I am so proud of him! This is a kid that his teacher last year wrote off. He scored high enough TWICE over to get in. He doesn't usually test well, so I'm really excited for him.

probably why he had problems last year! Too bright to be entertained by the teacher. they tend to check out because it all seems like a waste of time. So neat to see them given the opportunity to bloom!

I did the same thing. I was years ahead of even the GT kids. I "checked off the net" whenever they got into something that I already knew about. Even the brain puzzles and problem solving stuff was too easy for me. The problem is, you don't develop a good work ethic and eventually, everyone else catches up (to a degree). While they have a solid work ethic, intelligence can't overcome hard work unless some work is applied with the intelligence.
