Clay - I could KISS you (but my hubs and your wife may not approve!) Friday's check engine light was due to them damaging the grounding pin on the o2 sensor when they replaced the engine mounts. So it could be possible that the o2 sensor is to blame? They didn't replace the sensor - they just "fixed the pin" (that's what he told me) The code tells them to replace the charcoal filter and cvs valve because "there is a leak" - not that they've verified it - but that's what the code says to do.
The service manager is out until Thursday - DH & I have been googling for info - it's crap that they did something and want to charge me $370 to fix it. The service guy actually told me this happens due to age - umm, yeah I get that, but 2 check engine lights in 2 days...not a coincidence when they occur 24 and 48 hours after major servicing. And they wonder why I stopped taking it to them to begin with.

DH did tell me he was wrong and I was right today though ;-) I wanted to take it to our normal mechanic - he wanted to take it to Honda since they would know more about their transmissions - yeah *snort* the transmission they told me to avoid driving 35 mph if I wanted the shudder to stop. arses.

The code from Friday was for a loose ground pin at o2 sensor (didn't give me the actual code)
The code today (I drove it home Friday and didn't drive again until this morning) was 2705 off, 2693, p1457

Sorry, got tied up in a meeting this morning on Supportability Strategy and couldn't hit this back as quick as I wanted. If I recall, 1456-7 is an emissions code. I can't remember, but one is fuel cap and the other is EVAP. I don't even recognize the 2000 series, didn't think they went up that high, but I could be wrong. Typically, O2 sensors will just report as a failure, as either Bank 1 or Bank 2 (before and after catalytic converter). It's an easy fix, they have a wiring harness that's disconnected and a deep well socket to remove from the cat. After install, the battery should be hooked back up (should be disconnected prior to removal), allow BIT (built in test) to pass/fail, check codes again. Sometimes, it can take a day or more for a BIT to fully fail, but not always. Sometimes, a fault can resolve itself over time as well. For example, you don't close your gas cap, your check engine light goes on. You stop, get out, tighten cap and drive. Twenty minutes later the light may go off, it may not until next engine restart. That 20 minutes takes time for the system to close the loop and retest, but it may not reset until next restart. Each brand is slightly different in how their BIT/FI tests work. Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent. I could be wrong, but the harness for an O2 sensor on a Honda is a small 4-6 pin harness. Not sure how a pin could get bent unless it was installed/remove incorrectly, or if they used the wrong part. Here's where it gets tricky. While you can use a universal O2 sensor, but splice off the old connector mating harness, it's not recommended. A lot of the universal sensors, while having the appropriate tolerance, aren't exactly the OEM's spec/standard. This means you may burn too hot, not have enough air, not the right fuel mixture. Do you have a strong gas odor/smell from under the hood or near the tank? This could be indicative of faulty mix ratio (O2) or a bad EVAP system. However, O2 is more likely the culprit. They typically don't last super long and are pretty easy/cheap to replace.

WOW lox thats wonderful!! I have had BR on a 1000-1400 calorie diet for over a year and although he lost alot of weight in the begning, he has gained it all back, starves all the time, whines at me and is starting to cheat really bad. I cant keep doing this- the misery of never eating, him, me or the kids is killing us- he gets mad because all I ever make him is fish or chicken, but I cant keep his calorie count down with anything BUT that- I used to cook food for him, and a seperate meal for us, but that didnt work, he would eat his, adn then snack on what was left from ours. I cant bring anything into the house- I feel like the food nazi- and I refuse to correct him, or nag him. he is almost 40. then he gets mad because i dont tell him no.

we went to a Dr who told us "just keep doing it" yeah- well when he doesnt loose anything in 4 months, but is starving to death, he pretty much just gives up. 'doing it' doesnt work.

I have lost so much weight that I look like a walking skeleton- for one, I HATE turkey anything- and fish anything- for two- I feel bad about eating anything he cant. and for 3- I get tired of cooking 7-8 differnt meals a day for everyone.

Since I started vaping, I have gained about 7 or so pounds. which I am happy about- but he did too.

