There are specific threads on the forum surrounding the proposed legislation in the US, however Personal Vaporizors have been around for years, and I personally have researched making your own from videos on You Tube from readily available Radio Shack parts. It is not hard at all except, "the voltage is not regulated like the X2 and others". You can also purchase the electronic boards to regulate the voltage to 3.7 volts, or when your 78 or X2, X3 dies, you can extract the board from the device and reuse it.

Personal vaporizers are used for other medical inhalation products and I doubt they would be banned, but maybe they could require an Rx from your Dr. who knows? You can purchase many many types of personal vaporizers now on the Internet which are not sold by e-cigarette companies, so I am optimistic that the actual mechanical products will be available.

On another note, even if they ban imports of products from China, they will be shipped as something else like flashlights, batteries, or toys etc. Black markets will evolve just like they did in prohibition and mom and pop e-juice factories will be found everywhere, although not selling in the open. You just can't keep a good vaper down.

I just returned from visiting Penny. Though it's very, very muddy with the recent big thaw, Penny was fairly clean. What does that mean? Has she not been rolling or lying down in the pasture? I groomed her a bit more thoroughly than before. Each time I go to the barn, I'm able to do a little more. I was able to brush her mane and forelock. Penny is trained to lower her head when I ask, so I was able to reach the forelock and mane near her head, but as I worked back toward her withers, the mane got higher and higher, and I had to strain to reach the last section at her withers. But I did it. The handle on the brush gave me just enough reach. Heather brought Penny in and turned her out, and while I groomed Penny, Heather groomed her horse, Freska. Freska is basically white, and she was a lot dirtier than Penny, who is chestnut (coppery brown). Why is it that white horses always like to get dirtier than brown ones? And it's not just that you can see the dirt on them, either. They seem to enjoy becoming brown like their herd mates.

I read somewhere that its due to their being prey animals as white or light horses are easier seen so they "camoflage" themselves.Kind of like domestic dogs like to roll in something dead to cover their scent still.

LOL! One last point : super easy to CLEAN vivi novas!
Would never ever ever ever ever recommend the gray (Toy photo album) to anyone - esp if you are losing sensitivity in your fingertips. Liked the digital screen but not worth it.

Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2

I hear you loud and clear. That's why I'll just stick to the twist or the now new SI spinner. Simple in operation. I don't need additional buttons to go with having to use a manual battery. It will be excellent when SI introduces the auto spinner. I'm glad Imagine said they are currently working on that. They will be the absolute first to introduce an automatic variable voltage device. That will be right up my alley. ;)

Just Chit Chat: I noticed that Wizard Labs has soooooo much business that they have a 5 to 6 day backlog and are not taking any new orders for a few days. I bet that is due to the possible new FDA regulations as well as all of our chat on their cheap flavors. When ever regulations are coming out, a rush to purchase whatever is being regulated starts. Example: I was "interested" in a handgun, and while I was in Virginia, I visited a store called Green Top, which specializes in hunting gear, guns etc. It is an old line dealer which just moved to an empty Gander Mountain store about the size of a WalMart. Well, the parking lot was almost 100% full, and the lines in the store to purchase all types of guns were 5 to 10 deep, just to get to talk to about 10 salesmen. I had to wait about 1/2 hour in order to just get a look at some of the handguns and see how they feel. As the talk of further handgun legislation escalates, the rush to purchase will also increase. AND, as the rush to legislation on Personal Vaporizers and e-cigarettes comes closer, so will the demand for stocking up on our products will. Wizard Labs example above. We will just have to wait and see what happens folks.

Hi SandySu... you'll just have to read that report for yourself. That's exactly what they want to do. You are absolutely right about what is still being allowed on store shelves right along with tobacco cigarettes. The FDA has it soooo wrong!

Thats one option, not necessarily what the FDA will wind up doing. I agree that there should be some sort of control or standards, and this site http://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2013/01/fda-will-issue-proposed-regulations-for.html says it well.

control and standards should be generated by the market - not the Government.

You got that right. The government can't do anything right. Jackie Chan just made the statement that the U.S. government is the most corrupt in the world. While I may not agree with that I do belive it is in the top 10.

The government controls the safety of a lot of things. They probably will control e-cigs in some way. Let's just hope it's a reasonable way, not what some of us fear. As for the market controlling the standards, how do most of us know whether the e-liquid we buy is safe? We assume there are no contaminants in it, and if everyone got sick from a certain company's products, that company would go out of business, but we don't actually know that when we order liquid with 12 mg nicotine, there is actually 12 mg in it. That kind of thing. I know that on ECF there are mad scientist types who'll measure it and tell us, but that's a bonus we can't expect in general. I think there needs to be standards and rules set, and a company should get in legal trouble if they don't meet the standards.

