I never wash my cat. Why do you feel it's necessary? I do brush him sometimes when it's shedding season, and I pet him a lot, and he goes out and rolls in the driveway and comes in all dusty, but he licks himself and stays clean that way. At least that was what I was always told. Is Alice a longhair? Do you have to wash them? I thought brushing was good enough. Do you use a special cat shampoo? I'd worry about removing oils from the coat that protect the cat from skin problems.

alice was very sickly looking when she first came to me..her coat and skin...was terriable..at first I wanted her to be a indoor cat...shes very small...but to much water under the bridge...her past owners...never cared for her right...she was left to rome day and night....so shes allowed out a few hours in the daytime..we have many ferral big cats....around here....mainly there here at night...when alice is shut down..sometimes through the day...they sneak in...they are full of worms ....skin mites...my neighbours cat..was getting bad skin mites...terriable lumps...all over her body....the vet told her...seeing she lets her cat rome day and night..would be best to wash her....we have these big drain water tunnels out the front of house...where the ferrals go...alice just loves going in them....so I cant watch her every second ...she goes in white comes out smokey grey...I use products from vets called..dermcare...aloveen...shampoo conditioner..has oatmeal/aloe vera...to protect skin....it has improved alices coat....amazing...plus leaves a lovely natural smell.....

No More Ugly tanks from me.

Found some aluminum tubing in my vast supply of "junk" in my shed and it was the same inside diameter as the 20 ML syringes. Cut off a small piece, removed burrs, added the plugs, carto, juice and now I have a shiney new tank for 10 minutes work. No need to search for a stainless or chrome tank.

If I use a 510 carto the adapter would not be needed and it would sit flush with the Vamo.

I think the problem with fracking, or any other large industrial process like coal mining, forestry and so on, is that it may start out as a good, safe, relatively clean and sound process. Eventually though, since dollar is king, penny pinching starts to take over, practices and procedures go by the wayside and accidents start happening. The same is true of power generation, whether it's coal, gas fired or nuclear. IF the proper procedures and practices are maintained, things can be done safely and with minimal danger, to us and the environment.

You're right, but as you say, it's likely that standards won't be adhered to, and accidents will happen. At the moment, NY State is deciding whether to allow fracking. This area, which is all around Ithaca, is very sensitive to such things. For instance, the citizens decided the water shouldn't be fluoridated, which my dentist thinks is a crime. You should have seen the brouhaha when Walmart wanted to open a store in Ithaca! However, now there's a Walmart in Ithaca, so sometimes the citizens lose. We are right in the midst of a prime fracking area, which is pretty much virgin territory, though there has been some traditional gas drilling here. There are many people in the area who are extremely vehement about not allowing fracking, and if I were in favor of it, I would probably be considered an ignorant, bad citizen. Such is the state of affairs. But I refuse to be intimidated by public opinion and peer pressure, so I really would like an unbiased opinion on the pros and cons. The pros are that natural gas is much cleaner than coal and other sources of energy. But if it's at the expense of the water, is it really cleaner? Cleaner to burn, maybe, but we have to look at what's behind the scenes. Other pros I've heard are the jobs that would become available from the industry, and this area suffers, like most of the country, from an unacceptable unemployment rate. But I've heard that the jobs won't be as plentiful as it seems, since many times, the gas company imports their own trained personnel. The cons are that first and foremost, fracking has been known to pollute water. According to the pro fracking movie, that's because the pipe wasn't properly encased in cement, and there were leaks. So yes, accidents have already happened. We're told that the gas company responsible will make good on the damage, but if your well is polluted, do you have to go through a lengthy and expensive legal process to get the company to settle? And what do you do in the meanwhile? If you have a herd of cows, you can't buy bottled water for them all! Can the gas company even clean up your well? Or will they just give you a lump of money to pay for the damage? Will any pollution affect the wine industry? That's a fear the locals have. That brings in a lot of revenue and attracts tourists. Also, I've heard that the community really will have more expenses, since lots of truck traffic will be using local roads and they will need more repair, not to mention increased traffic and noise. One thing that really bothers me is, if you don't want fracking on your land, but your neighbor does, they can dig into his land, then go horizontally under your land! That doesn't seem right to me! There's a lot about fracking that seems wrong, and these questions have never been answered to my satisfaction by any pro-fracking group.

That makes sense. My cat is gray to start with, so maybe I just don't see what he'd look like if he was white. Still, he roams in fields and hunts mice, and he gets fleas and worms, but I get him dewormed periodically and am using Frontline Plus for fleas and ticks. Like Alice, he needs to roam outside to be happy.

