lox : no worries! Just "sounded" like there was a story behind it. Once upon a time I made "warm" calls for a couple of financial serivces reps (aka stock brokers). I called people who had been referred to our reps by the associated bank's tellers or customer service reps and my reps were always amazed about the amount of info I'd get in the calls. When cd's were due, where else they banked, new grandbaby, selling the house etc. - it was because I asked.
Plus in this instance I think it's a little creepy that I can browse 800 pages of discussion and find out a lot of about those poting here - while you all would know nothing about me - so I feel it's only honest to admit I've been reading - but only for 2-3 days!
I was afraid to jump into the conversation and then decided what the heck!

This is the one I raised. Such a sweetie! :)

TuckerSleepMomma

He is so cute! I give you a lot of credit for taking the time to raise him. Sometimes they need some help and I think it takes a special person to offer it. What happened to his mama? I am assuming Tucker is a "him" due to the name.

Awsome pics BiancaMontgomery- I even saw the one with the squirrel sleeping in your lap.My mom had a wild squirrel named nikie when I was growing but we never were able to tame her that good. We could only watch her from a distance...

Well, thank you lady! :) That poor squirrel was in my fireplace...no fire, thank God! The chimney sweep was going to kill the poor little guy and I lost my mind on him! I bottle fed him and raised him like he was my own baby. :) I did a soft release with him, letting him outside starting at about 3 months old and letting him back in at night to sleep in his 3 story cage in his little bed. At 7 months, he decided he didn't need a Momma anymore. :( I loved raising him, and I hope to raise another one sometime...maybe when Livi is old enough to help and enjoy the experience with me. (also, you should have mail from me soon, be on the look out! :) )

It was truly my pleasure to raise him, he was so sweet and funny! I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :) His Momma had him and another baby in my fireplace and the other baby passed away (which is why I called the chimney sweep who tried to kill Tucker when he found him, I didn't know what the smell was or that another animal was in there) :(, and she had another baby in a nest in the big tree in my front yard. She took very good care of her other baby...I hope she didn't miss the other two very much. I was so worried about that. But the asswipe that got Tucker out of my chimney threw him off the roof trying to kill him and I freakin' saw him do it! I lost my mind on that dude. Tucker was bleeding through the nose and I was sure he wouldn't make it...he was in shock...but I kept him warm and offered him puppy formula in a small animal "baby" bottle. Obviously he began eating and in a few days he was thriving again. :)

DH refers to squirrels as long tailed rats. He grew up on a farm and the squirrels were as bad as mice and rats around the feed corn. I personally think they are cute and while I've battled the smart little sob's over my bird feeders I admit to being entertained and having bought food just for them (shh don't tell the Hubs!)

WOW, I would have been extremely irate myself. I guess I would be banned if I typed the words I am calling that guy. I just don't get that type of cruel behavior and think it is inexcusable. We had a guy trim some trees for us last year and one of them had a nest in it. I told him to stay away from it as I didn't want the squirrel hurt. He went on to say it was no big deal to him if he hurt it and then thought it was funny to keep saying he might have to get real close to the nest and have to protect himself. He thought he was being funny. I finally told him I would shoot him if he did. LOL.

Oh! This buttmunch tried to tell me that it was mandatory for them to "dispose of" vermin if they were found while on the job site...and I tore him a new one about how throwing a defenseless baby animal off a roof was cruel and disgusting and that if he knew what was good for him he'd get the eff off my property before I disposed of HIM! Oh, and you go girl! LOL

Squirrels are such funny critters. Yes they can be annoying at times because they are so smart but they are also so much fun to watch. Vchick don't read. I feed mine. Some will come eat out of my hand and are very gentle. But yeah, I have had my battles with trying to keep them away from certain things.

I have to tell you one of the funny ones. I have some suet cake hangers on our clothes line and they kept disappearing really fast. One day I look out and here is this squirrel literally going paw over paw, upside down along the clothesline to get to the suet. I laughed my .... off.
