Yup. I use a compass for full moons. It's just another tool, just as a brush is.
I'm glad you all approve. I thought maybe it was cheating, but then I thought, why not?

So the mail ran today, surprisingly. I got my pencils and am playing with them now. It's really fun. I'll see if I can take a picture of my vase I sketched. Its not that bad I think, but we'll see if i can 1 up myself later on down the road.
I just finished putting more plastic and tape over my windows. -15 now. That's what I was thinking, 0mg. Florida weather reports, while bad for Floridians, sound like springtime to me.....I'm thinking of giving up the catering. I've toyed with the idea before, but I just keep doing it. I'm afraid if I quit, then I'll regret it. So I procrastinate. I think the difficult parking is the one thing that makes me really dislike the work. Also, it's physically very hard, and it's demanding, yet the pay is just a tad above minimum wage.
Well, I have been residing under the evil will of Winter Storm Ion. Don't know exactly how much snow we got but it measured 12" before I went to bed. And, the wind was blowing it off the deck, so that may not have been accurate. It's incredibly cold now, so the snow, which was very heavy and wet, turned into concrete.
Kinda fun to watch. The birds were going crazy stocking up on food to weather the storm. The trees were completely encrusted until the winds started causing vertical avalanches that started at the tops of the trees and knocked down tons of snow on their descent. The pics don't do it justice because you can't judge the depth of the snow on the trees. It was impressive.

Doesn't look like it, but this is the top of a big tree with a foot of snow on the larger limbs.
Photographing artwork is rough! Where did you get the kit?
It is still snowing here, not as heavy now though. Our forecast shows it could snow for the next 4 days, 20-30% chance. That's hopefully all for now, we don't have anywhere to put it! The lake effect is coming all the way across Michigan, but it usually comes in 'streamers', maybe it will miss us. Looking at the weather map, it looks like the lake effect will hit your neighborhood too, Rave.
Do you have a generator? Losing power in these temps, it's just dangerous.
CRS is can't remember syndrome-- very popular ailment in the old folks' threads.![]()
Uncle, I just remembered-- I am expecting an order from slowtech, and another source for my writing project from Amazon, so I may just have wait a while. What perks would I get if I were to claim refugee status?
Nice for a first doodle!![]()
Hmmm - If such is the case, then I haven't yet earned the right to use the phrase.![]()
Okay NOW - I find this very interesting, I have in the wall air conditioning units that I usually have set on 60 or 65 degrees all day . . Today they have been set at 60 degrees w/ the Fan continuingly running to keep the air flowing and clean (also all the other fans {6} are on too) . . .
Well - I just noticed a little while ago that they both kicked in and are now putting out - HEAT ! ! !
So - I guess the . . . COLD! ! ! . . . has finally hit South Florida . . . ;-)![]()

It was 60.8 when I got up yesterday at 6AM. By noon we had sleet and snow at 1PM. It dropped all afternoon and was down to 28 at about 9PM. This morning it was a "crisp" 4 at 5:30 and now we're up to a balmy 10. The wind has been howling all night and again this morning. We lost power at about midnight last night for about a half hour then again this morning at about 5:30, but that only lasted about ten minutes. I've got 20 gallons of spare gas and a full tank in the generator, just in case, and three spare 20lb propane tanks for the "auxiliary" heater. It's about 70 in her now so the "auxiliary" is still doing the job without any oil being used.
I don't know about it being bear, to me it s*cks! Big time! LOL
Temp is up to 68, but it is about to rain in here. My book is waiting at the PO, I should have gone back.It is -13 here. However, I fooled around with my heater last night, and set it on"eco" mode. That didn't keep up with the cold (60deg), so now, on "hi" it is going to take a long time to catch up, since it was running constantly yesterday. I think I will add some steam heat. That will catch it up.

Good morning peeps - Looks like you guys back East are getting hammered by the weather. That is one cold cold front.
Your pics of the birds and the trees with snow on them were incredible, Raven.
Love those winter photos from you as well, SandySu.
19 overnight here and now up to 36 degrees although I don't think it will get too much warmer today. Threatening us with snow and or rain. I wish - probably won't happen.
Since the weather is calm and I didn't have to put on too many layers of clothing, I got the horses out one at a time and into the round pen. They needed to run off some steam. Little Wiseguy was bucking and kicking. so cute. Nevada ran and ran around the pen and then decided to calm down a little. I have been able to lead him using the stud chain and I think it is good for him to get out of his pen to get some running time. And for us to try to work together. They both got some carrots while standing next to each other by Nevada's pen.
Both of them eventually got worked and we are learning to go different speeds. Wiseguy is doing so good. Nevada is definitely improving.
I think I have a lead on a trainer, which I would love to get some driving lessons. I have to make a phone call later today.
