This was so shocking. Knowing that 20 little children was deliberately killed by that young man has left me feeling devastated. It's really true that your heart can ache. And now the pain has begun for the families and friends of those children and adults who were killed. We need to pray for them and also for the children and teachers who survived, they are going through a special kind of Hell after what they saw and heard and knowing what happened this day.

waking to this news those sweet little angels....my heart bleeds words have no meaning to describe this hell......I came very slow to facing the same fate ..my husband became very mean after the marriage break up im not going to get into details....but I knew if I didn't walk away...I would face this same insane loss.....as these parnets & love ones....i live a different type of hell...my children have grown ive tried to reach them....they were small children at the time....but how do I tell them there father could have killed us all...theres no answers for me...everytime I hear these horror stories my world falls apart...at least I know my children are still alive....may the lord send all his angels....to wrap there wings around these poor familys.....

I'm sorry something like this has brought up bad memories for you, Deb. Be strong - remember that you have done the best you can, we women do the best we can when our husbands are scary. I am pretty certain my ex was capable of killing me. So many years ago but I haven't forgotten. But I have forged on and have a new life. I'm glad you and your kids are still alive and can make a life for yourselves.

You all know me as a somewhat funny excentric old man, but this tragedy brings out my serious side. These children and teachers whose lives were taken this morning are truly in the arms of heaven. My wife and I read "Heaven is Real" by Todd Burpo a pastor whose 4 year old son after surgery ( in which the boy died and was brought back to life) described Heaven in details that only and adult would know. He told his dad that Jesus had "markers" (rember the boy is 4 years old). His dad had no idea what his son was talking about. Finally after more conversations he ask his son where did Jesus have markers and he said on his hands and feet. What color were the markers he ask and the son said red. The boy also said he saw his grandfather who had died many years before. When his dad showed him a picture of his grandfather the boy did not recognize him. Later when visiting his grandmother, he pointed to a picture of his grandfather which was taken when the grandfather was young and told his dad that that was the man he had seen in Heaven. The boy had never seen that picture before. The book had many more examples of what Colton told his dad about Heaven. If you question whether Heaven is Real you need to read this book. Sorry to be so serious, I promise to return to the Happy White Rabbit soon.

I've been following it as well. It's unimaginable that there are some among us who feel it is their right to shatter so many lives for whatever reasons they may have. So much grief for the families and communities, all because of one tragic lost individual. This has truly affected all of us.

I waded through maybe half of it, but it's a bit over my head, and I'm not sure whether to believe what I think I understood. I think only the future will prove this idea right or wrong, and my guess is that aspects of it will prove true, but not the whole idea as it's put forth here. That's just my guess, though. I'm not educated on the subject, so I can only make an uneducated guess, a hunch.

And Friends fighting about gun control,,,,,,,whether it's right or wrong,,,,,,I can't even stand it anymore. I literally had to take a break from some friends today over the fighting.

First of all, let me just suggest a rule for us here. Using the like button can also mean you empathize with the poster, or have compassion for them. So if someone is telling of a painful hardship, your like doesn't mean you like that they are in pain, rather it means you are there with them compassionately.
Now, I don't have a direct answer to your question Raynes, but I did hear someone once describe it like this. Say you were watching someone weave a beautiful blanket, extremely intricate, complex patterns. But all you could see was underneath. So you see loose threads, knots, blotches etc until you get above and can see the whole beautiful thing put together.

My grandmother used to say that God allows evil so that good men and women can foster compassion, love, human service and grief., yes, even grief. Without anything bad happening, we'd never know how to do those things.
