I just tried boiling my atomizers and they are drying now. How long should I have boiled them? how long will they take to dry?
Put household towel around steel wool and blow through the battery end and repeat till you get most of the water out. Then perhaps let it dry for a while like Magarnagle said. I abuse mine without liquid..

guess no one likes my chardonay idea...just watch, next juice will be chardonay...lol

Kimmie, we are all just totally mortified that you would have a glass of "old Chardonay" sitting around. Who the heck leaves wine in a glass??? 8-o

And you're most welcome Misty. Hope it worked for you. Let us know how it's going!

Well CalPilot said he threw his in boiling water....but he never said how it went. I soaked 2 of mine in vinegar for a while, then let them sit in hot water, blew them out and set them up to dry. The first one I tried seemed really "dry" (for lack of a better term) and hard to draw. Make sure you put more juice on them after the washing. I did that and mine finally came around.

The second one I just blew on the battery end and it didn't seem as hard to draw as the first one. I don't know if they even really needed to be cleaned....blowing on them might have worked by itself. I would have tried that first if I had known about it.

I have two puresmoker.com 901 atomisers. I noticed one atomizer was hard to draw and gave wimpy smoke. figured it was just my first atomizer ****ting out on me in two weeks.
First i used my mouth to blow the juice out of the atomizer, then i placed it battery end up cartridge end down in a shotglass with a piece of paper towel in the shotglass, underneath the atomizer.
I then used a syringe to inject about .5ml of 91% isopropyl alcohol into the battery hole.
I let this sit for a few days while i smoked the other atomizer. After i'd let it drain completely and blew through it a couple of times, it doesn't taste like alcohol and it works like a brand new 901 atomizer.

The new atomizer has now gotten a little wimpy and i've done the same thing. I'll report back when i switch atomizers again.

But basically isopropyl alcohol works so long as you let it drain for a day or two while you use your other atomizer. Isopropyl will evaporate completely and leave no residue as i imagine other type of alcohol might. It tastes terrible if you don't let it evaporate though. Make sure it doesn't smell at all like alcohol from the cartridge end before you use it.

Again, i'll update in a few days when i try this other atomizer. I don't think there is any way alcohol can possibly break it as there is no heat or evaporated residue involved, although use caution because some atomizers might get their paint stripped by iso alcohol (afaik the dse901b will not lose paint if it touches isopropyl, others might).

I haven't tried boiling but i can't imagine it works better or is safer than this.

Kate,

Sorry about the paint-job on your atomizer. I think i remember reading somewhere that isopropyl stripped one of your janty classic atomizers.
That really sucks, and it sucks doubly so because i am quickly finding that this isopropyl method actually works.

I have two dse 901b atomizers. I'm now on about... oh say 2 weeks on these atomizers. They were getting pretty wimpy and honestly i would have probably tossed them if i hadn't cleaned them with isopropyl.
One of them also had a burnt taste to it from running it too dry right out of the box (maybe hitting it a little aggressively, too). I've cleaned both with isopropyl in the last 5 days and both basically came right back to life like a new atomizer. There's no burned taste and the draw is super easy.

You could try taping the painted parts with electrical tape, kate. Just run all the way around the thing taping really tight, then place some paper towel in a shot glass. Now stick the atomizer in so all the taped part is covered (the paper towel is thick so you can really wedge it in there), and use a syringe to inject some isopropyl into the battery end hole of the atomizer. It should run through the atomizer and get absorbed by the paper towel, never touching the paint.

Anyways it, works so far. I'll keep updating to this thread. I only remembered to post because my atomizer started going sideways today, so i took one out of the shotglass that i'd been cleaning it in, popped the old one in with some isopropyl, and the one i've just cleaned smokes like new... again.

Now i am concentrating on getting a better battery. Gonna have to build one of them magnum things.
Damn, awesome vapor out of this thing.

Well i have been vaping for a little over 2 weeks now and just today switched to the new atomizer....wow what a difference. I didnt realized that over time the atomizer can become so harsh. I have been using an air duster thingy to blow out the left over juice and sitting it upside down over night but still nothing like a new one....maybe the alcohol cleaning would do the trick....Zach when you say it smokes like new do you mean the harshness is gone...anyone know what i am talking about??

It depends on what you mean by harshness. IMO the newly cleaned atomizers are more harsh than the ones i've been using for a few days, because they are cleaner and give more vapor (more vapor and more nicotine=better throat hit or more "harsh").

If what you mean by harshness is that plasticy/metallic taste you get when you run the cart dry, then yeah it completely eliminates this as far as i can tell. Like i said, i had one atomizer that tastes like burned cartridge, and that taste is now gone.

Use a small piece of paper towel and some isopropyl to see if your atomizers paint will run because of it. Take necessary precaution (taping etc) if this is the case.

Also you must let the atomizer sit and drain for, probably, at least a day. Don't start sucking on it if it still has isopropyl in it. It will taste awful and you will come in this thread and be all like "ew isopropyl makes my atomizer taste poopy".

Probably gonna start cleaning them like this every day. I'm sure they will crap out eventually from the wick getting all charred but for the time being this is working quite well.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here, but I was having more n' more problems with my atomizers (seemed to happen all at once with 3-4 of 'em); I wash them every couple weeks, drain regularly... I use liquid but don't drip in the atomizer or top off my carts...

Anyway--last night I took all 6 of my batteries (I only use the classic Penstyle) and stood them upside down in a small juice glass lined with a Kleenex--got up this morning and the bottom of that Kleenex had a quarter-sized stain of e-juice!

Today all 3 of the carts I had problems with work just fine.

So besides draining atomizers, I'll be draining my batteries overnight too.

I only boil now. I put some water on the stove, let it come to a boil then soak the atomizers in the boiling water for 10 minutes. NO LONGER. Dry them well. Stick some paper towel in the cart end and blow into the battery end to get some extra water out. You will be surprised how much more comes out. Let them dry over night. They work like new. 15-20 seconds is not long enough.

Hi all, don't know why it took me so long to try this. A standard method to clean gunk from pipes is to use a product called Everclear. It is 190 proof grain alcohol without any flavoring. It is meant to be a mixer to make fruit punch, etc. & can't be consumed by itself without getting falling down drunk in 2 mins. LOL. I placed a poorly vaping atomize in a small container & covered it with Everclear. After an hour I removed it & simply blew a few times through the battery end. It evaporates so quickly it was totally dry in less than 30 seconds & ready to use. It now works like it was brand new. This eliminates the draining & drying time needed after a vinegar treatment & seems to work much better. The black finish was not affected at all. I don't know if this product is available across the pond. I have been told it is not even legal to buy in all states. Hope this helps revive some dying units.

Do you keep the water boiling or do you get it boiling then shut the heat off ??

One of my atomizers is not performing as good as the other. It is the one i have used since i started esmoking 3 days agao. Figured if i'm new at this i may as welll practise on just one atomizer instead of ruining both.

I will be ordering another atomizer or two soon but if i can revive this one back to it;s new condition that's gotta be worth trying.
