You all have a GREAT night. Has anyone heard from Blues,Uncle or Holly?

No, we haven't heard. Uncle comes and goes, so I'm not too worried about him, but last we heard of Holly, she wasn't feeling well, so I hope she's OK and just busy. I can understand not hearing from Blues, since he's probably busy recovering. Rave, can you give us an update?

I LOVE almond milk! I've only had the original flavor but I might sample the chocolate soon. Now, I only use regular cow's milk for cooking.

I got Silk brand, and I looked at the ingredients list after I got it home. It has sugar added. Regular milk doesn't, so maybe that's healthier? They did say it has more calcium than regular milk, though. I read up on it a little on the Internet, and someone suggested Silk brand because they don't use carageenan, which may not be good for you, though it sounds like the jury is still out on that. Carageenan is made from seaweed, and it's used as a thickener for a lot of stuff, like candy.

I don't think we have a place called the Tractor Store. I think when I get my feet wet with DIY stuff, I'll just play it safe and buy the stuff from WL.

Right now I'm so new to vaping so I really haven't gotten my favorite flavor down enough to know what I want to try. I'm back and forth on sweet and tobacco flavors. I really don't want to have a bunch of bottles in my pantry just quite yet. I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I take the plunge. But, I do want the cost savings so I expect I will be ordering something in the very near future.

It's Tractor Supply. See Tractor Supply Company - Home and find out if they have a store near you. Is the PG their own brand or another brand that they happen to carry? If it's another brand, maybe you can get that brand at a different farm store.

Hey!!! We women like to read the "manly" discussions too! Learn a lot from them! I'll have to let hubby know about starting up lawn care stuff through the winter months. Great idea! See? We women get good info from the "manly men" posts too.

Keep um coming!

It makes sense that you should run mechanical things occasionally, since I know that letting a car sit for a long time w/o starting it and letting it run is bad for its engine.

Thanks Sandy. There is one that is not too far. Next time I'm in the area, I'll check it out. Thanks!

I usually stay away from Silk products because of the added sugar. If you are near a Trader Joes, they have great unsweetened Almond Milk. I have it every day in my breakfast smoothie.

Here is a study on the effects of PG from Canada: The safety of propylene glycol (PG) when inhaled through an electronic cigarette. Studies on the effect of the inhalation of propylene glycol through a personal vaporizer.

Somewhere when I pulled up the Tractor Supply site on PG, I saw a warning that it was for "Animal Use Only" even though it is USP, so I still would be careful about it until you do a lot of research.

Unfortunately, Trader Joe's hasn't come to our area yet. I don't understand why. Nearly every other chain has come to Ithaca, even Walmart, though there was a big fuss over that.

Thanks for the link on that PG hazards/safety article, Rabbit. Interesting to read that the EPA has already classed it as safe but the FDA is going "study the problem". Another example of our Government, finely tuned, working smoothly and in a carefully coordinated fashion to better serve the citizens. It's also interesting to note that the same basic results have been obtained with VG, which I think has been around longer than PG.

After reading all the raves about almond milk I Googled 'how to make almond milk.' While most methods start with blanched almonds I found out how to make it by blending almond flour with water. A bit of vanilla and/or honey added is optional.

I have a large supply of almond flour and will try making my own almond milk. Then I wondered about making almond butter and found a recipe for making it by simply combining almond milk and almond flour to the right consistency. So if I make some extra almond milk I can make almond butter out of it. A lot of recipes for baking with almond flour call for almond butter in them. It's pretty pricey at the store, so I'm glad to know how easy it will be to make my own.

OK, I called my local Tractor Supply and talked with the Manager. He said that he would not recommend their PG for human consumption. It is USP, Industrial Grade, not Phama Grade. Doing research for the past 30 minutes on the Internet only finds one supplier of USP Phama Grade PG in bulk: Propylene glycol, 99.8%, USP, Kosher.

Wizard Labs also has it in smaller quanties but not as cheap. I will do some research on VG purity and post later.

I'll stick to WL for PG and VG, just makes me more comfortable with it for inhalation.

A comment on wood splitting. I used to heat with a wood stove and spent many hours splitting wood. While I won't knock hydraulic splitters, especially for people that aren't physically fit or some really tough woods, nothing beats a "monster maul" in the fifteen pound size for splitting for me. For those that don't know, a monster maul is a wedge of steel about eight or nine inches long on the point end and maybe four inches wide across the back end. The whole thing is three or four inches thick, kind of like a solid steel slice of pie. And this massive head is mounted on a re-enforced steel handle about three feet long. If the wood was dry, I could just let it drop from about head height and the wood would fall apart. The toughest stuff, swamp maple, would take several hard swings. It was a great way to vent the frustrations of the day and get one heck of a good upper body workout while doing something constructive and productive. Even at my current age, if I had a wood stove, I'd still use a monster maul over a hydraulic, I really did enjoy splitting with it.

Gotta go get productive....later dudes

First response: My research on VG has been covered on this site quite thoroughly. If it says USP which is Phama Grade it is OK to vape. That includes Humco brand from Wally Mart. Enough said.

Your view of Monster Maul is absolutely correct. I used one for 15 years and it hardly shows any wear. Unfortunatley at 68 years old, I can hardly lift it anymore :laugh:

Good Morning Volties. The bread is in the bread drawer rising [we have an antique cabinet near the wood stove for odds and ends; we pull the shallow top drawer out and set the bread bowl in it; it is perfect for keeping the dogs out of the dough and it is nice and toasty over there].

Hubby was splitting wood with a maul but he isn't getting any younger AND he loves all his toys: chainsaws and files and the wood splitter and the trailer and the rebuilding carburetors and such. He has a really physical job so I think the wood splitter was a good idea.

As for PG and VG, I trust Wizard Labs, I'm already saving a lot of money by doing it myself and I am sticking with buying it through them. It gives me an excuse to buy more flavors at the same time I order nic/pg/vg. Last time I ordered 60mg nic in pg only so that I can basically add VG [maybe some PG if I'm going down to 12mg]. I'm not that picky on PG/VG ratio. Anything between 50PG/50VG and 90Pg/10VG is probably okay with me.

Have a great day, Volties. I have to bake some cookies, do some laundry and get the little feet on the little horse trimmed today. The farrier will be here about 2pm. I think I will throw in some more whacking down perennials with the hedge trimmer since about 20 minutes of that is all I can take at one time so I need to keep chipping away at the garden clean up.

I heard it won't go above 30 degrees today. Brrr.

Flowers to take away the winter blahs. Here, the snow is slowly melting, and it's at that grungy stage. We need a fresh coating -- not too much -- to freshen up the world a little. Instead, the forecast says we may get thunderstorms on Sunday. That's unusual for winter, though I have rarely heard it thunder while it's snowing.

Today, I go to physical therapy, and I plan to discuss what the doctor said Tuesday about another operation. I've pretty much decided to wait and see, though that may change, depending on what the physical therapist says.

The 50/50 stuff gets me confused! I see kits that sell 50/50 PG/VG and I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I thought it would be simpler to buy 100% of both PG and VG then start mixing those. Ugh! I never realized I would have to drag my calculator out to vape! But, I'm a Julia Child fan and she spent hours and hours in the kitchen perfecting just one recipe, so if she can do it, so can I!
