100$ velocity or 8$ clone... hmm let me not think about that. Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.. if authentic wasn't overpriced there would be no market for clones.
Who determined that the original was overpriced? WE did.
One company spends the time, effort and money to develop a product, puts it on the market at a cost that will recoup their investment and be profitable. Five companies copy the product and sell at much lower cost without all the front-end expense. Originating company loses sales to the copiers.
Where's the incentive then to innovate and make better products? Not with the cloners.
Cloning of products is not going to disappear. Just a fact of economics and business strategy and ethics. But we have to be accountable for our part in it as consumers.

I personally own the Tobecco Velocity (clone) & I couldn't be happier with it, as the original is hard to find & I cannot justify spending $100 on something meant to be more desirable than ciggs. However, the market is changing & mods, rda's, rta's, etc are becoming more affordable. For instance, I'm drooling over the new Tsunami rda by Geek Vape & it's only $30. $10 more than what I paid for my Velocity & is vastly superior. If it was US made, you can bet your bottom dollar, that it would cost in the $100 range as well & thus, clone makers would capitalize on that as well. I also purchased the rx200 & is my first 200w mod. Yet, it is affordable.

As long as there are people not willing to pay "premium" prices for "premium" gear (some aren't even worth the high price tag), clones will always be a part of the marketplace. What it all comes down to, is that, if you can afford the higher prices, then cool, but don't knock or look down on those who cannot. It's not that serious, in a market filled with people trying to better their health by refraining from smoking. If a clone stops them from smoking cancer sticks, then let them. *Kanye shrug*

... and I won't use second rate re-wrapped over spec batteries either. If given one, I toss it. Yeah, it's good that I've given up cigs, but no reason to maybe lose a face over it.

And that's my thing about clones in general ... to what standards are they being held? The risk just isn't worth it to me. For all I know, the steel in clones came from some nuclear disaster site or something.

Hell, I already don't even trust the Chinese "good stuff" as it is. Been too broad a range of products from China that were found to be unsafe/contaminated and the vape stuff is WAY under the radar.

in this thread I will probably resort to just liking what I agree with. Arguments over this topic hasn't changed since the previous threads and I feel I already expressed in full detail how I feel about this topic. No need to get worked up again. It's fun to watch though.

That`s my plan. Life is way too complicated in the deep end, much more carefree in the shallow end. :?)

decent view, can't agree more!
clones are also produced to fulfill the needs in the market, as time goes by, the price of authentics will drop, too.

Not a big fan of popcorn so will munch a good bacon sarnie as this goes on, bit of help for you op when searching add the word "authentic" and you'll have an easier time getting what you want. Personally I'm happy with things as they are no more Facebook limited runs and company's watching us screw each other over to try and get what we want as they limit production to inflate the price. Sure there are bigger things in life to get worked up about but hey ho whatever makes people happy.