How is he eating now and in what frequency? He could graze all day on food and that may be what his body needs. The thing about dietary analysis is that there isn't a "one size fits all" approach. There are generalities that are applicable to all, but implementing a system that is tailored to that individual (lifestyle and goals) is what is key. If he's hungry all the time, that could be indicative of a couple of things, but without knowing specifics it's hard to determine the corrective action to apply (appetite suppressant may be viable). Some people go about dieting by reducing their meal frequency, i.e. one or two meals a day. This has the same result as reducing caloric intake below 1000. Since the body gets infrequent feedings (intake), it is more likely to store what it does get since it knows it will only get limited intake periods. If the body gets low caloric intake, it knows it's only getting limited intake potential and must store that intake. Combine the two and it's a recipe for dietary disaster. It may work in the short term, but long term the body will not adjust properly. That's why you see so much "yo yo" in "dieting". I would encourage him to eat all day, all the time. However, encourage the correct foods. Vegetables, fruits, etc. Stay away from processed items (chips, etc). Barring any impact from that effort over time, there might be a processing imbalance that might only be addressed through medication.

1000 calories isn't enough for anyone~!! The body will start to store everything!

Correct, anything 1000 calories and under a day is not healthy and the body will start to make fat stores to keep energy in reserve because it's not getting a regular intake or a sufficient intake to handle the output (activity).

I started with 1600-1800 calories-

breakfast (turkey bacon, egg)
mid morning snack (fruit, jello)
lunch (salad with meat)
afternoon snack (cheese sticks)
dinner ( used to be a turkey burger or turkey spagetti or some such now its baked meat, stirfry or such veggie)
dessert (ricotta cheese with extract and sweet and low)

we switched to the south beach diet, its not really working, he hates most of the food on it. and I know that when he hit the plataeu at 265 adn I cut his calories back another 200 that I hurt him and made his body start to store more fat.

the southbeach worked a little- then stopped working again.

for over a year he didnt get anything 'good' nothing fun, none of our southern comfort food, nothing. we are talking salads, broiled meat, not even many fruits because of the calorie count- etc.

heck, I fiqured that after months of starving him his body WOULD start feeding off itself- but nope- apparently he gets his calories from breathing!!

also, changing up the game a little sometimes helps....1400 one day, 2000 the next, 1200 the day after that, etc. This will keep the body from 'getting used' to the diet and plateauing. It's more about the overall average. If an issue is portion size then try using foods higher in fiber that would be more filling. Whole wheat pasta, beans are really filling to me, and easy to 'hide' lots of veggies in recipes.

Sall, do you have Skype? We could do the cleaning of the carto that way so you can see...or you know, you can leave it on your PV, rock it off the bottom of it's connector to get the clear tube off, take if off the PV, un-roll the filler, rinse that out under hot water, squeeze the water out, then use a paper towel to press the rest of the water out getting it completely dry...that part is done. Then rinse the coil wraps under hot water, I don't take them off, I just leave them there but open them up...you'll be risning the coils as well while doing this, scrape off any juice that's been burninshed into the coild wraps, use paper towle pressing to dry coil wraps, wrap them back around coils, wrap filler back around everything, put tube on, fill, vape. :)

I think I can handle that on my own but Skype might still be fun! I don't have the time to get on skype now, and I'll be in Cape Cod at a friends wedding festivities for the next week. So I'll probably clean it before then... But I think when I get back we should still Skype with Livi and Evan =p

PS, we'll be in CT today and all day tomorrow. lol. GET IN THE CAR :p

I've lost about 10-15lbs since January 1st. Now mind you, I know I don't have a lot to lose, I just wanted to slim some and now I work on toning up. I don't follow any diet, what I have done is just a few things. #1 is I don't eat out, I used to eat out almost every day.
#2 is cutting my milk to 1% and from sugar to sweetener anywhere I can do it, I drink a LOT of coffee so I'm sure this alone has helped.
#3 is whenever I buy anything I check the fat/calorie content. If it's over 10% fat then forget it. Mind you it doesn't work for everyone but just doing this has helped a LOT.

My biggest thing to stop me snacking??? Every Sunday is my eat whatever the heck I want to! I go to Pizza Inn, I eat southern cooking with my in laws etc. I eat what I want but only on Sundays. The rest of the week I watch what I eat. I am a major junk food addict but having that one day doesn't make me feel like I'm missing out all the time and stops me wanting to eat everything bad during the week.

I don't follow my calories anymore but I went shopping the other day. From a size 8 pushing a 10 to a lose fitting 6 in pants and a comfortable small in tops, I am beyond happy :) Now to start working on that 6 pack!! :p

GC: I like the idea of not allowing anything with more than 10% fat in the house.

I love when I can get fresh fruits and veggies that have taste - winter veggies and fruits taste blah. I'm just so frustrated that i can't get any really exercise right now - but since bending over is still a no no, I'm trying to walk when my hip allows it and I've been sucking down water and chewing gum.

Clay - thanks! I email DH your response. It confirmed what he thought he was gleaning from google and will help when he talks to the service peeps.
