Ok here's a before pic - years of nasty coal dirt and trucks make a mess even a pressure washer won't clean

Here's just now. Quite a difference (grey) paint makes :)

Wow - amazing how a change in color can really change the look! I love the sage green with white windows!

We need a new front door and frame. It has 1 side light - no idea why they did 1 and not 2 - it looks unbalanced. lol The frame is rotting.

So we've been slowing door shopping. I think I want a window of some kind - but the door faces due south and in the summer, it would allow a ton of brutally hot sun in - the area over the door has a big arch with a 7 ft window (even with the 2nd floor) - so i know how much heat it lets in lol. We have a tower fan up on the ledge to help move the air so it doesn't get trapped in the upstairs landing area and creep into the bedrooms.

Every once in a while we ask ourselves...why did we want to own a house?

The next actual home "repair" remodel is actually going to be the boys' bathroom. We have the floor already because we had left over from the basement but need a new light fixture (contractor grade hasn't handle humidity well) and the wood trim needs to be replaced (too much pee and water - boys {[shudder}})

DH wants to replace the vanity. I don't. There is nothing wrong with it. Maybe restain it.

My inlaws all got hammered last week in the storms. SIl got off the easiest with 4 trees down - not on the house! and no power for 2 days.

MIL and BIL#1 got power back last night (6 days) and MIL is missing 1.3 of her shingles and her barn was shifted off the foundation. Looks like insurance may pay to bring it down - there was quite rejoicing by 3 of her 4 kids over that one! It needed a lot of work and the wold life were taking it over. (nasty!)

BIL#2 got his power back this afternoon (day 7) - he also didn't' have water because he's on a well.

They've been dealing with temps in the high 90's and low 100's.

Good morning everyone :)
It's Friday

Dark check out the door glass with built in sun shades. They're pretty neat. There's also reflective coatings that will block heat.
As for quality doors look at Jeld Wen. Very well built. Stay away from Harvey. They look good but in my experience they've been nothing but trouble.
Shame your not closer - I'd install it for you.

So the Jazz list continues to grow. The man cave is doomed to extinction.
Next is new windows, replacing a section of sidewalk, laminate floors, and tearing out my dark wood paneling.
That's just for now - an added powder room is in the near future too.

But then there's the boots so it all evens out :p

You have to love small towns. They repainted the yellow curbs - I always park my car or van on the corner halfway over the yellow line. they stopped the new paint at my back bumper so I'm not parked illegally anymore ;)

It's cool that you put so much effort into it. Our new window unit is braced with a 2x4.

Eight years ago, I installed a window AC in my 2nd floor bedroom in a rental with 4 screws and a prayer. I rationalized it by knowing if it fell out the only thing that would get hurt was a camellia bush.
