Avast!

Well, lets try something new.

I have some desk caddies on hand that were made for a cancelled order. I put them up on the website under a "Specials" category at a big discount....there are only a few of them though. Ready to ship
.

Desk Caddy Holder - Small - Combination v2

If this seems popular, I will put more items in that category from time to time. That along with the random coupons might get more people to stop by and say hello?

We'll give it a try, arrr

Cappy the Caddy arrived today. It is awesome thank you!! Unfortunately due to a water pipe break I didn't have time to get pics of my other stands, but I was able to load her partially up and grab this pic.

Also I noticed one of my tanks leaked all over one of my caddys what is the best method to clean juice off these things?

I guess I would stuff some paper towel, Kleenex or such over the area with pressure to get up as much as possible then just let it air dry. Not much else you can do I suppose.

I also think a liberal coat of Howards feed n wax will also keep it moisturized and help minimize juice getting into the wood. Probably a good idea to do occasionally for any wood desk caddy / mod.

Aloha me 'earties. Hope the week is treating you all well.

Not much done this week, been doing home plumbing repairs but finished them up today.

Here is the promised pic of the 7 box caddy. It has 510 connectors inset in the tank holes by request. I don't normally do that. Looks good though.

oh, I need one just like it :D
But I don't see the 510 option on the website Capt'. How do I order one with the 510s?

Although it's been requested a couple times, I never thought of adding an option so anyone who wants them can get them.

I will have to give it some thought. I've used 510 connectors with and without the center conductor. Without the center conductor pin the tanks can be screwed in all the way down. But I'm thinking that I might want to seal the center conductor and leave it in so juice can't drip thru the connector and pool at the bottom of the tank hole.

Nothing's ever easy ...

Any thoughts?

It would cost about $1.50 per hole to have them added.

Well, here is a vaping tidbit that might come in handy for you all.

For a couple months now I've been experiencing light hits and bad tasting vapes. I have about 8 A7 or A7 mini rebuildable bottom feed atties I cycle through.

After minutes or hours, sometimes days I get bad hits again and with disgust I put on a new RBA, all the time wondering how I am screwing up when I am building them now.

Today I got totally frustrated and grabbed my backup. It's been a long time since I used my backup mod so I took some 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and hit the battery tab and spring. I also took a q-tip and cleaned the inside of the 510 connector. I tossed in a pair of 16340 batteries and it vaped great using the A7 that I just took of my main mod.

As I sat there finally getting a decent level of nicotine in my system I looked at my current mod, a DNA30. I know I've mentioned before that I've been using it for a long time, but when was the last time I actually cleaned the damn thing?

I took it apart and hit the tabs with sandpaper then cleaned the 510 connector. I got some black stuff from inside the 510 connector and the battery tabs look shiny again. Dropped a fresh 18350 in it, gave it a vape and got a nice cloud again.

Stupid! I tell others to keep them clean, perhaps once a month, and I fail to do it myself!

I'm using one of the A7's that I tossed back into the "USED" box and it is vaping great. How many coils have I wasted because I didn't follow my own guidelines?

I imagine you can guess the moral of this story .............arrr

Hey Capt'

Since you've been open to suggestions I was wondering if you are going to use a Fat Daddy spring loaded type 510 on the new batch of Destroyers with the DNA40 of course!! Arrrr :D

No, sorry, they suck imho.

I'll be using the traditional 510's until someone makes a good spring loaded connector that doesn't leak and I've looked at a few brands so far.

Ok Thanks. Was just wondering.

The one's I've looked at might be suitable for a non feeder, but the feeder types have all had some serious flaws. I've tried contacting the makers but have been totally blown off. Not much else I can do.

Haha. This is the second stand I've gotten from Cappy with the 510's. I think Cappy thought I was a little crazy asking for them initially but I really like that I can move the stand without the attys falling over. Works really well!! :D

I'll have to see if I can get a bulk discount for sealed 510 connectors somewhere. I normally don't buy those as the majority of mods are feeders. I usually only have enough connectors on hand for the batch. But yeah, seems there is interest after all!

Do you like the sealed centers or the connectors without centers better?

That's what I meant the Destroyer is the non feeder right?

Yup, it might be possible to use them then. I'll look into it this batch. One of the major problems is the threaded portion of the connectors is so short that I couldn't make them work with my thicker topped mods. But I will look into it more.

I think my arm has recovered enough to get back to work tomorrow. I'll give it a try. I've been having my son David sand the desk caddies the last couple weeks. Heh..

Are you cool with Robert at REOSmods? He's got a new 510 that's supposedly indestructible? The feed tube is adjustable with a hex screwdriver?

I've never talked with anyone at REO. I used to talk to other one-man shop mod makers, but they are all out of business now. I don't have any dealings with the major manufacturers out there I'm afraid. Really, I'm just a glorified hobby mod maker with a website.

Yes, definitely sealed centers. Just let me know how to order with this option :) (and I can seal the centers if it's too much hassle)

some DIY folks are modding the original FV connector by tapping the insulator for a #6-32 vented screw. If you tap a positive plate (no solder), you should be able to adjust the pin (vented screw) manually. From what I've read, it's been a successful mod. I have an older model Cruiser I'm going to try it on and I'll let you know how it works out.

Yes...this works very well with no leaking.
