Congrats Lox and Jazz. Dh and I will have been married for 11 years on Dec. 31st. There's no way for him to forget the date that way. And since we got married in 2000, it's easy to know how many years it's been. :thumb: Oh, and we always have a sitter on New Year's 'cause no ones gonna say no to watching the kids on your anniversary.

MmmmmMMm saran wrap dress.... no wait, mmMmmm Fried Green Tomatoes... whichever works for me. ;)

That theory earlier that I wrote down, seems to be applicable. I'm going to laminate it and put it in my wallet :)

Hey Clay, got the batt...reads 3.4v on my mod...I'm starting to think it's my mod. :( But it's regulated to 5v w/ stacked batts, why would it do this w/ 3.7's? Just don't get it. :(

Because it has a set step down. Meaning, regardless of the input voltage, it will take it down a set amount. For example. I put a .7 volt step down in a circuit. If the input voltage is 4.8 (a 4 cell Nickel chemistry pack), the output voltage post step down would be input voltage minus the .7. A fully charged 4 cell NiMH or NiCD should be in the 5.3 range, if it's stepped down, it will be 4.6. As the battery gets lower, the output voltage will decrease accordingly. If the input voltage were 7.4 (a 2S Lithium chemistry), the output (post step down) would be .7 less the input. A regulator is different than a step down though. A regulator will set the voltage to a particular output regardless of input (providing that it's a higher input voltage). The efficiency of a regulator will determine how well it does this (heat burn off, etc) and how high the input voltage can be.

What mod is it? Knowing more about the mod might help me figure out what kind of regulator or step down is in it.

What 2 cells were in there before? Need this to determine what the initial input voltage was, based on a series stack.

I've used both regulators and step downs in my other hobby before, there's a difference between both, but they both have applicability depending on what is trying to be accomplished.

It's a GoldDigger from Aceofvapes. It's a regulated 5v mod, and I have another 5v that will take a 14500 and vape at 4.2v fresh off charge and then drop to 3.7v as they do and vape the life of batt, so I'm still not quite sure I get this .

The Golddigger takes two 18350's for the regulated 5v option.

18350's are like CR123s?

I think I see the problem though, but I'm not familiar with the mod. An 18650 is a 3.7v (nominal, 4.2v full) and in order to get to 5v, it would require a voltage increaser. Most regulated mods take a higher input voltage and reduce it down (linear). The only one "I" know of that takes a lower voltage and increases it, is the ProVari. The GoldDigger may have a step up in it, but I don't know.... I am assuming that if you stick a 18650 in there, it won't up step to 5v, but just be like a normal 3.7v vape.

Unless of course they do have an actual switching regulator, then I would guess the regulator itself in the mod is bad (or amplifier).

The funny thing is I hand picked that one for performance too. It consistently came off the charger at 4.17, I tested it like 3 times to make sure I wasn't giving you a bum one. The two I kept, that didn't get sent were testing at 4.16 and 4.14.

Got a multimeter?

I have one of those little screw on your device meters that digitally displays the voltage. It's working fine as I put it on my Provari and set that at different voltages and tested it, all voltage settings matched. Well, this just mean that I have to buy a new mod, dang it. :p But I'll get your battery back to you Clay, thank you so much for sending it. :) I'll PM you if I deleted your address.

I finally found a vape I could taste- Unfortunatly, I found I dont like cheesecake- or maybe I just dont like THAT cheesecake- cause I actually LOVE cheesecake- so I got rid of that, (gotta clean that new clearomizer now......) and put in carmel apple- guess what? ahhhhhh if you said "vaping nirvana" you are WRONG- nothing- not a thing... LOL- I almost feel guilty vaping the good stuff- Not sure that being able to taste the ones that make me gag is good or not...

Do they all show the right voltage in the ProVari (assuming they all go in or have the cap)?