Looks good rabbit! Maybe you found your hobby calling?

I have had so many "successful" hobbies that it would take pages to tell you about all of them. Living on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay all of my life, I fell in love with "Skipjacks" many years ago. The skipjack is a sailing vessel used since the 1800s for dredging oysters by sail. Out of thousands of skipjacks only about 25 still reman, and a few still sail every winter to dredge for oysters "only" under sail.

I always wanted a detailed model of a skipjack, but they are very expensive, so I built one from scratch. It turned out pretty good and I had it in my office for years. During that time many people ask me to build one for them. From 1984 until 2004 I built about 150 skipjack models, many for museums and some for skipjack captains. It is a very tedious process and everything is made by hand from carving the hulls from basswood to sewing the sails from actual sailcloth. It takes about 6 months of work to complete a model. I made many trips to Deal Island Maryland (informal home of the skipjack fleet) to photograph every aspect of the actual vessels, studied the construction and talked with many captains and skipjack builders who now only repair the old vessels. Below is a photo which is typical of the models I built.

sandy did they really get that bull to do that...or am I having another one of my naïve moments...lol

I think the man rode the bull, but the fancy legwork was artificially added. I've seen bulls ridden. One time when I was at a horse show as a kid, some man brought a bull and rode him -- even jumped him -- as a demo during a break at the show.

Wow! I am very, very impressed! And that's just one of many hobbies? Tell us about the others.

Uh Oh .... the venison is still frozen hard as a rock. It looks like it will be breakfast for dinner:( At least Hubby won't mind. He's flexible.
OOH! Memories! Yummo!

You take a deep breath.... LOL! And ORDER SOMETHING!
And darn it I said I wasn't spending money on vape stuff and MFS just sent an email that there is free shipping from now til midnight tomorrow (code is FREESHIP02 if you don't get their emails and you're interested). So I bought some flavors. :p That twisted my arm.
Drat - I missed it by a day ... Oh well ... next time ...

Me to dwsizme, time to get some sleep. I PMd you back Deb, but these time zones are  on a long distance conversation.

I am always trying to stop purchasing more "stuff". This hobby is worse than my kayak or fishing or gardening, and you end up with a lot of vapor.

Good Night All!

You went to PT! How was it? Did you get exercises to do at home? What, besides drugs, are they doing about the tight muscles?

What storm? Is something headed our way? The Midwest always gets the weather we get a few days later, so inquiring minds want to know.

As usual, I'm going to have to take my leave just when things get lively around here. My parting shot for the evening is another waterfall. This is Hector Falls, which you can see right from the road. In fact, it tumbles down under a bridge. This is the upper part, the part above the bridge.

Actually, when I was a young man, I did not have a lot of patience. I did build a lot of model airplanes when I was a teenager, but I like to get things DONE! Building boat models taught me that I could work a little, stop and do other things, and then come back again and work some more a little at a time until things were finished. On occasion I would be working on 10 skipjack models at a time. Normally it would take 6 months to complete one, or I could work on 5 or 10 and complete all of them in 6 months depending on how much time I worked in my little workshop. It was one of those hobbies that could have turned into a full time occupation, however considering the cost of the materials and the time, I would have only been making about $2.00 per hour. Somewhere I have a video that the local TV station aired about my little shop. I think it is on a VCR tape and I was 20 years younger. I built a few computers for folks who wanted a very powerful machine, but again you never get paid a lot for your time. Between, fishing, kayaking, snow sking, gardening, rebuilding antique cars, a little hunting, building some furniture, computers and other assorted small electronics, I consider myself a jack of all trades and master of very few. My grandfather and my father always had a "shop", very organized but NEVER clean and neat. Mine is the same way. Wonderful Junk everywhere, but I know exactly where everything is. I always wanted a small 5 acre farm, but alas my wife is a true "sububan housewife". Great cook, lovely lady, but not a farm wife. That is why I enjoy all of your horse and farm adventures.

Well, that is way toooooo much information. Please everyone chime in and let us all know your little life experiences. I bet Awsum has a lot of tales to tell.

you become more interesting everyday...I envy folks who can work with there hands....I was such a wild child in my youth....so full of rebellion....married way to young...got caught up....in so much crap.....yes if there was a second bite of cherry to be had....I have so many ideas....now....but alas......when your hands go bad....there are limits....on what you can do....but theres far worse things that could have happened to me....I just have to learn...what use to take a few minutes...now can take a hour....that's life....just have to deal with it...
