OMG!!!! He is precious!! No wonder you can't stay away from him. If it were possible, I would have him in the house with me. Do you have anymore horses or is he the only one? Can't get over how DARLING he is!!!! Thanks for posting his pic!

Wiseguy is my very first horse. I only have the one but I am considering getting him a friend to hang out with this spring. There are some rescue mini horses available right now in Grants Pass, Oregon. 177 of the little cuties. But... we are refinancing the house right now and just got the paper work started [there is a government program to help you get a lower interest rate even if your house has more owed on it than it is worth. That would be just about every house in Nevada]. I don't want to spend a dime or put a single item on the credit card until this deal goes through. We are supposedly guaranteed to get the loan refied at the lower interest rate but I do not want to take any chances. I figure, there will be other little horses in the future and these seem to have a lot of people interested in helping them so that is a good thing.

Wiseguy has three goat friends in a pen right next to him and he doesn't seem too lonely.

Being a new horse owner is a little intimidating but we seem to be doing pretty good. Even though he is tiny he is a real horse and has to be treated like a real horse.

I know what you mean about moths destroying wool, but I have a cedar chest to store wool items in that seems to work well. Of course, it's full now, so I'd have to figure out how to store a cape in it. Get rid of stuff I never wear? Horrors!

I am quite fortunate to have great grandpa's handiwork in the living room. A hand made cedar chest. I store my wool hiking pants and wool blankets in it. One of the wool blankets must be 50 years old and is still serviceable. I just put it on my bed for the winter.

Here is my little horsey. He is growing in his winter woolies and starting to look very fuzzy. He is 10, almost 11 years old and he is a gelding. He is 31 1/2" tall at the last hair at the base of his mane.

It was pretty windy out so we didn't try to do anything fancy today

Thanks, JoAnn, for the feedback. I thought of ponchos in the beginning, but I decided that getting it over my head might be more difficult than something that opens down the front. Here's what I imagine as the perfect cape: black wool lined with red or royal blue lining, but the site I mentioned warned that lining stretches differently than the material that the cape is made from, so, do I really need a lining? I wasn't thinking of a hood till I saw those capes on the site, but I guess having one might be useful, and if I didn't want to use it, it could just hang down behind. Then I thought the slits in the sides would be better than having to reach up from underneath it to use my left hand or when my right arm is more useful, using that one, too. I thought of something that closes pretty close to my neck. I saw some with deep V-necks that would mean adding a scarf to warm my front. Yes, I thought of some manner of closing the length of the cape, buttons inside a hidden placket, but a zipper might be a good idea. What about Velcro? Any more input?

Well, the movie was AMAZING,,,,,,,what amazed me the most was how much politics has STAYED THE SAME I recommend the movie if you enjoy history,,,,,,I won't say any more because I don't want to ruin the movie for you,,,,,it's a great movie, not dry at all, and a few things about our history surprised me See it!

Black with royal blue, very elegant. IMHO

On the "Half Moon" website, there is the option of having a cape or poncho custom made. There were choices of fabrics and colors for both the outer and inner lining. Maybe velcro and/or a couple of snaps would be better than a zipper for closing. That may be easier for you right now. Again... my

I would've thought that pulling something over your head would be simpler. A cape would have to close somehow, or else it would just blow away, or you'd have to hang onto it all the time. With a poncho, all you'd have to do is get your head through the hole, and it'll stay put. With a zipper, you'd still need two hands to get it started, and maybe to keep the bottom down while you're pulling up. I have a raincoat that velcro-closes, and the velcro picks up so much lint that you'd have to pick it clean for them to be able to work again. I think the slits would just allow for more cold air to come through. I vote for a hooded poncho - not too flared at the bottom, and long and heavy enough to not blow up like Marilyn's dress...then you can be cool like Clint Eastwood when you ride your horse! I trust everyone is ready for their Thanksgiving Day festivities? While talking to a friend last night, I learned that True happiness is having your house and yard in tip-top shape two days before the in-laws are due.

It's a shame it's a size small. I doubt it would fit me. It looks like what I want, and the price is right. I probably need a size large, medium at least. I'm 5' 5' and weigh 145 at the last doctor's appointment when they weighed me.

Yep, ready for Thanksgiving. I made arrangements to meet the in-laws in town for Thanksgiving dinner. One of the casinos does the best food and it is basically situated half way between us and the in laws. No cleaning the house, no working like a dog to get the food on the table. I will miss the left overs however.

I agree with ya Lizzie leftovers are the best. Which is why I don't like going to others people's houses for turkey day. Nothing like a turkey, stuffing, cranberry, and gravy sandwich.

Sandy, I bet it would fit you. Ponchos are almost circular in their shape. I remember the one I had back in my early 20s was a medium ... and it was huge. I loaned it out to very big guys to wear more than once. Wish I still had it; it was really warm.

Too bad the seller didn't list some specific measurements like the width from seam to seam. You could email her and ask for those.

Hello Volties!

It's a beautiful day here and surprisingly warm. Just came back after running errands and walking Spanky. He loves to run through the leaves and kick them up in the air. With his long hair you would think he was made of velcro. Everything sticks to him. He looked at me so funny because I couldn't stop laughing at him. I had a time pulling leaves, twigs and other surprises out of his coat. I'm still finding some crunched up leaves on the floor throughout the house... and I thought I got all of it off him...

As for leftover turkey, I just have to make a big bowl of turkey salad. Love it with club crackers or on pumpernickel bread.

Today is my Grandfather's birthday, and I would like to honor his day by sharing a story with you.
When I was kid my Grandfather wanted to show me what a miracle life is, so he bred our Fiest (Pokey) and Poodle (Old man). (Can you imagine?)
Pokey was due to have her pups any day but we had to go to my Aunts for Thanksgiving and it was bitter cold,below freezing.So when we returned Pokey met us and she was no longer pregnant. My Grandfather and I found the pups frozen on the porch steps.He took them wrapped them in a blanket,turned the oven on put them in there with the door open and started massaging the pups gently. In a few minutes my Grandfather had brought them back to life.
Still Pokey would have NOTHING to do with them,so Mother calls the vet gets bottles and milk and her and my Grandfather took turns nursing these pups. There were three pups and they all lived.
So while I didn't get to see the miracle of the birth process, I did get to witness an even miracle.
