Remember a while ago I mentioned that Vitor Silva and his Lusitano stallions were coming to Ithaca? Our dressage club put on the event, and this evening, I went and helped out and watched. I took some pictures, though the light in the indoor ring was poor. But a few turned out OK, so I'll share.

This is a levade, and it takes a lot of muscular strength and balance for a horse to do it. It's not just rearing up, since the horse's joints are more flexed, and he balances like that for a short time. They said this horse is older, 22, and he's still able to do this.

They performed a quadrille, where the riders coordinate and ride in formation. It looks easier than it is.

Those horses are so pretty!!!!!

HOpe everyone is having a lovely spring day. I think it is supposed to be windy here but so far it isn't and it is in the sixties. I am resting up today but.... I did give the goat hut a quick rake, hauled off the wheel barrow of old straw and gave them new clean straw. It is supposed to go to 34 degrees tomorrow night but I will be gone all day so I best get them set up today.

I am transplanting the strawberries today. That's it. Other than cooking dinner, I am done

Lizzie, as usual, a slow day for you sounds like a busy one if it were mine. I really admire your energy.

It's windy here today, and I decided to stay home and putter around. Maybe some housecleaning. Nothing as ambitious as your day!

Slow day here as well. I got in a good nap this morning. It's 65 outside and breezy, but everything can wait until tomorrow, there's a ball game on!

Isn't that amazing how they recognized one another and enjoyed each other so much. ?!

The wind is ripping but I am please to say that our windbreak, whilst still having a long way to go to be mature, is having a calming effect on the winds. We are really looking forwards to the landscaping maturing when the wind break will be much more effective. Hubby was at the neighbor house across the street and he said the wind was incredibly bad over there.

I'm not surprised that the horses knew each other after years apart. Horses have incredibly long memories, and I'm sure people and other animals are included in that indelible memory, just like training is.

The high wind today has now calmed. It's still and warm. The people next door are sitting out back by a bonfire.

I've got to go see Penny. I should have gone today. Maybe tomorrow. But then there's the library, too. Maybe both in one day? Lend me some of your get-up-and-go, Lizzie? Oh, yes, and sometime soon, I should take my cat to the vet for his spring shots.

Yes, prices just rise, never fall, it seems. I'm lucky that my vet has been my pets' vet for years. He's a small animal vet. I have a different vet for the horse, and then there's the equine dentist, different from the equine vet. But for now, I've got to think about the cat, then the horse. When the equine vet comes, I coordinate the visit with the barn owner so we can share the call fee. There's a charge just for traveling to the barn that the cat doesn't have, since I take him to the vet.

I'm going to sign off for the night. It's been really slow today. I guess everyone's out enjoying spring, so I'll post another spring picture. This is a redbud, which blooms here in late May or early June. The way things are going, though, with these winds lately making it feel like March, I think spring might be late this year.

I have to clean 1 1/2 houses and then go to Carson City to get my eyes checked and find some new glasses. I'm meeting Hubby who is also getting his eyes checked and getting new glasses. Long day for me.

Good morning Volties. We are having gorgeous weather here! Today is expected to reach 80!! Yay!!!

I heard from Tail... She's still cleaning up the mess, had window bars and a security system installed, locks changed on the house, garage and the Harley. They stole her extra sets of keys. Her neighbors saw the burglars and NO ONE called the police. One neighbor went as far as following the vehicle but didn't get the license plate number. Why bother if they didn't call the police at that time!

She will return to Voltville when she can but wants you all to know that she appreciates all of your concern and support during this very stressful time.

As for me... I'm feeling better now and will have my doctor's visit tomorrow to get the report.

I lived through a breakin a while ago and it takes a while to get over it... that feeling of violation runs deep.
