My best friend is 21 and has never gotten a period. when she was 18 she had a check up because of it, and they found she was born without eggs and with part of a Y chromosome missing. She's all messed up, poor girl. And, she can't have kids. If you ever wanna talk about it you can always give me a shout. I've had a ton of those conversations, I've been her best friend for 11 years now, so I watched her go through it all, was there the day she found out. We learned how to cope together. She thinks she'll probably adopt, too. Although I feel for both of you, it is both expensive and difficult. I'd honestly rather go through labor than adoption hoops. I really wish you the best of luck. He/She will be one lucky kid!

Eh, I dealt with the inability a long, long time ago. Like I said, my genes pretty much suck and indicate that yes, I will one day die. I know, it's surprising to me too!

I think we're going for an older kiddo (toddler to about age 6) so the hoops aren't quite as bad. Haven't decided yet if we're staying in the states or going internationally. International is a lot more expensive but you don't have the possibility of a parent reclaiming a kid either. It's cheaper if you stay in the US, especially if you don't have to have an infant. And, well, to be honest, infants scare the crap out of me anyhow. I always wanted to send any baby off to my folks for a couple years and then take them back. So, the older kid works out well for us.

I had a half brother once who my mom decided she didn't want anymore.. I loved him, but I was 14. Anyway he was 2 years and she let me pick the couple. So I picked a gay couple, because they have it pretty damn hard, I'd think. He's a happy kid now.. Much happier than he would have been in my family >.<

The first place to go would be an orphanage. While it's possible for a parent to try and claim the child back, it happens less than you would think, and in the situations I've heard of it happening, the adoptive parents usually win. Although it is a pain in the .....
