This was initially just a leak under the tub drain that pooled under the floor and eventually rotted enough that the fixtures started sinking. This house of ours is over 60 years old and is showing it's age more every year. I had to knock out part of a bathroom lower wall by the sink to get at the water trap for the bathtub as it was plugged and a snake kept going down the wrong pipes. The cast iron is all corroded but I was able to clear up the clog without damaging it more. I dread when that pipe has to be replaced in the concrete slab house.
The clog was probably about 12 feet down the drain pipe, no idea why so far down but the tub is now draining like it never has since we moved in. Yipee!
Now I just have to build a new sink cabinet and some kind of cover over the wall access so I can get back in there if I need to some day.
arrr, fun fun fun...
I pulled a little up thinking I could just patch it but it was spread all under the cast iron tub too.
Once I got everything out I noticed mold all over the plaster too. It's no longer a weekend project. Mine's a hundred years old so nothing is ever simple. Or square.
Decided to redo wiring and plumbing since it was already gutted.
