens. Spent a lot of my youth catching chicks that got loose (LOL)...

Wild turkeys can be extremely aggressive, and at some times they will chase you and attack. It's best not to let them ... um ... take over your front deck.

Hey guys! I missed you all.
btw all i could read was "Food can be extremely aggressive, and at some times they will chase you and attack. It's best not to let them ... um ... take over your front deck."

Konstantine, there's a saying in the US that one uses when they don't understand something. The saying is, "It's all Greek to me."

So, after I read your post all I could think of is, "It's all English to me." Yes, I know, it lost something in the translation.

I have a policy about food, if it doesn't move as fast as me I eat it. If it moves faster than me, I have other methods :)

Hi Konstantine. I sure hope, and wish, things would turn around for you and the rest of Greece. Western civilization just wouldn't be the same without the legacy Greece has provided and I think we all need too remember that, especially when times get tough.

Just got back from watching my neighbor chunk pumpkins and it was great! It was a charity "chunk" for ALS. There were two trebuchets and an air cannon there and my neighbors was the best, at least to me. The other trebuchet needed some work, it ws only throwing about 500 feet while his was going well over 1000. The air cannon went a lot further, but I think if my neighbor tunes his release point so that the trajectory is more horizontal than vertical, it'll probably go 3000 feet or more. It's amazing to see how much trouble they are to .... and load, and then the action of the compound arms when they fire is something to see. We took Bo with us and he was as big a hit as the trebuchets and air cannon. He's all tuckered out from endless petting and fawning, poor guy (right!).

Down here in South Jersey there's lots of open farm land. The County Fair Grounds abut to a farm so there had to be 3/4 of a mil of a mile of open space for a "landing zone". The air cannon was making it pretty much all the way, but even if they had chunked them further, there's a few hundred acres of woods after that and then a sod farm so you could safely fire high powered rifles there as well. As far as noise, a trebuchet is basically completely silent and the air cannon just made a loud "woosh", Bo didn't even look up or jump for any of it and he hates loud, sharp noises.
