Cappy not sure if you saw the 510 variations...... But fat dad has bottom feeder 510 setups..... Are you saying that that the way they vented the feeder tube on the 510 leaks? I've never seen it up close so I don't know..... Also that link that I sent you awhile ago with sva mods he makes b/f-er mods and also sells the parts ..... There's a diy section with the 510 he uses. ...... Everybody loves this guys mods ....... Not unlike the way we LOVE YOUR MODS!

Ahoy all, happy Monday.

I've been all over the 510 connector issue in the last few months and have examples of what is available on hand. I will keep up with what is newly available, but to date none of them are acceptable to me. Irregardless of other peoples opinions and what works for them, I am the one who has to warranty these mods and fix problems. I don't want to introduce problems into a system that currently has none.

I have gone through the entire website and updated all the listings to include the option to have 510 connectors inset into the tank/RBA holes. They cost $1.50 for each hole.

http://redskymods.3dcartstores.com/Desk-Caddies_c_23.html

I don't have that many connectors on hand so I am going to try to find a source for 510 connectors in bulk now. If I get too many orders with connectors then some people might have to wait until the connectors arrive.

Off I go... arrr

Ok, I'm done with the website.

I've added 510 connector options to all caddies.

I've changed the options selection to buttons instead of drop down menus.

I've dropped the prices of all desk caddies 15% across the board. Hopefully this will help offset the cost of 510 connectors for some people and give other people a nice discount on regular prices.

I've added a coupon code ECF5 for a 5% discount this week on new desk caddies and mods for sale. Should work for items on sale already.

Some other random house cleaning. Please notify me if you come across any problems!

I've also decided to proceed with the batch which has been idling for too damn long. The 510 connectors I got in from Fasttech are not useable for my mods. The barrels are too short.

I can't make mod bodies until I know what I have to change in order to adapt for new hardware but I'm tired of waiting. I'm gonna be in the poor house if I don't get things moving.....

The batch starts tomorrow. Even if a miracle 510 connector appears next week, too late! I will use it next batch.

Captain going below, all hands carry on.... it's grog time.

Just my opinion but Yiorgo asks an excellent question. I won't use anything on a poly finish if it isn't food safe...that's just the benchmark I use to make sure there is nothing in the stuff that might disfigure or crack the poly. I use Boos Block Board Cream....beeswax and mineral oil...and that's all. Smells nice too. :)

actually I just finished a convo with a wood modder that told me he has had ejuice crack the poly finish on mods....specifically anything that is a "tank cracker".

Howard Feed N Wax: Beeswax, carnauba wax (a wax of the leaves of the palm, also used in the pharmaceutical industry as a tablet-coating agent) and orange oil. Don't know that I'd eat it but I have not had any adverse effects on poly mods having used it for a number of years.

Boos Block Board Cream is also an excellent product to replenish and protect wood.

I have myself used Howards for a few years now on my own mods.

I think the e-juice cracking of a poly finish might be if the finish is many layers thick and smooth like glass, which mine isn't. I just want to seal the pores and make it look nice without it looking like plastic.

I like to put a thin coat of Howards on the inside and outside of my mod to keep it moisturized and it also provides a extra layer of protection against juice getting into the pores of the wood. I would rather have wax than juice get into the wood that has been worn bare by handling.

Just make sure you clean the battery tabs well or it might start having problems getting enough battery power.

Have you ever heard of deoxit (gold pen)? Does anyone recommend using this on the battery contacts and/or 510 connection ?

Cappy don't you live in Florida..... I wouldn't think you need to moisturize anything? We, who live in the Frigid=DRY areas of the country definitely need to moisturize everything including our skin!

Deoxit is good stuff. You can definitely tell a difference when using it. I use the pens and it keeps contacts clean when being used on the contacts and batteries. It is not only a deoxidizer but a conductent as well. Noalox on the other hand is an antioxidant however, it is non conductent.

There are three different pens.

D100P Deoxit pen: Cleans and preserves the contacts. rub it on and wipe it off. If the surface has any oxidation you will notice a color change as the treatment cleans it away.

G100P Deoxit pen (Gold): Protects from oxidation and provides a anti tarnishing shield. Same again, rub it on and wipe it off.

S100P Deoxit pen (Blue) This is for more severe environments such as salts, humidity, sulfurs and the like. Haven't found the need to use this one as of yet but if I was in those type of environments, I would use it.

I've been using the D100 And G100 pens on all of my mods and batteries for quite sometime and everything is still looking new. The only other thing that I do is use an ink eraser on each end of my batteries to clean them up before I apply the deoxit.

As always, hope this helps...;)

Well, it does get a bit dry when the heater kicks in, but excess humidity is the real problem so I do keep the AC set around 74 all summer long. I've lived in more humid places like Guam and I remember taking a pair of boots from the closet and they were green with mildew. Not sure what that climate would do to untreated wood.

I lived up there in Chicago for a time and remember clearly the cold and windy winters, I don't miss that at all. I also lived in Anchorage for a spell and would prefer that over Chicago. If you really want cold though, head up to where I was born, northern Minnesota...now that place is .... COLD ! Yuck ..

The only thing I miss is freshwater fishing. I used to love spending a Minnesota summer day in a small boat fishing for panfish.

Have a great weekend all, arrr

I've also lived in Japan, San Diego and Rochester NY, arrrr

Ahoy all, good morning!

Everything is fine here, and yeah it has been quiet.

Just starting to get moving on the batch after getting the latest desk caddies out.

Here is a pic of my little cnc machine at work making a 10 box caddy profile. I will cut much of the wood by hand but it gives me a profile to work with. You go girl!

Here are some better pics of the new 7 box caddy I used for the website;

and I can't recall if I've posted pics of the 10 box, so here is one;

Well, I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands in concert!

Have a great week, arrr