Sandy Su, you may be right, but my real fear here is who is going to protect us from an interfering nanny state that does not think we are capable of making decisions for ourselve. Just take a look at mayor Bloomberg & you will see a face on what I'm talking about. No soda pop , no trans fat, no popcorn, What is next?

This is to Lizzie and any others who helped me with DIY:

I finally received my second batch of "true" flavors from Wizard Labs and I mixed up my base tobaccos like you told me:
5% Tobacco Base
5% Ethyl Malto
5% Caramel (I used Caramel Candy)
Tobacco Absolute 1%

I mixed up Double RY4 base, English Tobacco Base, Asian RY4 Base
All tasted pretty good without ANY steeping. I will let them sit for awhile and then experiment with additions like coconut, vanillia, peach.

I mixed up a batch of 5% Peach and it was also pretty good right out of the gate. Again, will let it steep for awhile.

Finally, WL sent me a sample of Peanut Buter and I mixed 5% Butterscotch and 4% Peanut Butter: Pretty good also.

None of these right now would be 5 Star, but maybe after steeping and some adjustments, I might just get the hang of this mixture of Chemistry and Cooking.

Thanks Again Lizzie, and any more blends, pass them along.

Edit: Now I smell like Peanut Butter.

Dr. Siegel submitted this proposal to the FDA IF regulation goes into effect. These are his suggestions about what involvement the FDA could put into play. I read it on the legislative news thread. There has been no reported "ill-effects" from the current eliquid or equipment suppliers so far. In general, most reputable vendors want to sell quality products. They know they are being closely watched and don't want any negative press. The media would be all over it. We as adults have to take the responsibility on ourselves to check the reputation of any company we decide to do business with. Big brother is too involved in our lives already.

Like anything we buy for consumption, even food that we eat cannot be absolutely guaranteed proven safe for consumption. Even medication that the FDA has approved to be safe had to been recalled later because of contamination or causing death. Another case in point... the recent catastrophy involving contaminated steroid medication that was injected into patients for back pain relief... causing meningitis. Another FDA regulated medication.

The FDA needs to turn this same energy toward tobacco companies... banning cigarettes that are sold on every street corner in every city. These are the dangerous products that they should be concerned about. Right now, we can decide to raise or lower nicotine levels depending on how our bodies react. That should remain our choice. The FDA wants us to only have 3mg nicotine liquid. Why should they be allowed to make that decision, taking it out of our hands. How many people would be able to quit smoking if 3mg liquid is the highest nic level they could get.

I really hope the FDA will actually read all the testimonies that we have submitted to see how successful it has been for us to stop smoking using the current ecigarettes with the current levels of nicotine.

Maybe there are cases of going overboard, but people can't or won't police themselves, and they don't hold themselves responsible. My favorite example is the story of a guy who sued McDonald's because his coffee was too hot and burned him. People expect to be catered to and told what's harmful and what's not. Many won't do the research themselves, so they have no idea that trans fats are unhealthy, and even if they do, they are too lazy or in a hurry to read labels (and some rule somewhere says the manufacturer has to list it on the label). Until people behave responsibly and stop blaming others for their goofs, I guess the government has to take it upon themselves to be nursemaids. I think in part, the increased policing is because in this modern age, there's just too much info out there for the average person to take in, and also, science knows more about what's bad for people. What gets me is when they keep changing their minds. First, it's better to eat X than Y, and then they find out X has carcinogens, so now they tell you to eat Y. Too confusing! As for the safety of e-liquids and e-cigarettes, I'm glad someone more expert than me is going to be sure the stuff is safe. On the small scale it is now, maybe companies can regulate themselves, but e-cigs are growing by leaps and bounds, and soon it may be big business. Big business has never been very good about policing themselves.

Glad you were successful Rabbit and like what you have created. Aren't you glad that you didn't give up on it. One of the vendors that I get eliquids from will have a flavor in the testing stage for months before release. You'll get better as you continue! :thumb:

3 mg is ridiculous. Apparently they don't know what levels people are vaping. How many mg's of nicotine are in an average cigarette? Will they limit that, too?

I disagree completely with this. This is where survival of the fittest comes into play. One of natures laws that has been circumvented for way too long.

I think quality standards are fine, if that would be the only thing the FDA regulates. I think the FDA realizes the loss of revenue of all the exsmokers turned vapers. There is little to no sales tax going in because of online sales, and then the state mandated tax per pack that are lost. To top that off, vapers are healing and may not go into smoking related health issues, so big pharma is losing money too.

I don't have any faith in the FDA trying to make vaping safe. It's all about the uncontrolled revenue stream they see and which pocketbook it goes into.

They soaked the smokers, and now they are trying to violate the vapers!

That's my :2c: . Getting off my FDA hate soapbox now.
