I'm sorry, I want to rant about clones. Note to China: PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO CONTROL CLONES.

Everything is being cloned these days, even clones are being cloned. I mean it's bad enough that Chinese factories are making copies of well engineered hardware, but even Chinese invented hardware is being copied.

For example, I just bought a uwell Crown RTA, cost $23, but I had to weed through clones that cost under $20. I mean doesn't anyone care in China? The clones are probably being made in a factory just down the block.

I get clones help the regular guy afford a well engineered products, and I have bought clones too, but please try and buy the real thing whenever possible. This is the only way to curb cloning it seems. Also stick to your local vape shop or online (in-country). fasttech should be your last option.

Sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just care about the people behind authentic products, even if it's Chinese authentic.

Vape on

Why don't you just stop shopping at places that sell them?

Let's stay on topic.
We are discussing e cig industry clones.

I can't educate you on China's economic rules in one post, but there are a ton of reasons Chinese goods are cheaper.
The economy isn't like it is here I the west.
They don't have to cut corners.
The government subsidizes factories and even shipping.
They don't use inferior materials to make mods.
That's ridiculous. Brass, stainless and copper isnt graded like that, nor is is cost prohibitive.
Most of the US copper comes from China.

Don't spread rumors you hear on the internets.

I look at the China manufacturing in general, based on my own experiences. I guess I did go off topic and should have just stuck to the e cig industry. Maybe they are headed in the right direction when it comes to e cigs.

As a designer, I still do believe in intellectual property rights and in some cases I may even fight for it.

I do however take a little offense to your spreading rumors comment as I have not done that. I am talking from my own experiences. Aside from booking flights and banking and ECF, I am not really an internet junkie. I don't even have a Facebook account.

Don't take the internet personally.
;)
The "China uses inferior materials" is an internet myth, spread by people who have no idea about the costs of the common metals used to make mods, or how a business actually works.

None of these mech modders can get a utility patent on any of these devices because by design, it's a flashlight.

The best they can do is register their logo and name.

None of the current modders invented anything, they just copied and modified existing designs.

That's why we call them mods.
"Modified flashlight".

If someone has a product that can be cloned and retailed for 1/10th the price of the authentic, who exactly is ripping who off?

How business actually works apparently depends if you're in the clone business or not, paying for research and development or not, paying for advertising and brand awareness or not ... etc et al. But that's none of my business.

Explain actual research and deployment costs on a mechanical mod.
I'll wait.

... so do most clone opportunists. Correct me if I'm wrong but mechanical mods aren't the only cloned or copied vape hardware though certainly they are cloned/copied and this thread isn't strictly about cloned mechanical mods.

The regulated mods that are cloned are primarily Chinese originals.

Still waiting on the imaginary
R&D cost breakdown of a $200 authentic mechanical.

<<< Got into vaping and off cigarettes without buying, investing in, supporting, breaking, repairing, using, lusting for, defending, one single solitary clone and most assuredly never will. But hey, if clone is your thing

That's great. That's your choice.
Just don't try to justify your choices with false information, and don't bash others for seeking performance at a realistic price.
